How Do I Answer This My Son's Question? by chrisxxx(m): 8:48pm On May 03, 2021
He started with some preambles and made sure he cornered me.
He asked, David killed Goliath, right?
I said yes.
He said the tunic was too heavy for David to wear wasn't it?
I said yes.
Daddy did you know that Goliath would also use a giant sword?
I was just answering yes to free myself.
I didn't know the small boy of six was up to something.
And the bombshell!
Daddy if David çould not wear the tunic because it was too heavy for him, where did he get the strength to use Goliaths sword to cut off his head?
Can someone help out with this question?

There was a spirit controlling David that faithful day, the same spirit that turned the stone to a bullet can lift up the sword no matter it's weight. So while everyone were seeing little David standing up against Goliath, people with the third eye of faith are seeing the mightiest and fastest warrior of all times (God Himself) 1Samuel 17:45 smiley

Please study the Word of God more on behalf of your family, you are their priest and head. You could easily have said "the same way that he killed a lion and a bear, by the help of God". Usually, that is important, enough and a big lesson for the six year old. Emphasis on lesson.
On a general logical perspective though, the issue with the armour of Saul to David was more an issue of experience, not weight. BTW, you don't compare the weight of a whole armour to that of a knife, cutlass, sword or same family. So David did not have any experience using armour as compared to the sling.
1 Samuel 17:38 And Saul armed David with his armour, and he put an helmet of brass upon his head; also he armed him with a coat of mail. 17:39 And David girded his sword upon his armour, and he assayed to go; for he had not proved it. And David said unto Saul, I cannot go with these; for I have not proved them. And David put them off him.

38  Saul put his own clothes on David. He put his *bronze *helmet on David’s head. Then he dressed David with his *armour.

39  David put on the *sword and the *armour. He tried to walk but he had not worn *armour before. David said to Saul, ‘I cannot wear all this *armour. I have never used it.’ So David took it all off.

38  Saul put his battle tunic on David; he put a bronze helmet on David’s head and dressed him in armor.

39  David fastened Saul’s sword over his clothes and tried to walk, but he had never practiced doing this. “I can’t walk in these things,” David told Saul. “I’ve never had any practice doing this.” So David took all those things off.

Don't lie to the boy and don't even attempt to insert yourself as Teacher between God and this boy.

Buy him icecream, or something else to get his mind off of depending on you or anyone for answers, and let him continue on his quest to learn truth not through the mouths of men, mind you, but for himself. undecided

I like being empirical. Since I couldn't explain this empirically I had to busy him with other things. Good for me he has gone to sleep. Children these days are reasoning way above their age.
Something I never thought of.

The word is "too heavy"!

Too heavy for what? For elongated fighting which is always a possibility, so it is not reasonable for David to lose by carrying on a heavy material to use for combat.

But to accomplish the figurative speech "fell by his own sword" Goliath's sword is not harmful to David but to Goliath. Simple.

See how your 6 year old is going to destroy your soul because of you are a false Christian!

Shame on you that you did not even know that Antichrist and Satanist put that thought in your child at school or in your environment.

Rather than you take the child to The Lord, it is the child who is taking you to Satan! Yet you would readily say "I a Christian", Shame fall on you!

Lord, Please Come Today and let all these evil souls be flushed away!

Like Father like son: half knowlege feigning similitude of intelligence.

You should have read the story by yourself with an adult mind before coming online to betray your ignorance.

1. Whose tunic was it?
2. Why would David put on another man's dress?

I wanted to follow you with insult but on a second thought, I realised that I dont belong to same league of barbarism.
You need to change your reasoning and your ways of attending to issues.
You must learn to accommodate everyone's thought no matter how they seem.
You could defer from their thought and air out yours without disparaging them.
Little ones are too adventurous and inquisitive. They want to ask everything. I could refer him to the supernatural power of God. But that may not be enough justice done to that question.
Young ones need empirical answers. They are being taught quantitative and qualitative reasoning in schools. You need to be careful in explaining things to them in tandem to what they are taught in school.
Stop insulting people you meet online.
The purpose of the post is to open our eyes to how young people especially infants think.
Other people on this forum see the little boy you disparage as intelligent.

Fanatical Christian! You may be one of those criticizing the Fulani people and Islam. But you have no place to accommodate other people's shortcoming or ideas.
Children ask questions adult wont ask. Everything is not satanism.
And how did you know I am a Christian? I pity the environment you exist and share with others. CRK is though in schools as a subject and not as a religion.

No one can blame the child who has asked a very valid question suitable for his age. However, when the boy's father has no sense to verify the information supplied by the child from a highly available source because he desires to taunt bible believers, he got exactly what he deserves with no iota of apology

1. Whose tunic was it?
2. Why would David put on another man's dress?

May I ask you this? Take religion out of it and reason just like one who has a blank heart like that little child.
If David found the the tunic of an average sized man like Saul clumsy and felt encumbered, do you think he would find the sword of Goliath lighter?
What blinds most people like you that you dont subject some things to critical reasoning is religious fanatism. CRS is taught in school as a subject and not as a religion. This gives room to critical reasoning. You could also study IRS. It does not make you a Muslim. Everything may not always be explained from the miraculous point of view.
I repeat once again, respect people on the net. Respect people around you. Their thoughts may be out of this world but that does not make them less humna or irrational.

See, Guilty Mind makes you think extremities beyond reasonablility.

Secondly, since Muslim section exist here, I am reasonably entitled to think that you are a Christian in the absence of any information indicating otherwise as your kind normally do.

Thirdly, every watchful parent knows a child is not capable of thinking deeply but deep thoughted information are always passed by parents to the children who thereafter offer that same information to other children who thereafter bring it home to you, which you call brilliant.

If you were watchful over your child you would know the way he thinks and what issues he would raise. I bet your wife was not as surprised since you live the raising up of children to her!

And I am only drawing your attention to these material things which affect children after all good or bad it is you who will answer over their welfare!

1. Whose tunic was it?
Ans: For an averaged sized Saul!
2. Why would David put on another man's dress?
Ans: David didn't come with any Battle Armour and Saul felt obliged to give him his own personal armour

Armours are not light weight and could be clumsy for a first time wearer. Armours are usually heavy and designed to absorb blows from the enemy without harming the wearer.
David was concerned not by his ability to receive blows but on retaining his SPEED and AGILITY

David's strategy wasn't about trading sword blows with a giant at close quarters BUT with retaining his Speed/Mobility at long distance engagement with his trusted Sling.

Hence, when Goliath fell, David had no sword of his own to kill Goliath.
Goliaths sword would certainly be heavy BUT David could carry it with two hands like an axe to strike Goliath.

If a sword is TWICE its normal length and weight, will it impossible to carry by a normal young man?

Goliath was “four cubits and a span,” which is approximately 7 feet tall and certainly not even 8 feet high. The average height of david would have been 5 feet 5 inches. Check this information out (google is your friend). Yes, Goliath was tall, but not like he was 12 feet in height.

Many of our basketballers are as tall if not taller than Goliath!

Goliath wasn't some super human mega giant na.. and David too wasn't a small boy.

The tunic was too heavy for him to fight the battle not that he couldn't literally wear it.

And the sword too. Was it not somebody that made it? The man that carried Goliath's big shield, was he from venus?
Have you not carry an heavy axe before?

Friend if you could go down the contributions of other responders on this topic you will learn how to respectively contribute to issues and still be the same person.
I might not have been the only person who has told you that your reactions to challenges are unsavory, toxic and acerbic in nature. You will always run into problem with words. You will always be seen as someone who lacks home training. You will need to do a lot of work on character re-modification.

I hate Lies and i have found sugar coatings, downplayings, and all manners of cunning speech to be Lies! I prefer Truths to be clear and precise like the difference between mango tree and dongoyaro tree. So I appreciate when a person says "drink dongoyaro extracts for your good health" than to say "E get wetin I go give you and you go like am well well" and its dongoyaro extracts!

I prefer to say the Truth, the whole Truth and nothing but the Truth.

You can say the truth and still live and be appreciated.
See the two statements below:
'That is a lie'
'That is not true'.
The above statements mean practically same thing. However, one appears to disagree with someone politely and the other disrespectfully.
You could disagree with anyone and still remains a friend to someone especially in public places like this or even workplace.
The social media is made of people of variant cultural, social, religious and educational background. Your interpersonal relationship matters here enough.
You must be mindful of your choice of words. You should not only show reverence when people are with you it should be pervasive even when you cant see them.

Won't it had been easier for you to just tell him the message in the story? Why do we always like to interprete spiritual stories with our physical eyes and mind. ?.

The story is meant to teach us the fact that the obstacle in front of us is no match for the God inside of us .

In Norse mythology, it was Thor throwing his hammer at an ice giant..

Different story...same message.

There was a day in my secondary school when a big bad school bully was flood by a small skinny boy. Bad boy rushed smallie, smalli bent down..as smalli rose, he carried bad boy on his head. The fight was separated immediately the bully fell flat on the ground. Ten seconds we had a Victor. Smallie beat Abo'oyo! Fight over!

Even though very real for I was present in class when it happened, people like you still think it's a mythology.
