If you are without concrete connections or not into fraudulent activities, then your lifespan will surely reduce and you won't find the supposed joy you seek.
People are making it in smaller cities, just save some money and go to low cost of living environment, and establish yourself and also get a job if you can.
Perhaps you can try that alternative of visiting MFM, some suggested to you.

I see you are a graduate of Estate management. You should venture into freelance real estate agency on the side. Once you get how it works in Lagos, you will quit your job and focus on that.

That was why "so help me God", was added at the of our national pledge. Nigeria "don cast' finish''

@op, I feel your pain, I'm almost in the same situation as yours, born n brought up in Lagos, i only left when I was offered admission to Unical, i enjoyed my sanity in Calabar, less traffic and serene environment, passed out of service last two months and now, I'm in Abuja, Lagos was never an option, i could no longer cope with the stress and madness, though I'm still looking for a job, but I'm hoping for the best.

You can't even get an accommodation of 200k in Ajah. I think you should follow the advice someone gave you earlier. Either you look for a security man with enough accommodation space or start the job, make new friends then move in with them when the friendship is well established but I can tell you that Lagos is the best place for you to be with your course of study, there are many opportunities here especially on the island. God will help you.

"Please the idea of not wanting to leave my comfort zone is not just it, leaving my comfort zone is not that I must suffer in Lagos."

Coming from the a little know city called Ajara in Badagry, Lagos, hustling in the faraway city of Jimeta, Adamawa. I've come to realize that what you just said is the path my soul want....

I'm not cut out for the hustle, bustle and bubble of the motherland..

By the way, I wish you all the best in all your endeavors.

When "Darey Art Alade" sang "Pray for me", he must have been thinking about me. I'm born and bred in a peaceful town in Osun State. I moved to Lagos for the first time for my University Education. Throughout my stay in UNILAG, I never loved Lagos. The stress, the way people act, the Rush, the cat race is just not for me. After my University Education, most corpers relocated to Lagos State for their NYSc but I never did. I served @ Oyo state and that was the best decision I ever made. The cool and calm nature was just perfect.
After NYSC, every job opportunities available is in Lagos, recently I got a job that pays 60k and people advised me to accept it , that at least for a start. I left my town today and here I am in Lagos squatting with a friend in a ghetto in Surulere. My friend paid almost 150k to get just a room in this ghetto.
Whereas, I got a bigger room in the town I served in Oyo state with just 30k. Now what's my point?
Now, since there are little to no opportunities in Osun State and almost every other South Western States except Lagos, I've decided to forcefully love the city.
Please, I need an apartment close to VI, I don't want to waste my 60k salary on transport and feeding alone. My budget for accommodation is just 80k.
I know 80k is too small in this rat race city called Lagos, but I know some are just capable of helping. Please if it's possible,
I need a better job out of Lagos, a job out of Lagos would be my utmost joy.

I just decided to type this as it comes from my heart. There are more, but lemme stop here.

*Please the idea of not wanting to leave my comfort zone is not just it, leaving my comfort zone is not that I must suffer in Lagos.

Another question is, : must I stay in Lagos to succeed? I need a better job to get out of this city mehn embarassed

First, try to love your job. Other things will fall into play smiley

Secondly, the 80k you intend using to find an apartment in VI is close to impossible..dat 80k sef na some hotel money per night..Solution?

Do like most graduates and girls do, ask the right people, you'll find a security personnel with enough space to spare you..give him the 80k or 50k and squat there instead of a ghetto in surulere. Believe me it'll help u in the long run.

Thirdly, don't settle for a 60k job on the island...there a jobs everywhere believe me! But they're not advertised. That's why you need the right connections. Solution? GO OUT More often.. Start with a good church..e.g Harvesters Intl(lekki) Elevation Church (Still Lekki) M.F.M (Igbo efon branch) the one Sanwo Olu goes to. These are churches that are proven helpers from personal experience...ANYONE you choose. That MFM especially, just chill after service on the Last Sunday of the month, you'll be on your way for an interview the next Monday as long as you're qualified.

Lastly, Lagos is really stressful, But remains the best city in the country by a long margin..People below me will tell you otherwise, but deep down they know it's the truth kiss So instead of striving to move to another state, your next goal after Lagos is to leave this hellhole called Nigeria undecided May God's guidance be with you smiley

You can get a house in orile or sari iganmu, houses are quite cheap, though you may be spending 1k for transport daily

LOL.

The truth is they have every right to celebrate and be happy about it. it is another milestone that has been crossed. People celebrate their milestones.
That you have crossed a previous milestone doesn't guarantee that the next milestone would be easier. those that didn't smile or show their certificates do they have it easier?

If you cross a level and you want to celebrate please do.

[quote author=Akpuobi1 post=101223473]Plan 1: I will suggest you continue staying at Surulere with our friend and contribute in paying the house rent.

Plan 2: Save 35% percent of your salary for 36 months then you can plan going back to any SW State of your choice to start a little business.

Plan 3: Within the 36 months you will be working, look out for better offers in Lagos you may end up not going back after the period.

Plan 4: Execute Plan 2 if Plan 3 didn't work with the 36 months period.

This idea is perfect. May God help you.]
