You know nothing.

No pain, no gain. The poor ones will suffer some marginal pains now in exchange for future, long-term gains.

Have you ever heard of the concept of "Marginality/Marginalism" in Economics? It's probably too advanced for your dull, catarrh-filled brain.

The marginal pros of removing subsidy far outweigh the marginal cons.

Even the strongest of Buhari's critics accept that subsidy has to go. The economic team of the president which includes seasoned economists like Professor Soludo, Professor Doyin Salami and Birsmark Rewane, has recommended the removal of subsidy. Same as the IMF and world bank but your empty brain thinks otherwise.

Guy, what Nigeria needs now is not subsidy going. Subsidy shouldn't even be in the first place if we were not running this unproductive system of government. Subsidy is a symptom of a bad system.

Make no mistake, I don't fancy subsidy. Whether it goes or not in this current climate will make no positive difference to the common man. What will happen is that the FG and govs will see more money to loot and waste while citizens suffer more.

Reasonable Nigerians have been advising the government to cut down the overblown cost of government but they are not interested because they don't want to loose 1 naira.

Look at the last budget for a country in dire need of money, does it look like a country ready to make amends? If they can't do the little things to help the situation, do you think it will make a difference if they remove subsidy?

By the way, there have been partial subsidy removal in the last 4 years, what have they done with it?

The only solution for Nigeria is a complete restructuring of the country to spur productivity. With this, subsidy will die a natural death.

Subsidy removal or not does not affect me directly, I don't live in Nigeria. However, I am a human being and it pains me seeing people suffer for nothing while politicians enjoy.

And you keep missing a simple point I don't know why.
Who told you Nigeria has to produce 10mbpd to keep fuel prices at below 200naira a litre without subsidy? undecided

Because we might earn the revenue from the 10mbpd that can pay for the subsidy...and even then it isn't enough.

Dangote's refinery that is said to satisfy local consumption and have some to export has just a capacity of 600,000bpd.
Doesn't that tell you that all Nigeria needed to have done is beef up production with an extra 450,000bpd which will go to its local refinery and still it will export it's 2mbpd and still earn fx from there?

Dangote will get to 300000bpd by 2030...HE won't reach full production immediately. Plus, our petrol needs are growing.....one dangote refinery might not satisfy everyhting

300000bpd will meet about 3/4 of our needs now...that is if all Dangote's refienry does is produce petrol

You keep talking about losses and subsidy and I ask you,
Why would you need the subsidy when clearly this solves it?
The refinery will be maintained very well from its sales proceeds and the operators of these new wells that will produce this extra 450,000bpd can be paid with oil as usual which will come from this same field,so I wonder what you are talking about.
How are bunkerers managing their own facilities too when they too sell way below N150/l?
Nothing will happen to Nigeria's income and the fuel problem would have been solved.

Subsidy means there is a price control which means fuel is sold below its cost perproduciton of liter...meaning Dangote won't make enough profit to pay for maintaning his refinery.

NNPC refienreis failed in part because of the above.

As for power, that is something else as I wasn't talking about it.

Still read the document...it explains why we use generators.

One more thing, even as I have wished you well, your calling me a 'dunce' and 'not very bright' was not right, but downright rude, especially as I thought we were having a discussion, not a 'abuse' match

Remember niether of us is in government. What we say here won't infulence government policy . I doubt that I can as I am not an elected official anyway.

People are going to disagree with you in life....and calling them 'dunces' when they do gives them a poor opinion of you.

I'm still trying to understand something shey if all our celebrities, some of those polithiefians and clergymen who led the protest during Jonathan adminstration come out to protest against bad governance will they die?? or police/army go shoot all of them dead?? so why are they not speaking up or calling for a protest yet??

Even if they cannot why can't we Nigerians come out ourselves and say NO?? for Army to withdraw some soldiers from Borno to the East to fight ESN tells alot how weak our security forces are at the moment....so why Nigerians still dey fear?? or dem go withdraw security officers from Borno to all part of Nigeria??

Tell me something!

they will use them as target practice

A lot of Nairalanders and Nigerians at large are either too dumb or politically sentimental to know that subsidy favours the rich more.

Most of the idiots lamenting here don't even have cars and generators they fuel. Meanwhile, the wealthy ones out there who fuel their V8-engine cars and big generators with cheap fuel on a daily basis are indifferent.

Mama Kamoru in Ogbomosho who has little need for fuel is being denied basic infrastructures and social amenities because the government needs to subsidize fuel for Pocohantas, Ishilove, Dominique, Seun Osewa, Davido, Timaya, Saheed Osupa, Segun Agbaje, Jim Ovia and Femi Otedola.

The poor will no doubt bear some pains in the short run but the removal of subsidy will be of great benefits in the long run.

Subsidy needs to go!
What's ur main point
