Arsenate: The irony of it all is that all the people screaming insecurity are not residents of either cities. Go through this thread and you will find out that residents of both cities (Jos and Kd) have only pleasant things to say about their respective city of residence
The media, is indeed very powerful.

true

it's all perception

but then again, if peke happen everyone will join in to yab the victims: 'what are they doing up north blah blah'

Now that you are to choose, i suggest you go to jos cos is mostly peaceful and friendly than kaduna and night life have actually be in the rise in jos and you can visit any part of jos now without molestation but be-careful not to be in those areas at evenings or night and if you are christian i will say you should ask before looking for accommodation where will be ok for you and trouble cannot just start in such areas eg Refield, lowcost, Dadikowa ect.

@op if you are in Jos town you are safe but if you are in Kaduna there are two things involved. It's either you are working in Kaduna north and living in Kaduna south. If you live in Kaduna south you are safe. If you work in Kaduna north there are two things involved. Either you are being protected by God whose direction you sought before going there or protected by the thought of having enough money to help you out in difficult situations. In any case ask God for directions. I served in Jos, believe me it was a great experience. I had d best of time.

I currently work in Kudenda, kaduna . As they have said it's safer to live in kaduna south. Cos it is mostly occupied by nigerians from various tribes. Some areas there mostly have christians ...while other areas have yoruba muslims dominating...All still in kaduna south. A lot of infrastructure and side attractions are however located in kaduna central and North but not too safe to live in but one may work there and pray nofin happens

filcast: @op,after 9 years of staying in kd,believe me i know the place like the rear of my palm. I just relocated to Lagos few weeks ago, anyway.I still visit kaduna once a month though for some unfinished bizs.I would ve given u my take on this but u ve failed to include all the necessary details about ur situation. For instance, where u employed b4 this 'juicy' job came up? Where are the company offices located in jos/kaduna? will the job entail you mostly sitting in the office or moving about?
Note:most casualties in the north crisis met their deaths while outside their particular resisdences. So where u reside may have little to do with your safety. Good luck.
@ OP this is what you should ask with all the advice you have received here, the office location in both cities and seeing that you have accommodation advice its very important.

op dont tell me you'll pick jos over kaduna! I've schooled in both places and kd is light-years ahead of jos!
1)kaduna has steady power supply
2)kaduna is more business friendly
3)kaduna is more industralized (i knw ynu know the benefit of being industralized)
4)kaduna has NNPC. (Only dis point has finished jos lol)
5)kaduna is more beautiful dan jos.
6)kaduna is more secured considering the fact NDA and other military schools are there
7)kd has more rich men lol, so u get to see very fine houses and cars
cooli'm tired of typing. Just ask fifa and the federal govt why kd hosted d u-17 worldcup

Dear Op, I have lived in this two towns for so many years, I grew up in Kaduna but schooled in Unijos for six good years. The two towns are lovely places to live in despite the little security challenges experienced at times. In terms of weather, social life, cheap acomodation and feeding, go for jos any day, anytime. In terms of business, money and a large commercial city go for kaduna any day, any time. Above all Op, seek the face of God and tell him to take you to the town where he has destined you to excel in life. Wish you the best in all ur endeavours!

I can't say much about Kd bt i cn say a lot about Jos because i stay dia presently. Jos city is secured. Crises rarely happen in d city. The only tin is to knw ur boundaries n avoid certain places lyk Angwa roguo n a plus 2 its social life is d University dia.

If a whole capital city depends on a school for social life, then it's definitely not all that. Kd all the way.

Jos all the way, kaduna is not an option. I live in jos. Hav been to other parts of eastern nd western Nigeria, jos is still d best. All you use to hear about jos is a fabrication of lies, most of the time all d attacks are outside d city. Welcome to Jos my broda. Home of peace nd tourism.

Ikoniko: i agree with you on friendly weather, but in times of security and social life i disagree.

When there is crisis in Jos, who are the ones affected? its usually between the Fulanis and the Beroms. But in Kaduna, as long as you are not from the North and especially if u are a Christain from any tribe, once the crisis starts and u are in danger zone, then start saying your last prayers. The last crisis in Kaduna, sometime between 2010 and 2011, the curfew imposed lasted more than 2 weeks. So for me and those who understands both terrains very well, we will simply choose Jos.

Re: Offer Letter In Jos Or Kadunna Confused by ishmael(m): 1:07pm On May 06, 2013
Jos is a small town compared to kaduna. It's like comparing abeokuta with lagos. @OP kaduna is lagos in d north. It is highly cosmopolitan. Security is a problem in nigeria as a whole not just kd or jos. Forget about "home of peace, tourism, hospitality" dat plateau and borno gave to demselves, they are actually not safe places. If u want to live in a big city in d north and enjoy ur stay, then it's kada city.

Abeg e don do. Op don hear. you guys have used 6pages saying the same thing over and over again. Those with Jos say 'hi' response = 'hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii'. those with Kaduna say 'nay' response = 'neeeeeeey'. The hiiiis have it. End of discussion abeg. Op pack ya load go jos go hustle

Hello. I live and work In Jos and I must say that it is a very nice place to live. You need to get good advice concerning where you get an accommodation though. Food isn't expensive and you'll love the cool weather. I strongly recommend Jos.

Thanks for the info you provided.
I'm planning on moving to Jos as a fresh graduate. How would you rate the cost of living as regards housing, feeding, business opportunities etc?

Hi Bro,

My earlier response was made a couple of years ago however Jos has not changed much. Food is still cheap, housing is still affordable just that you need to live in a secure environment. Business opportunities however are somewhat limited and you will need to look at what is available in the town, create a niche for yourself and make a living.

Best wishes bro. Do not forget that the weather is veryyyyy cold oh! No try yourself, get warm clothing once you arrive.
