There is this common feud between some mother-in-laws and wives that is still a mystery which gave rise to this question. grin

Ladies, if your mother-in-law is still alive, how would you feel if your husband hangs pictures of her on the wall? I can understand if she is dead but alive, would you welcome it ?

That husband is not wise. The MIL that see such and not advise his son to take it down is a damn foolish.

Hilarious thread, more hilarious comments.

Never knew people put framed photos of their parents in their homes, I thought it was the parents that put that of the children and grandchildren in their living room.

It sounds very strange to me, never even thought of placing my mums framed picture in the living room. I have never visited someone with their either of their parents photos framed and hung in the living room, maybe its in the bedroom as some posters have said.

My sister,

Beauty of NL.

I have never heard of it myself.

Why would the MIL's picture be framed on the wall?

I thought picture frames showcased the husband wife(s) and children? undecided

Now, I know why you have neither of the two above.

Nothing wrong with that. She's family. My uncle has a framed portrait of me in his house and I am only a niece. I'd also want one of my dad. It's all love.

I dont see myself marrying a woman that will not take my mother as her first mother while her biological mother comes second.

Anything other than this won't be easy I tell you.

Lmaooooo. She should take your mom as her first mom because your mom gave birth to her? And then her actual biological mother should be her second mom. Nigerian men keep amazing me every day.

If you have sense you will realize that what you need is a humane woman that is respectful and considerate and not selfish. Nobody needs to dump one mom for another. You only need someone that is genuinely interested in you and can work with you

So, Mrs Right will tell me that I cannot hang my Mama's picture? Abi, will I go and take permission from Mrs Right before I hang my Mama's picture? The OP needs serious beating, flogging and whipping at the market square.

So what are you waiting for?

Most of you kids will just stay behind your phones and be talking trash to everybody.

Upset because of mere picture? You guys take some of this things too serious. My grandma's picture is still hanging in our sitting room despite she's late and I never met her and my mum never talked about it for a day. I wonder where you guys meet the kind of women that make you draw such conclusions.
Are you like your mother?

Of course I will welcome it. What's this about mother-in-laws. I have encountered some that are Angels. Why won't I love my hubby's mum. She deserves to be honoured because if not for her, my hubby wouldn't have been in existence.

Sis, but aren't you reading their responses here on NL?
Only a few cultured ladies would let it slide.

I will welcome it. What's this about hanging my Hubby's mum pic on the wall? Honestly, having an issue out of this smacks of *PETTINESS*. There are more relevant issues to focus on. I have encountered some MIL's that are Angels. We shouldn't stereotype all of them as bad. My MIL deserves to be honoured because if not for her, my hubby wouldn't have been born . So hanging her pic on my wall is a non issue.

Why not? I've always loved to have framed pictures of my parents in my room, both are alive.
So I see no reason why he can't have his in the house. Its a symbol of adoration of one's parent. It'll be horrible of me to tell a man not to love his parents, God forbid me saying or acting so.

so because a man marry you, he should discard his mom abi? Aunty you are 1001 percent replaceable and my mom isn't. If you don't like it like that, you can move. My mom's picture must be on my wall and there is nothing you can do about it if you happen to be my wife. You can only grumble and that's all or you go your papa house
Y are some guys even trading words with all these senseless females who want a man to forget his family and those that he has known before he met them just because he married them? Una get time o

This question, on it's own is very wicked. Why shld it be an issue, that a man hangs the picture of the woman who birthed him on his wall
