What ever happens the CBN should save Honeywell flour from a
Collapse. A lot of people draw their livelihood from that company. Jobs there should be saved.
God help this country.

Really? Where's your evidence for the claim? Can you provide any links to resources showing that the CBN has such rights? Can you go further and show where central bank governors in countries with good track records on inflation have personally muddied their hands with such matters? Anyone can make claims like yours without the slightest evidence to back them up.

Given the existence of the auditors you mention, why did Emefiele then have to personally get involved in this issue? Can he see nothing better to do with his time, even as the great mass of Nigerians are suffering under the inflation he's allowed to run riot? That's what I'm getting at when I say the man is clueless about setting priorities.
google "cbn guideline on corporate governance" and read the pdf document from cbn website

Owing bank debts? I hope you know that Oba Otudeko is a different entity from Honeywell Flour. Honeywell (and not Otudeko) owes First Bank

Otudeko owes first bank not Honeywell

Oga that one na legalistic turenchi.

Otudeko is Honeywell, Honeywell is Otudeko.

Whatever happens to Honeywell happens to Otudeko who is the major shareholder.

Well maybe if you understand how these things work you will say otherwise.

Wisdom is also to know when to humble yourself and choose your fight carefully . Your bank has been on CBN's liquidity support and regulatory forbearance in the last 5 years and you still want to flex muscle with them. If the CBN governor was meek enough to call you on this matter, the least you can do is hear him and discuss a possible win-win situation. Some one like Sanusi Lamido would have treated his case long ago.

Techcabal says the loan is N75 billion. He owns 75% of the shares in Honeywell Flour.

Baba it was initially 75billion bad debt. But instead writing off, the MD restructured it 45bn so at all all hom go pay, but he rather chose to remove the MD instead of paying up the loan.

As an entrepreneur, Oba Otudeko is a go-getter. As a boardroom politician, he is bullish, very bullish. As a money-chaser, he is a hard-nosed capitalist. He has the tendency to browbeat regulatory authorities both in money market and capital market. There is no doubt that Oba Otudeko is a principality in the mammonic kingdom.

However, every empire has its rise and its fall. One hopes this corporate governance misadventure will not lead to the fall of Oba Otudeko empire.

It has already caused his downfall.

But let me ask how can CBN allow him to be a chair or FBN holding, airtel and Honeywell, FBN has equity shares in those company at the same time loans were granted to them. Which were later restructured following their non performance. This is totally against codes of corporance governance

Maybe his palm grease to emefina had expired or it is not renewed thus CBN woke up from their slumper and wield their hammer.

Oba,

But let me ask how can CBN allow him to be a chair of FBN holding, Airtel and Honeywell at a time. Not only that, FBN has equity shares in those companies at the same time loans were granted to them. Which were later restructured following their non performance. This is totally against codes of corporance governance and best practice. There must be insider abuses due to conflict of interest

Maybe his palm grease to emefina had expired or it is not renewed thus CBN woke up from their slumper and wield their hammer on him. Thank God it happens at early stage otherwise it will be another story altogether

Oba,
CBN was sending them reminders to divest from companies they had equity and granted loans to,but they failed to listen.Hence the need to wield the big hammer. International investors are watching the jokers with astonishment that all themselves regulators of the stock market and banking industry.
