POE Experience:

I just arrived the US via Lax airport, and as a first time mom I would like to share my POE experience. (P.S I read so much information on this forum that I got scared for months before my departure ).

Me: Hello
CBP: Hi, passport please
Me: gave him my passport and declaration form( he return the form to me)
CBP: Face the camera
CBP: How long are you here?
Me: 5 weeks , including the 10 days of quarantine
CBP: What are your plans?
Me: first I will visit Bleep, and then plan my visit to yyy and zzz
CBP: Are you here alone?
Me: Yes
CBP: you don’t have anyone here?
Me: I do have someone I will be staying with in Bleep first
CBP: Do you have a return ticket?
Me: Yes
CBP: For what date?
Me: May Bleep ( note he repeated I wrong date, so I removed my mask and corrected him)
CBP: Is this your first time in the USA?
Me: Yes, but was supposed to be here last year for a conference but couldn’t because of COVID-19

CBP: How much do you have on you?
Me: Bleep
CBP: Is that all you’ve got?
Me: yes
CBP: Welcome and enjoy your stay ( stamped me on till October)

Whoop, the questions seem much, but didn’t spend up to 5 min. However I was scared with the many questions, I could feel my voice cracked at one point

Background context:

I got my b1/b2 visa in London for a conference in New York, I couldn’t later attend because of lockdown. Now I’m currently 25 weeks pregnant and wanted to use the opportunity to visit and child birth. Also, I didn’t know I have a family friend in the USA during my visa application, recently got introduced to the person and I’m staying with them for the duration of my stay.

I’m really grateful for the successful entry, and thanks to everyone that share their experiences.

There is no full-proof process to it... just put your trust in God and hold enough cash

I also wasn’t stoped by custom, and no one collected the declaration form from me

congratulations ma!
Thanks for sharing your POE experience.
I can read here that you applied from the UK. Pls ma I want to know if you used your Nigeria passport for the application?, and if you had residence status in the UK as at when you applied.

Hopeful to hear from you ma.
Once again enjoy your trip ma.

With a tight fitted clothe, I’m definitely showing. But I wore something lose with a jacket and took glucose water prior to arriving the airport to ensure I’m not looking tired or week. (Also, the que at immigration was long, wasn’t expecting that due to COVID)
cheesy Oh that’s great. I’m taking tips ahead for when I’ll be ready. Looking forward to a January baby, so by October I should move.

In her case she wasn’t asked, but if you’re asked of course you have to come clean. But I really don’t think border officers have an issue with it, it’s the visa officers that have an issue with going to birth.

She was asked how long she will be staying, she said 5 weeks when she’s gonna be here for much longer. What her plans were: she said visit, when indeed she was here to give birth. But what do I know?

I’m not sure if people know that their interactions with CBP officials are always noted and could come up in their subsequent renewals.

If you didn’t mention this I wouldn’t have noticed it in the write up because I did not.

Please is there a ten day mandatory quarantine for visitors in the US?

CDC does NOT require travelers to undergo a mandatory federal quarantine. However, CDC recommends that unvaccinated travelers self-quarantine after travel for 7 days with a negative test and for 10 days if they don’t get tested.

They don't know na. LOL. I always laugh when people try to act smart. I do not know what they think the officers are typing when one is answering questions. Grocery list Everything you say is noted. That's why when some go for renewals their interview is very fast. They pull up your records and check for red flags.

Hmmm. Please is there anyone who went recently and declared? Cos I’m scared of not declaring and a little worried about declaring. What if one is told at the Poe that one cannot go in cos of the type of visa they are carrying What if they say it’s not a birthing visa?

Hello..

I am planning to a B2 interview in early March for the purpose of birthing in April and I have decided to have my 2nd baby in USA..I gave birth to my first in USA but unfortunately when I renewed in Jan 2020,I was denied because I was told to sort it out with my hospital...The counsellor assumed I paid only 2k to birth without looking at my other documents because he said only the dr bill but I paid about 6k in total.

Anyways,I have called my hospital and they have written a letter stating no funds was gotten from government, insurance or any 3rd party, that I am a self paying patient and I paid in full.. They have also updated itemised bill.I have all my receipts showing the full cost of the delivery which cost about 6k

I will need advise and tips to guide in my interview prep in March...The main reason for me wanting to have my 2nd baby in the same hospital is because I had a bit of an emergency scenario with my son and it was handled very well by the doctor and Nurses so I feel very confident and Thanks to God too my son is doing good.

I have good travel record and work in a good organisation.

Please advice and tips from Gurus for my interview and how much do I need to have in my account..The cost is sponsored by my husband and i

Please how did this go?

Sorry for the attacks, its funny how people just generalize without accepting that situations are different.

Please dont regret sharing your POE experience, I actually felt bad I shared my transcript and subsequent responses because of the way I was attacked.
