Even in Lagos, I know someone that was recently asked to save her life and leave the house for her physically abusive hubby.

She had reported him to the domestic abuse department of the ministry of justice.

Remember that we are sentimental people, not logical. Nigerians don't like being on the wrong side of the stronger person. They would rather appeal to the weaker person to take it easy,forgive, pray etc.

There are many reasons couples don’t put both of their names on a tenancy agreement or mortgage note and in many situations it is a prudent financial decision.

If you are married you cannot be kicked out merely because your name is not on a tenancy or mortgage note.

What the cops did above is an illegal eviction and they can get in trouble for it, at least a re-training, if the guy pursue the case against them.

Recently the white wife of one of my uncles left the marriage in USA and the court didn't allow her take anything, not even the car she drives.
How on earth my uncle was able to do that baffled me but like he said, he had prepared for the situation even before he got married.

- If you are not on the lease, the person on the lease can tell you to leave. If you like be in a marriage with her, her mother, Mary (Mother of Jesus) and Fatimah (Daughter of the Prophet) all together, you will still have to get out.

If you cannot vouch that your wife (since we are talking to men) is 'different' and geninuely loves you, then do your findings properly before bringing her to the West.

Understand the laws and loopholes to your advantage and disadvantage. Understand how you are expected to conduct yourself and study around from other's mistakes on what you should and shouldn't do.
