Why he no stationed that airport in his village so we know he need one closer to his village Aguleri... I checked from my Google map , from onitsha to this airport is 1.25 mins and from nnewi is 1.50 mins this is Google calculation if u add stop and search of police wey full Anambra plus traffic, it will take you 3hrs maximum to reach that airport, why wasting 3hrs going to airport while asaba airport is 35 minutes from nnewi and 25mins from onitsha, the only reason the airport is there is because of nnewi and onitsha businessmen traveling far and near... many people will still prefer asaba than this one... what happened to the one in Oba They should've continue the project because where it situated would've serve ndi Anambra than this umuneri airport in unknown hinterland, unless he will build electric monorail to complement ease access to this his private airport... clowns forming funky

Igbos are a race to reckon with anywhere in the world!
If not for the clannishness virus pervading the country, orchestrated by our myopic leaders, the SE well harnessed would give the Silicon valleys of this world, the Bavaria of this World, the Chechnya of this World, the Shanghai of this world, the Gujarat of this World, the Québec of this world, the Dubai etc a good competition in technology and development!

Truly, this nation deserves to be great had our leaders carried every part along.

The Airport is located at Umueri not Aguleri which is Obiano's town, Gov Obiano constructed dual carriage road form Enugu/Onitsha express to the airport via Nteje, there is no police check point there, from Onitsha to the airport 15 minutes, from Awka 20mins from Nnewi 45 minutes maximum.
Good development to ndi Anambra, but if you ask me , the geographical location of the airport is out of place . I checked the distance from nnewi to umuneri its 1:40 minutes drive and from onitsha to umuneri 1:20 minutes, remember this is Google calculation and if u add police checking points, Agbero stop and check tax receipts and long gueue of motorists trying to navigate through the traffic it will take you approximately 2 to 3 hours to get to the airport imagine wasting 3hrs on the road if u are coming from industrial hub of the state Onitsha and nnewi.. what's the need of wasting 3hrs going to Anambra airport when asaba airport is less than 40mins drive from nnewi and 25mins drive from onitsha, you might criticize me or call me all kind of unprintable names but Las Las people will opt for Asaba than this one in umuneri... what happened to oba airport Oba airport with it geographical location to nnewi and onitsha seaport would've been a moneybag to ndi Anambra generally , it would've drive massive development that will rival Lagos and others. Major sole reason of this airport is to cut short the stress our businessmen/women mostly from nnewi and onitsha passes through to access their various business destinations.. I honestly see no economic value of this place where it situated, at time we allow sentiments to be cloud of thinking faculty during decision making... he should've built it in Aguleri since he want airport to ferry him from his village to Abuja... once again I said congregations to Ndi Anambra... maybe ur Google map and mine are different

No offence to Anambra State Government, BUT...

How does an airport still under construction be termed INTERNATIONAL?

I hope whoever named it INTERNATIONAL knows that the airport cannot just kickoff international passenger and cargo flights on completion. It has to start domestically on a small scale before fulfilling all international standards and regulations by ICAO and IATA

You just don't label something international and think once you start, you'll be flying abroad grin The name can be revised in a couple of years after all international standards have been met and approval is granted.

All the same... I hope the runway and all the other airport infrastructure is maintained. Kudos to Anambra smiley

Stop spewing nonsense with your useless Google map. The guy has told you the fact because he is in Anambra, while you are still using Google maps to deceive yourself.

The international airport is just 15mins to Onitsha, 20mins to Awka and 40mins to Nnewi. Get off your Google map and travel to Anambra to clear your ignorance. Even when he told you that the airport is not in Aguleri but Umueri, you are still repeating Aguleri. Its very obvious you are pained by the project and also you don't know anywhere in Anambra, why not focus on your state.

Again the international airport is located at the centre of Anambra state. It is a very strategic location for the state.

Anambra international airport has been built, we didn't build it to satisfy the evious and evil wishes of you outsiders, we built to satisfy Anambrans first

EXACTLY!

The location of this airport is very suspect! There is absolutely nothing in Umueri that would warrant the construction of an airport in that village!

The three most urbanized cities in Anambra are Awka, Nnewi and Onitsha. Personally for me, Onitsha is ruled out because of:

1. The city is densely populated already and they may not find a land size that large to accommodate an airport.

2. Onitsha is very close to Asaba - I'm not sure aviation standards permit the construction of two airports within such close proximity for safety.

The next realistic location would be Awka because most airports are sited within the capital of a state ... If Akwa does not have a land size large enough for the construction of an airport, then the airport should be on the outskirts of Akwa.

I just checked Google Maps and realized that Umueri is about less than 10 minutes drive from Aguleri - Obiano's hometown grin grin

First and foremost, you cannot be more accurate than Google Maps grin Secondly, the distance and timing you allocated between Umueri and Onitsha, Awka and Nnewi is WRONG!

You claim to be learned and calling someone else ignorant, but you're the one watering down the facts to suit your argument!

Did your timing also consider the terrible state along Onitsha-Awka Road where you could spend hours on those terrible spots, especially when it rains?

This isn't about strategic location. Ask yourself why ALL states with airports have them within the capital or just on the outskirts, and why Obiano built Anambra's airport in Umueri, a town less than 10 minutes away from his hometown

Yoruba advises have arrived cheesy cheesy

You people should stop deceiving yourselves, we know how you guys feel now

Anambra international airport is 15mins to Onitsha

Anambra international airport is 20mins to Onitsha

Anambra international airport is 40mins to Nnewi

Anambra international airport is the closest airport to Anambrans

No Anambra indigene will fly through any other state again, Anambra people knows how to hold on their own.

Development of Anambra is well spread, that's why the international airport is located at the centre of Anambra and sandwiched by the 2 major cities of Awka and Onitsha.

You people should take your advice to your states, we don't need it

A lot of thing we're considered. Remember the first site for Anambra airport was Oba and development had gotten to some stage with some money sunk into it B4 they said Oba is erosion prone and changed the location. The target of the cargo airport is agricultural goods. Which area of Anambra produce this in large quantity if not Anambra east? Also, Anambra east has been denied development for a long time being that they have not produced political figures. They need even more development . You need to decentralise development. Other zones of Anambra has had their fair share. Let us allow Anambra east. It is also close to Onitsha.

Stop deceiving yourself. We know you are pained over the airport cheesy

The entire stretch of roads from Onitsha to Awka is now in good condition because it has been reconstructed by RCC.

Stop using your Google to deceive yourself. I am talking out of experience because I have gone to the airport myself. The distance from the airport to the Onitsha is 15mins, to Awka it is 20mins. This is not about Google but about personal experience.

So stop breaking your head because the airport is not for you but for Anambra people

For those checking the airport distances you are a mumu,

Even Asaba Airport to warri is very far,

Anambra Airport is very close to those in kogi and uzo uwani than those in ihiala
Anambra airport won't be very close to every area of Anambra state same thing with other Airports in other states

For those considering oba and Umueri Airport site, oba Airport site is about 580hactres of that and don't have enough Land for future expansion but Umueri Airport site is more than 2000hactres of land with enough land for future expansion.
Oba airport site is full of electric poles, high tension and many erosion site while Umueri Airport site is erosion free and electrical poles free.

If Anambra is to build Airport at oba the runway won't even be up to 3.4km not to talk of safety zone, but here in Umueri we have a 3.7km runway with 2km resa making it 5.7km and still have more than another 5.7km free land if we want to expand the runway to 11.4km in near future.

So stop comparing because the difference is clear
