In my opinion, that is basically an employer and employee relationship, it does not mean you have been accepted into his circle.

On second point, you have to look at the calibre of people getting funding in Nigeria, most are not from the average joe family and many studied abroad or are dual nationalities. To get it correctly, only few are accepted.

Also some did open applications for YC and other incubators or VC firms, the reality is that the relationship is still just like an employer and employee relationship until you have proven yourself either by making cash for the investors before you are accepted.

This is my opinion, it does not mean i do not agree with what you wrote down.

Alright, fair enough

I like you comment but i have only one thing to write down.

He has been working in that bank for 5 years, why didn't contact and good network help in getting a more better job.

From my little understanding of things.

Networking is over rated, the reality is 89% of result oriented networking mostly happens within top management and these people dislike outsiders, This is just my observation.

You nailed it, fact

Start by doing bolt driving on the weekends and maybe few hours after work. See how that suits you, then you can make a decision.

So I'm a graduate of civil engineering, but work as a contract staff in a bank for over 5years with 100k salary.

I bought a functional car which fit into bolt but I'm scared of resigning from my job as I have family responsibilities.

This bank work doesn't give me opportunity to grow with them and time to do other side hustle and I know one day it's either they sack me or I leave.(but one must happen)

Please I need advice if I should still continue this work or start street hustle.

Note: I save the money for this car from salary and side hustle base on what I studied in school.

If you live in Ph, then quit that job and get on bolt. You can make that money in a week.

Sir please keep your bank job
100k monthly currently in Nigeria is no joke
90% of persons advising you to resign don't have any meaningful job/business
You can start savings or better still invest in cryptos and stocks with 5-10% of your monthly salary.
As for your car, if the distance to work is far, keep your car I don't think it would cost much maintenance as you only drive in the morning and evening then occasionally during weekends
If you have a wife, get her engaged in a descent profitable venture
Please and please
Don't sack yourself
Driving work isn't easy as you think
Save and invest for the raining days
Thanks and God bless your family

I advice you don't resign from your banking job. You can still be working with them and also take the bolt riding stuff as a side hustle... diversify source of income(do it on weekends).
Guy, there's no joy in the street.

Bolt driver all the way....but before you begin please have 6 months budget for fueling and servicing of the vehicle.

Your 100k salary may look like gold to you now but you can make all that in two weeks as a bolt driver if you are in Lagos or Abuja. Understanding of route, traffic and traffic laws is the key.

Do not be trapped by your salary, the world is yours for the taking if you have enough balls to take risks.

That being said, I wish you all the best in your future endeavours.

How sure are you about the claims on bolt driving? Don't be deceived, bolt and uber are no longer paying as they used to.

Dude, Bolt isn’t what it is cracked up to be.
As a matter of fact if not having time for your family is the reason you would want to quit your job then Bolt will not allow you to be with your family neither.
To keep up with family needs you will need to work tirelessly from morning to night.
Don’t mind all these people preaching 100k in 2 weeks. No be beans. There is car issues, maintenance, clash with law enforcement and task force, etc. now put family needs in the mix.
Bolt is becoming too oversaturated to wanna quit your job and hang on to it. People ain’t making as much as they used to. Even 25k returns per week now is becoming a serious hassle.

Just stick with your job and hope to get a reasonable person to do the bolt for you.
When you get enough money for like 2 cars, then you can think about quitting. Even at that sef. Bros, e get wetin Hausa people det call “saki reshe kama ganye” meaning losing certainty for uncertainty... no be wise choice. Just dey your job and look for better business to invest in

I won't advise you to give the car to someone to drive for you.

If you cannot find time to drive the car commercially during weekends then seek training to acquire a skill for a business you can do yourself

Register for bolt n give a trusted friend/person to drive while you are still working. Work n save a million or 2 as you did to buy the car. Then decide on what to invest in!

Like I said understanding of route and traffic laws is the key to Bolt/Uber driving in Nigeria.

Say you are stationed around the airports, Island, Maitama, Asokoro etc you can be very lucky if you are the early bird type.

Don't resign from your job, one of the ways of moving forward in the banking industry, is gaining experience in one bank and applying for higher position in another bank.

Instead of resigning, have 2 streams of income.

Work in your bank and give your car out for hire purchase.

Please do not give your car for hire purchase. Even a blood related driver will frustrate you.

He can use his on weekends or holidays. Its better you other business than daily or hire purchase for uber other form of transport business.

Daily delivery: the driver knows you are fully responsible maintenance, he uses your recklessly.

Hire Purchase: of course he is responsible for maintenance. However he needs to care for himself/his family; and then to you as the owner of the car. Who he will do is to join others of like mind for contribution. The essence of the contribution is to buy his own car. The pressure to care of himself and family; maintenance the car (for the time he needed to care himself and buy a new car. The practice is that for the first 4 weeks or so he will pay your money to give false confidence that he is up to the task, then after that he beginning to give excuses of police, lastma etc to avoid weekly payment. Once he gets his own car or something to make him independent, you will the full blown of his attitude.

Giving the nature of banking work, you will hardly have time to manage the business. The best thing is if you can have time to combine your banking job and the transport business.

Advice: Set a time for yourself to save for the business (e-hailing, that is uber and others) you can personally manage then you pull out of the banking job rat race. Before you pull out, ensure you have information about the current state of things on the business.

If you can not do it yourself, do not waste your hard money. Even soldiers that have money and means to deal with the non-sense of driver are frustrated out of the business.

Rubbish advice! I am a bolt driver. People who don't drive think it's a goldmine, osino "you will make 100k in 2weeks"!,
Bro, on this platform you see our threads complaining...
Let me tell you as it is: you won't make anything tangible, the fares are marginal, anything you make, you use to service your vehicle, fuel and bolt commission, plus you're exposed to massive risks especially at night...oh and you have to put in times 2 of the hours you currently put in to make just half of what you currently make. My advice: stay with your job, the way you got this car, get another, put it out for hire purchase and use it as a side hustle...

Re: Bank Work Or Bolt Driver? by toolate2fail(m): 6:22pm On May 09, 2021
Guy continue your work try do bolt weekend and after close of work for like two hours daily.

Now this is the calculation the two hours you do bolt and some few weekends that you do bolt use what you make from it to settle bills and for car matainance car then save all your salary.

Save money made from your side hussle too. Do this for one year you will see what you have saved.

Transport biz is luck most expecially since you are the first person that drove that car you buy.

If you must give out the car give it to logistics outlet and they will be paying you every week.

Dont advice someone to just invest in crypto if u wont make dem understand the fundamentals of crypto.......the best approach to crypto is to buy and forget, in some cases for years.....put 5m in crypto now, e fit become 2m in 2 months, but that 2m can become 100m in years ....its difficult to advice the poster without knowing his long term goals.....if hes looking at travelling out OR raising funds for some business, he should do uber/bolt......he has higher chances of raising funds for something bigger compared to 100k salary...He should not give car out on Higher Purchase..except he has a mechanism to inspect the car every week and retrieve his car almost immediately

3.Head non teller
4. Head CSO (might be 2 most times)

Rest na contract staff
. That's for operations unit

Those for marketing unit varies.

@op needs to plan his steps quick cos he got probably 2-4yrs left.

He better put the vehicle on HP and gather cash for another. If he can raise up to three vehicles, be can resign and manage one himself because I can bet he is way pass the conversion age required
