A friend of mine works with a company in zaria where he is paid 80k plus small small commission, he lives in a clean a room and parlour self contain, he recently got a job of 130k with small small commission too in Lagos .
He is seeking advice on whether to relocate or stay back .

P.s - zaria is a small town filled with students and no chance for proper career advancement

Arrrrrrrh

True, the environment of Zaria won't expose one to the outter world. I would advise he do a proper check and balance before migrating. if not he will regret !!

Also he should be ready to pay alot ! the cost of living in Zaria is cheap compare to Lagos. I doubt that money will be enough to keep him judging by the cost of living there - Lagos.

If not for the advantage of exposure Zaria is better than Lagos.

well he should ask God for direction !!!

Zaria with 410k people is a small town?

Tell your friend that "130k with small small commission" is small small money in Lagos, and even smaller than "80k plus small small commission" in "small town" Zaria.

If he has sense his proper career advancement will be up to him.

You better stay in Zaria

Give him two years, he’s going to be looking for a way to return to Zaria.

Lagos is not for the weak!

That 80k in Zaria should be equivalent to 200k in Lagos.
Plus the emotional stress and drain associated with living in Lagos.
Tell your "friend" it is better to be a king in a one eyed town than to become a normal person in a 2 eyed town.

You better tell that your friend to stay in that Zaria, he would grow well and save well if he knows what he's doing...

If you check my last thread, you will see where I said I had to drag salary with my boss, because alot of things has gone up... when others are selling things cheap in other state, legos would increase it...

Despite the fact that I'm earning very strong 6digit, my wife had to stay in abeokuta in a very clean 3bedroom flat with just two tenant for 250k, with a very spacious compound that can park 6 cars and the two flat has their own water tank.. (Though she works in Abeokuta)

I stay in my family house in Lagos for free and free food.... transport is only what I spend on...

If you want to rent that in Lagos, you will end up spending all your salary on it, with two years rent and very high agreement and commission...

Better tell him to stay in that his Zaria....

First of all, you downgraded Zaria... Zaria is one of the best place to grow academically very fast, it has the prestigious ahmadu bello university, aviation college, Zaria has schools... #80k in Zaria is like earning #250k in Lagos.

If you have a masters from ABU and a masters from UNILAG, ABU stands a better chance of landing a good federal job in abuja...

Zaria is cool calm, the hustle and bustle is mild compared to Lagos, Lagos is *Mad* the hustle is terrible, the traffic is hell, the air self is fucking polluted...

My brother, stay in Zaria, grow academically as soon as possible and move to better jobs...

It's not your friend, it's you.

I've lived in both cities and I'll advise you to stay in Zaria. Food, housing and transportation are cheaper in Zaria than in Lagos. And let's not talk about the stress of living and working in Lagos. The 50,000 won't make much difference. Lagos troubles will zap it off.

Zaria is not a small town. Your friend should consider the cost living before making any move
Re: My Friend Is Confused by vibbb: 9:05pm On May 06, 2021
130k is not bad to start with in Lagos depending on the area of d job, if d job is at island (VI) obviously he can't afford accommodation in that area so he should project ikorodu as an alternative means, meaning he has to be waking up as early as possible to beat traffic.
If your friend want to improve his career he can consider Lagos if only he can cut his coat according to his size, he will definitely survive.
