Someone without brain can't win the highest award in his field. You should check your own brain bruh.
as if he would have won d award without d help of Nigerians that brought him to limelight before he could be recognized internationally, his source is Nigeria whether he likes it or not and a river that forgets it's source will dry off

He should expunge anything Afrobeat in his music, he should go purely R&B, Pop and Hip Hop, he should relocate completely out of Nigeria and when he comes he should be as a visiting artist. He should relinquish all his endorsements in Nigeria.

Then we can take him serious on his wild goose chase. Very arrogant somebori cool lipsrsealed

Grammy winner, Burna Boy has come under attack for saying he does not make money from Nigeria.
Burna on Tuesday while responding to tweets by fans on Twitter said he is not a Nigerian artist and does not make money from here.

According to him, Nigeria is just for cruise.

His fans did not take his comment lightly as some went online lamenting about the number of times they streamed Burna’s music and attended his concerts.

Here are some comments gathered by DAILY POST from Twitter;

@Enacruzly “You are indirectly saying, we the fans in Nigeria streaming your music are not adding anything to your growth.”

@Bright_r “Burna Boy says he’s not a Nigerian artiste but can’t make a hit song without stealing lines from Fela music. The irony. Someone should remind him that 60% of his biggest songs came from Fela.”

@ DavidRegha “Burna Boy you are still a Nigerian artiste, winning a Grammy and having collaborations with foreign artistes won’t change that; Nigerians are the reason you are thriving in the music industry so stop feeling pompous. This attitude is the reason a lot of people dislike your personality.”

@Iamcandychief “Does that mean the person that said your success is tied to Atlantic is right? If you don’t make money from Nigeria, so why the Naija concerts? If you don’t make money from Nigeria so why are you using Afrobeats to make money?

@DekingKudos “If that’s the case, I think you should just make your next album unavailable for your Nigerian audience and let’s see how far you will go.”

@Greatkd2 “Na only Burna Nigeria fans I pity Sha

All your efforts wey you dey use stream that zoo album Burna still say he no dey make money from Nigeria.”

@Carbon3_0 “Sigh but I dey stream your music with money.”

@Innovativenig “You changed your dealer? You shouldn’t be caught tweeting this man! A lot of us including myself pre-ordered your albums. So how about your endorsements chief?

@ImmanuelSaba “So, Nigerians streaming your music are doing charity, noted.”
@JoeyAkan “ Burna Boy is stating the truth. The Nigerian music industry is growing and there are multiple income streams being created. But the current Holy Grail of Nigerian music is when the music travels and earn forex. Musicians make more money outside Nigeria than within the space.”

@Otunba “Lmaooo Burna don finally accept say Atlantic dey buy streams for am, baba say he no dey make money from Nigeria? Outsiders that paid for Burna’s concert in Eko hotel in 2018 in the mud.”

@Itzbasito “Burna Boy no rate his 11 outsiders at all, imagine saying na only cruise they give you.”

@ Dammy426 “ Our bragging right don increase, as Burna denied himself as a Nigerian, Wizkid is now the first and the only Nigerian artist to win Grammy.”

So you actually think if burna boy was 1, he would have been where he is today.
He did not capitalise on Nigeria afrobeat to get to where he is.

You think if burna boy was Kenya, he would this successful?

Do you know how much Nigerians in diaspora do to market Nigerian music.?

They should make him an experiment.
Stop trending his music anywhere in the world and watch him slowly fade away.
His musical influence he owes to Nigeria, whether he acknowledges that or not. His bodies of work are all by his own effort. The fact that he has a wider range of musical ability than most other artists from here is strictly his own talent.
Nigerians in diaspora market Nigerian music quite a lot. Yet, the song Ye mainly blew up when a bunch of white people started praising the song after they found it while looking for Kanye West’s “Ye”. Then other’s who had listened to the whole album started talking of which songs were their favorite. Then Burna’s Nigerian fans also joined in...before we knew it, everyone here was famzing the boy.
Before all this happened, I personally remember being pained with how Nigerians were ignoring the Outside album. That’s why nobody can tell me anything on this Burnaboy issue...he was very much ignored here. I remember it clearly.

Burna owes his initial musical influence to this country. You are right about that. But currently, his music isn’t strictly for Nigerians. His range is too wide for him to claim he’s just a Nigerian artist (take “Real Life” for example).

You contributed to his growth by downloading his song for free... And also pirating his DVDs.
How many of you ever use your money to buy his song or pay to attend his concert?

Artistes dont make money as expected in nigeria.
Piracy is the biggest problem.
While there is no functional government to tackle it.

I love their tears for real grin grin grin

Most of these streaming apps always provide streaming reports. Burna knows those streaming his songs, where they live, etc. Boy has seen that home based folks are nothing but nuisance. All they do is pull you down with negativity.

They did to Mr Eazi, man ran to Ghana and became a star. They did same to Yemi Alade. Right now, she no even send any bloddy Nigerian to stream her songs. She knows where her fans reside. The list is endless.
we need to change this toxic mentality.it is not helping anybody.i don't know whether it's a mental health issue or post traumatic military rulership filled with violence and oppresiveness.i can't place it between the 2.this pattern of behaviour seems to be all over the place and all over sectors and stratas and it's now a vicious cycle.

Everywhere.its in the banking sector
Religious sector
Entertainment industry
Sports industry
Fashion industry
Commercial industry
Food industry etc and I begin to wonder I thought we're highly religious in this country.we obeserve Ramadan fast, church fast and other religious rites,so why can't we imbibe the principles of our religion particularly people kill and fight for it

And as for Burna boy knowing who streams his music,it's obvious the streaming has MADE him know where he belongs and where he is wanted/loved and celebrated and it's very natural that you gravitate to wherever you are loved and valued even if it is not from your people

It's just sad and painful that we don't value what we have as Africans and that is what the western world and the Chinese are taking advantage of

Nigeria doesn’t do something like this enough and are subsequently taken for granted. Nigeria has great peoplepower potential but we are too soft, too kind. Nigerians have a very great country but are way too apologetic about being Nigerians –and for no great reason at all given the state of the world – Nigerians need to get up of their knees and stop putting up with crap, enough is enough!

Nigerians legitimated Nigeria by engaging in a civil war to keep the country one, Lord Lugard ceased to count from the end of that war.
