Did you graduate in 2016? How have you been coping?

After all these years all I can point at is a teaching job I Engaged in Fetching 15k a month. I quit tho after innumerable nonsense and pathetic experiences.

I feel like I am not doing enough. I feel like I am not trying enough. When I look at my dad and see his Grey hair, I feel like I have failed him because I am still eating his food bought with monthly pension. I am still sleeping and waking up under his roof at over 30years old.

As a child, I remembered the week when I was to enter Jss1, dad took me to a boutique and bought me a very fine white canvass. Now over the years I can't even afford to buy him a shoe. The last time I bought him anything was 2017 during my NYSC.

I feel I have failed not only him but a lot of people that hoped in me to become something reasonable. Laundry sef no work, always in the shop regretting my entire journey. Maybe I should have waited and studied another course or maybe I should have just chosen and engaged in a trade with with my 100 level tuition embarassed

I just regret everything. Under the hot sun, People will see me walking from one company to another establishment with my credentials. Most times i have to Beg for money just to move from one place to another online. The situation is that terrible

I have asked myself what I am doing wrong but I apply to jobs everyday. Or maybe I am afraid of starting a family on 15k salary just like most of my colleagues back in university. We do meet and they tell me how I am delaying in starting a family, and then goes ahead to tell me how poor their teaching salaries are and how they have had to depend on friends and family. But me I have no one to fall on.

A times I feel really sad and end up praying for those unemployed graduates going through the same phase I am phase I am passing through. Even though you don't know me, I pray for you

If you like go and marry, then you will understand things better.

P.S. Change your career plans to something that will pay you well for what you can offer. Don't think on embarking on certain professional courses as jobs in those industries come with age caps.

We're in the same shit bro.

Graduated since 2017, no reasonable thing since then.

Frustration and depression has turned me to a sadist.

I'm just a walking corpse, looking forward to resting in peace someday. cry

Op,

Ask your self this question…. Are you doing the things you love to do, or you do things to please others?

If the later is what you do, know that you are in the early phase of your suffering.

When I hear youths complain bout this and that, I look at them with disgust.

There are more than a thousand and one ways to create wealth for yourself and your unborn kids, you just need to start something small and grow it. With Focus, determination, patience and discipline, you will get there.

ADIOS!

I didn't know where my life was heading at your age..I was completely lost.. Nothing to show for at my age and kept relying on the largesse of my family for survival..but today at a age less than 40 it will shock you what I have been able to achieve by God's grace within this space of time..I have a family of my own, mobility, a property I'm currently developing and I have been able to support my extended family even more than my expectations..These achievement I owe fully to the undying grace of God that I enjoy and my resilience and never give up attitude.

So my brother don't give up, keep pushing and don't stop adding value to yourself and most especially be close to God your Creator. He holds the template of your life and even before you were born He already knew you. He can lead you to your destination.

I wish you all the best.

Nigerias system is a failed system, we put far too much emphasis on white collar jobs and focus less on craftsmanship. Only few percentage of white people have a university degree yet their system is designed in such a way that everything is balanced and everybody is needed, unlike here where everybody want to have a PhD and nobody want to go into "hand work" and this has created a kind of saturation in the white collar job market. Am not saying having a PhD is bad but we put far too much emphasis on paper certificate and look far down on people going into craftsmanship. I know of a young mechanic who has built 2 good houses all in a short interval. I know of a bricklayer that recently got 15million Naira worth of contract for plastering some houses. painting, screeding n pop are also very demanding jobs and people doing it are also not doing bad at all. The moment we think of dumping our certificates and getting cooperate with these "hand work" hustles the better for our youths.

@OP...You are a graduate and yet you don't have an extra online skill or don't know how to earn via online with what you learnt in school/university but can be comfortably browsing for 20hrs daily watching movies and every other frivolity but complain of financial constraints not knowing it's your very undoing(Fault).

Do you know that no matter what you study or know the online space has persons or organizations in the look out for such hands?
Most times the reason why people don't earn via Online is because they don't know how to go about monetizing whatever knowledge or qualification they have acquired!

Recently a Forklift Driver reached out via the facebook ID and wanted to learn transcribing but along the line we discovered he was versatile in his profession so I had to get him mentored on how to document his activities & knowledge after 3weeks mentorship he now earns @least $140 weekly with his podcast of the different viable alternatives in forklift procession...recently he was contacted by an online firm through lensa.com that requires remote forklift drivers that can use AI to work.

CODEDRUNS004:

This is part of the problem we have in the country now. Everyone is using graduates to catch out. Imagine this one. Online skill.

They will want to take advantage of a frustrated graduate in the name of skill acquisition. This is what I call hustling on top of another man's hustle.

They will be coming out gradually. Awon skillful Ronaldo and messi them FT motivational speakers.

Imagine your insolence? I'm sure that's how you address your elders and siblings in your family SMH @your toxic self been shown in a public forum as NL.
Your toxic outburst negates the moniker you are using ....shows that so many persons here like you and that moniker are a direct opposite just like the moniker I quoted above you earlier.
I hope you are not depressed if you are try get well soon....im sure the mods are seeing this....next time learn to spell as (write) SMH @you once again.

I sympathise with you and everyone going through this phase, I pray that things get better as soon as possible.

However, I do not feel the situation is that bad.
I think there are still several opportunities in this country that will fetch far more than 15k monthly.

Dont look down on yourself.dont ever let yourself think or feel you are not doing enough

Since bubu entered, almost all Nigerians are feeling the effects one way or the other.keep working, keep dreaming of a brighter tomorrow, keep speaking life into your tomorrow

The grass is always greener on the side.some Nigerians think that it's until they travel outside of the country before they can do better, when they reach there they realise abroad social media is completely different from what really obtains abroad.america is glossy on social media and Tyler Perry movies until you reach there and see that there are some parts of Chicago and Baltimore that are not different from Oshodi or ajangbadi

Stay where God has put you and excel there.location is not a determinant of success
