I think this design better stays, the gap between the parapet and the flap is about 9 inches, this can be used for a lot of things, including hiding a rope light that can be shining from there in the evening and add to the beauty of the house. The flap as implant it, will have a different paint colour too, to distinguish it from the parapet in the day time.

The design of 4he house came with this flap from its contemporary design, my client wanted it added but I was concerned of how ugly it will look if it has to overshadow the parapet and obscure the roof, so I reduced the span and the projection of the flap so we can see the parapet.

My client here is now thinking the flap is too small, and also too close to the parapet and might affect the beauty of the parapet, he want the flap removed entirely. What do you guys think, is this flap a hit or miss?

I would have gone with as is design because I think roofing would have been cheaper, its not like every tom dick and harry roofing and it looks better in my eyes.

I think so myself, if not by the main dealer, it might be by his boys. One thing I did was move my trusted electricians to the site to work alongside them, and I was also hovering around them, surprising them with late evening visits to discourage them from moving any of the roofing tiles away. Thank you my Big Boss.

I am actually sourcing these set of workers from Ibadan and this will be the first time this team will be working with me. I met one great guy who was introduced to me in a site we are currently finishing in Anambra, he told me he is from the west and he majors in plastering and dressing, I tested his work in some other places and he was above average so i sent him to this very site to quote for the plastering. He gave me a good quote, even as my usual plastering guys are busy elsewhere.

I have mobilized him to bring in another 8 workers whom he used to work with from Ibadan, they are sleeping over at Asaba now, they will land this site tomorrow morning and hopefully start work. There are very many workers working with me who are also from the west over the years, some core members of the team.

Plastering works has started in this house, we are starting with the parapet fascia. More pictures later.

This is a list of all the items I bought and used for this roofing work. Please note that materials used for the parapet is not included in this list, this is for the roofing wood works and roof covering only.


1. 2x4x16 roofing wood (660) x 969.69 = N640,000
2. 2x3x16 roofing wood (400) x 480 = N192,000
3. Bag of 4" nails (3) x 12,500 = N37,500
4. Bag of 3" nails (3) x 13,500 = N40,500
5. Transportation/loading = N28,000

Please note that we have a few of these materials still remaining in the site, about 6 sqm of roofing tiles, etc.
