Have a talk with your friend concerning paying you salary or profit sharing.

Where he refuses start house to house laundry service. From there you will get money to start your laundry business.

I wish you good luck

I love the last part of your statement. DONT GROW SO MUCH AND START CHEATING D PERSON DAT GAVE YOU CAR( infact don't give excuses) no matter what, when sales is low, still try and deliver his money because when sales is good, you won't give him more

If you can drive, find someone to give you taxi to drive that better than what you currently do. But pls, do cheat your employer or the person who gives u the vehicle. [/quote]

Oga, that's very very wrong thinking.

The problem is, we are not an industrial country, otherwise., OND, ND would have been the ones running our industrial system well well.

The demeaning of vocational and technical educaiton in this country, plus our hankering for 'office jobs' is why we are underdeveloped as a nation. Develooped nations are industrial nations, and vocational and technical grads play a key role in building up the inudstrial backbones of developed nations.

And as for NCE....who are the majority of teachers in nursery and primary schools across the country? NCE holders. They are very very important.

Infact, one thing that annoys me about my life is that i have no mechanical skills...if I had, I would be using them well well to build and fix things. Maybe spend some time in a polytechnic...before I top it up with degree

Keep pushing and be prayerful, you will have course to give testimony as soon as possible. I was once in your shoe, at 31 my monthly salary was 22k from a teaching job. While doing that I was pushing and attending seminars, at the same time I was developing my programming skills. Later I got a 32k job in Lagos, though it doesn't worth it cos I spend almost all on tfare (surulere - Allen) but I decided to go for it in order to gather some experiences, teaching was not adding any value. The job gave me opportunity to develop myself and within 4 months I secured another 60k job, a web designer position in another company where I also spent 9 months. In a nutshell, I currently earn 160k in another company and day in day out I'm still developing myself in pursuance of getting better pay.

The bottom line of my story is , you should not give up. At 31 I was almost the same shoe of yours, I'd advise that you develop your self and keep pushing. Also be prayerful. God will crown your efforts with success

I wish there's a place you can stay in Lag. There are so many teaching jobs you can start with then from there you can move on to your dream job.

There are even schools that will offer you accommodation. A nairalander got an offer like that and shared it here last week or so.

There's even another that advertised in lekki. They offer accommodation too.

Search for the thread in education or jobs section. You may be lucky to find her post.

Also do not forget to keep praying to God to open a book of remembrance concerning you. Prayer works wonders.

Pls bro, can you link me with teaching job that offers accommodation in lekki?
Thanks in advance

I would have loved to remain anonymous, but what's the point?

My problem is I'm a jobless graduate, who works for a friend. This friend I work for, doesn't even pay, he just gives me stipends after every work I do. It's a laundry work. He owns the shop, so he's in charge of everything in the shop including, collections of money and all. My work is just to work. I do virtually everything in the shop.

My problem is this guy almost all the time collects the money and doesn't even give me my share. The only time I see my share is when the I'm around when the monies are given to him.

I'm hooked because I mostly feed in there house, because the shop is just within the house. I tried to get a good job, but nothing is forth coming. I even tried applying for casual jobs, still no luck.

I'm currently in a dilemma because my parents are tired of me staying in there house, so currently I sleep in the shop, and it's not even conducive, but that's the only option I have.

I tried contacting my relatives in Lagos if I could go and make a living there, but they aren't really interested me coming.

Please I kindly need advise and help, because I'm heading towards depression.

I'm actually 30 years old. With nothing to show for, except "I'm a graduate" tag.
...... Incase you're thinking of giving up bro, just remember there are worse things that can happen to a man.... U gat a tool in hand, your life..... I want you to have hope for the future while you keep searching...... Your friend may think he's playing smart with you but trust me, he's only doing himself and preparing you for a sweeter journey....... Keep applying for jobs, keep making responsible friends both online and offline.... Go on Twitter, post you need a job on career handles.... Go on LinkedIn...... Just do all you can but never ever give up...... Don't blame yourself for achieving nothing at the age of 30......this country doesn't give much chances to those of us who are not privileged to be born into wealthy and famous families..... But your parents sha no do well..... In this trying time, they are the ones that's supposed to encourage you not chasing you out of the house..... It's this gesture that makes alot of youths out there do all they can and with any means possible to make money but that not withstanding.... Don't give up........ Your breakthrough is almost here

Hmmm, brother, Though I am 32, a graduate of mechanical engineering. If I had allowed myself to be depressed due to my situation,I would have died. My parents are not rich and they are no more again.

Yes, I have brothers, one of them was ok, I told him to help me travel out, he doesn't answer. And I said this for the sake of the family.

I left my state for Lagos to stay with a brother that has wife n kid.

I trekked so hard in Lagos that I almost moved all around Lagos looking for job. Even so recruitment company still collected money from me and yet, nothing.

Even if I want to learn something, I will have to pay but where is the money.

I sold my land at home to do a maritime course at ikoyi when one of my brothers' friends linked me to a captain. I called tired after wasting that money on the course yet, I have not gotten any reply from captain that promised to help and asked me to go ahead with the course. Since last year August that I finished the course, I have not heard from him. Even when I call, he won't pick, so I gave up that that is not my job. I want to start as oiler on the ship.

I worked at a generator company for almost 2years just for peanut of 20k per month when I will still enter transport and feed. I currently live with friends after leaving that bro house when he moved to another place.

Presently, a bros I knew way back at home was the one that helped me get a casual work at a company. Imagine a graduate, 32years, I have not been able to rent apartment of my own, I couldn't go home,no girlfriend.

I lost two girls just cos I haven't gotten on my feet.

One even said I am not the kind of guy she wants to roll with. But I didn't die hearing that. I just let it pass.

I love the girl despite being a baby mama. And this is a girl we dated before I went for service, thinking things will be good and u will marry her. She's yet to marry now and she's 29.

Brother, let believe, things will surely work out well.

I love as you spoke out. You will see that help will come. We are in the same shoe.
. Stay strong bro. While reading your story I was hoping it would have a better ending. Your breakthrough is on the way. Don't give up bro. God will bless all our hustle for a better life.

hmmm, it is well. why not look for non certificate jobs like sales person, factory worker etc and start from there. you can start life with that, at least you will receive stable salary at the end of the months. later you can learn a good skills and start your business if good certificate job is not forthcoming

Nice advice. Let him go learn a skill. In short from this your advice it's clear that Nigerian youths should learn a skill and perfect it B4 proceeding to higher institution.

There's this argon welder in my area, I learn the guy didn't finish primary school. That guy is so good in that skill, he works with Saipem, I learned he earns over a million monthly.

This welder guy is someone who can't even spell boy or girl, but with his money he married a graduate, has built 3 houses so far, all his elder siblings are all graduate but he is the most industrious of them all......
