Hello engineers in the house. I got this Firman FPG3800 E2 yesterday, I will be using it for a freezer, TV, home theater and other appliances. I hope it's a good generator??

Hi guys. What could be the problem with my small generator? In recent times, when I put it on the light doesn't stable, it's always shaking and the noise is too much. My mechanic said the problem is from calibrator and capacitor, that once new ones are fixed the light will be stable and it'll also stop making noise. He came, changed the calibrator, capacitor and bearing yet this issue still persists.

I had to bring this here because I'm tired, I've called two mechanics to come and work on the gen and I don't see any meaningful results after all the money spent.

I've been really bothered about this because it's the small generator I use to sleep at night. I turn on my other generator(sumec spg 1800) mostly in daytime, I don't like using it to sleep in the night. Please generator profs in the house, advise me.

If original, you're good to go. You might need to specify other appliances.

Thanks for the response sir and Yes, it's original, I made sure I checked all the parts to ensure the "FIRMAN" was engraved in them.

Other appliances are PS4 console, 2 ceiling fans, a standing fans and light bulbs (about 10) though I won't be putting on all the appliances all at once. And please can it power a pressing iron?

lol, seems my sarcasm needs an upgrade.

I use same exact Generator and I must tell you it is reliable. 5years running and still works though now shorting oil which seems to be a general Sumec thing at old age. It depends on your 'iron' voltage but if you ask me I'd say its an "overkill". if you were talking about A/C I know I use it with a 1HP LG Dual Inverter Air-conditioner and its cool but anything else that generates much heat like iron, microwave, cooker shocked shocked Run O. Adverse effect will be on the lifespan of the Generator Sir.

A compressor is easily kickstarted and running voltage wouldn't be much compared to a tool with 'coil" but then again 'what do I know'

No generator is typically noiseless as you will be thinking of placing it towards your window. I will advise you go a little notch higher...TEC Junior 1500 about 80k - 85k. The quality is better than for same rating and it also comes with AVR compared to others.

What's the work of the AVR please
Re: Professor On Any Type Of Generator. by Amaudofa: 4:27am On May 03, 2021
Prof, please what generator should I buy?

I'm moving to a new apartment and I need a gen that can power a Midea HS235L fridge (input power 120W) a 1000W inverter, 4 energy bulbs, two 40W rechargeable fans, and a laptop and phone at the same time. I would also need it to be able to power microwave and electric iron occasionally (I'll turn off the other appliances in such situations).

I plan to buy a 1hp inverter AC in a few months so I'd factor that into the total consumption too.

Pls advise; I need a gen that saves fuel. I know nothing about generators and I don't want to make a mistake. Please what model and what price range will I be needinh? (can 100k or below buy it?)

Thank you

For all the load you listed and probably more in the near future, i would suggested you get 6000w (7.5kva) generator. I would recommend Thermocool gen cos i am using one, and the experience has been awesome. You can go to any haier-thermocool official store to check the gen and current price. You can also checkout original Sumec Fireman (don't know anything about them though). Which ever you decide to buy, make sure you buy from their official store (Thermocool) or accredited dealers (Sumec). Goodluck

I am thinking to buy a 3.2kva sumec Forman spg3000e2 key start generator. A friend recommends it and he says their family uses the same load (with an extra chest freezer and it's been serving them well for 2 years+) Sumec is very popular and from this thread it seems to be great.

The 6000w gen go pure o, but my money no reach am sadly.

A 3.2kva gen might be too small for your extimated load e.g 1000w inverter and the pressing iron, but since your friend uses same no wahala. The bolded is the effect of our weak naira, no thanks partly to Buharinomics.

Morning Gen Profs. I need advice on the best generator to buy based on the following:

1. Low noise (very important)
2. Low fuel consumption
3. Durability: Last very long without frequent breakdowns
4. My budget is 50k

I won't be using it with fridge or iron. Just TV, loader, fan, and console.

Thanks.

Good afternoon, It's been a while prof....Well I have this problem with my sumec Firman spg 3000e2 . Once I turn it on, it works for a while (about 1 hour or so) then it trips off by itself, even when the load is very minimal. I try turning it on again and it responds only to trip off later again. I have tried completely changing the engine oil still no improvement. My Gen guy is always recommending we change the piston and ring. I swear I'm tired of changing those and now he isn't picking my calls. (I also observe that the fuel runs dry overnight regardless of whether the fuel control is kept shut or open).
If all these makes sense to you, can you please recommend a solution? Thank you.

Hi. Good evening. Thanks for your supports here.
To my ogas in the house, I've just used a 3500ES ELECTRIC SERIES hustler thermocool gen for 5yrs and I really enjoyed it. Right now, the gen has a problem; engine oil vanishes in it, within 4hrs a full engine oil gets completely dried and empty and ready to be topped up all over again, i noticed the exhaust is just too much too and I've never experienced these over the years that I've used it. I visited the thermocool repair unit in ibadan and was told the engine will have to be changed completely for a total sum of 78,000 naira. shocked more so, it's not available at the moment but was told it'll be available in 2weeks
I felt like it'll be best to buy a new one. Right now what I'm seeing in market is recoil series 3500es, can my ogas help highlight the difference between ELECTRIC SERIES 3500ES and RECOIL SERIES 3500MS of the same thermocool product and if there's any contrary opinion about getting a new one. Thanks as you respond

1.Attached is the Gen pics...
2.For sound and vibration I guess it's OK, no issues.
3.I put on the Gen say 3 - 4hrs daily average.
4. During last service, Oil was about a little below half mark (E no Guage).
5. I put exactly 0.6L of Oil as stated in the owners manual.
6. Am using total quart 5000 (20w50) currently ... When I bought the generator, it came with firman oil, but had to switch to total because it's readily available close to me.
7. Last time I had issues putting on the Gen, I removed the plug n checked the head and it was black and greasy (like carbon mixed with fuel or so)
8. My total load is about 900watts (excluding micro wave once in a while) ...gen is rated 3600 running watts..

This gen fine sha..... What's the fuel consumption of the generator like? And what's the noise level too?

Cos na noiseless generator me I wan buy, but I can't find em in Nigeria.... I thinking of buying one from eBay and ship it down but the cost will be too much for me

Noise level is about 76db which is ok... Gen house is like 30m away from my apartment so I virtually hear little to no sound. Full tank gives me about 15hrs with my current load, if it's fuel efficiency you are looking at, this is not the gen for you. But if it's power, asthetics and ruggedness then this guy would do the job... It's a 4.5kva gen running and 5.5kva starting... I use to contemplate about buying it till I saw some guy's on a construction site who said they use it for welding occasionally . Another feature I like about it is the timer function that puts of the generator when you program it to. So i can time the gen for 2hrs and go to bed knowing it will switch off itself when the time elapses.

How did you measure that? Or it's written on the pack?

Cos I'm looking for at least 56dBA
