Poe: Dulles

Visa type: B1 (visitors)

Immigration officer: why are you here?

Me: for a cesarean after a ***** surgery.

IM: health related

Me: yeah

IM: how much do you have with you?

Me: *** Dollars

IM: alright follow this officer

Me: follows officer to where they made me fill a form to declare the cash.

My bags for scanned and that’s all. I was escorted by a related who was stamped in for 6 months. Mine was left open, no 6 months stamp. My visa expires feb 2021.

My advice: for those of you coming through Dulles, no need to lie. They didn’t send me away and they didn’t stress me. I didn’t have to lie.

Best of luck to everyone and I wish y’all safe deliveries

Hi send me a dm , I’ll give you someone’s contact I use to ship from the USA and the Uk. Shipping of your phone is minimum weight and should not cost more than $30 to your door step in naija. I’d have dropped the contact here but I don’t think it’s allowed just yet.

Congratulations on your smooth entry and all the best with the remaining part of your journey,
I’ve always known Washington Dulles to be a stress free POE. If I may ask, were you really showing ?
As it stands the problem isn’t even with the border officers , the problem is getting a visa in naija.

Thank you very much and Amin . I’m showing. I was asked at the Abuja airport (by Qatar air staff) to provide fitness for flight because I currently look very pregnant. I prepared all docs just in case, so I showed them the doc signed by my doctor. I wasn’t asked for any doc at Dulles POE. I got my visa long before I got married, so I didn’t have visa processing issues.

I know right, i can never hide any pregnancy because my face always always gives me out to begin with even if my tummy isn’t showing yet.
Those naija airline airport staffs always doing the most as if bribe is not their middle name, one time those Middle Eastern airlines were even interrogating pregnant women during transit in Qatar & Dubai respectively and since then I had it in mind to avoid them like a plague.

Thank you very much. These are my hospital options for now
1)Holy Cross hospital (Dr. Moore OBGYN)
2) university of Maryland hospital
3) medstar

I’ve started visiting these places as my previous medical records were collected. I need to 5-7 days to know whether my case would be accepted.

I currently do not know the total cost implications.

I will tell them to return it back to the country of origin grin it’s not even funny , I had a similar issue in 2014 with UPS where I had to pay 110k as import duties for makeup products, I went to the airport myself to negotiate with custom officers and got it slightly reduced and it was a very very frustrating ordeal.

Avoid major courier companies like a plague.Instead, use freight forwarders. A friends brother sent him an IPhone 12 via Ups and he got a custom bill of 160k outside the money his brother paid Ups for sending it. Meanwhile I got the same phone from the Us via a freight forwarder and total money paid was 31k,which includes both sending and clearing cost.

It’s a long story but worth the read and someone might find it useful

I had my son at Oakbend Hospital 2018 and all bills were cleared with the zero balance letter issued . Fast-track to 2019, my husband was chosen as one of the Obama scholar to study at Colombia University NY and needed a J1 visa {That’s where my story began}

I wrote on this platform 2019 , how my husband was denied 3times because the VO keep saying we got discount which was what majority of applicant was going through because of the trump rules as regards people that have birth in the US .

To cut the long story , we got an immigration lawyer and Oakbend was able to give us the real itemized bill WITHOUT discount ...
we paid 10,000 to have the full zero balance letter .

My husband got his J1 Visa after the payment and proceeded for the program ... fast forward to December 2019, I applied to go and visit him and was DENIED .. After presenting all payment and documents , tried again and was placed on administrative processing, afterwards , my expired visa was REVOKED
.

I totally gave up ..........................
2020 .... Corona happened

2021 ....
We were able to get an appointment date for May after paying an agent 200,000 for both of us within 3weeks .

May 5th ... We were at the embassy , the VO didn’t ask lot of question..
- Asked my husband why we were visiting the US and what he does for a living
- Looked through his passport and continue typing
- Faced me, and ask what I do for a living
- Looked through my passport too and saw the REVOKED visa .
- Approved my husband’s visa and placed me on administrative processing because he need to know why the previous visa was REVOKED .
I explained in my ds-160 that their must have been a mistake because revoked was written with pen on my expired visa and the dates didn’t align .

Today , May 25th, my visa got APPROVED and passport is ready for pickup .

Will be having my second child at Houston but definitely not OAKBEND.
And will be declaring at the POE my intent to come give birth .

Thank you for reading and hope someone find this useful .

NB - At the embassy , I noticed lot of people were granted visa and they didn’t ask for any receipt if you gave birth in the US before .

Congratulations Rozeybid, such an ordeal but God win last last. @Godheard it’s better for you to avoid oakbend after reading her ordeal and how she had to pay $10k to get the itemized bill and you’re still considering oakbend, moreover I’ve heard a lot of unpleasant things about oakbend in recent times that I started hospital shopping in Houston.
