Op,

Ask your self this question…. Are you doing the things you love to do, or you do things to please others?

If the later is what you do, know that you are in the early phase of your suffering.

When I hear youths complain bout this and that, I look at them with disgust.

There are more than a thousand and one ways to create wealth for yourself and your unborn kids, you just need to start something small and grow it. With Focus, determination, patience and discipline, you will get there.

ADIOS!

This ones don't know anything about growing anything o, their own is that it must be a big company with big money or burst. If you force or coarse them to take 25k salary from a small company and opportunity to grow with the company . The next thing is to rob the owner till he regrets starting a business in Nigeria.

I sit down with some friends looking to start a small business in Nigeria I always advice them to not do it because when they start they will quickly realize that NEPA is not the problem but youths who wants to rob you blind.

We are in the same shoe as well,I also graduated in 2017.My best friends who is working in Lagos promised to get me job in his company and to stay with him for a while till I get my accommodation.
But unfortunately he disappointed me.I have even got security job where they have agreed to be paying me 28k but people said that such work did not good for me as a graduate.
Those people that said that disappointed me and could not help me in terms of feeding, accommodation e t c even during cov19 lockdown
See I suffered like mad because it is private school am teaching collecting 15k
The worst thing is that I am an orphan who did hard job to see myself through in University.Although some people contributed.Infact I regretted of going to school.

Even if you have to work and walk alone in the dark, do not give up, there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Lemme share my story... It may help.

I graduated in 2016, served 2017 and there life started. I hustled a teaching job of 40K and home lessons of about 45K per month. During this period of about 9 monhts, I saved up about 300K or so and started my MSc in UniPORT.

Cos I knew I had no family funding for the programme, I went all out hustling. I taught my course mate courses and assisted them with their assignments for cash. I made sure I came out as the best so I can sell my sell to them so that they would know my capacity for referral.

I built my research skills that helped me open a consulting firm after finishing the programme. It started small but we are making tremendous progress.

Most importantly, I started taking God seriously. I changed church to Winners chapel followed the teachings and started giving and sowing recklessly.

Things turned out so amazing that I send money home to support them and live comfortably well.

I'm literally earning projected annual earnings in a Month currently.

It's been God all the way.

Lesson:

Put in work... Look an opportunity to provide paid service and stop focusing on job hunting.

Get serious with God and sow seeds like mad. It work bro!

All the best!
Sowing of seed really dey work. Just carry all your money give God and watch what happens next

What is 25000 going to do for an individual in NIgeria especially with the rising inflation. Wont your employees eat, rent a house, send their kids to school et al. What will 25000 naira actually do. Besides as an entrepreneur you should never ever expect loyalty from human beings. If you want loyalty get a dog. People work for money. undecided

I was supposed to earn 45k as a marketing executive for my first post NYSC job early 2018 but transport got so expensive that I quited the job middle of the month.
I have earned 15k, 30k and 35k as a teacher but I never did only teaching all those periods.

Thank God for covid19 wahala last year, it was one of the motivating factors alongside my ex-gf shortsightedness, they are few of the things that pushed me to quit teaching job for my personal business, and since then I am always grateful to God.

Although, there are challenges(new startup business challenge etc) but I'm way better than I was those years.

OP, just decide on what you want and start making moves towards it.

Back in 2016. I didn't understand why my dad couldn't volunteer to enroll me into a tertiary education level but insists in me learning a vocational work.
And today, my achievement comparing to my age mates and even to those older than me is immensely incomparable since my own freedom in 2019. Now I always praise my dad, gratifies him. Albeit, in those days I thought he's hurting both my intention and carrier.

Education only in this Nigeria we are is suck and awful.

Think outside the box Mr.. I know this don't happen in Nigeria but outside Nigeria a lot of people do volunteer non paid jobs , some to get experience others to stay at the gate of the company in case there is opening for employment .

Op. said he's been eating his dad's free food since, he could have used that time to gain experience in any company around or learn a valuable skill.

When Chobani first opened back in mid 2000s I know a food processing graduate who volunteered there for one year( get it one year without salary) they eventually placed him on a salary scale, when the company went public he became an instant millionaire. ( from share alocation )

No business can grow without loyalty from human beings little wonder why nothing is working in that country, its never the government but the people after all, the government is a direct sample of the people.

I told some one once that before he can call himself a successful business man in Nigeria he needs to have foreigners working for him. At Dangote refinery Indians and Chinese dominate the place while Nigerian graduates roam the streets because they lack loyalty.

The citizens must be highly unmanageable for any country's private sector to prefer Indians of their people.

Nigerias system is a failed system, we put far too much emphasis on white collar jobs and focus less on craftsmanship. Only few percentage of white people have a university degree yet their system is designed in such a way that everything is balanced and everybody is needed, unlike here where everybody want to have a PhD and nobody want to go into "hand work" and this has created a kind of saturation in the white collar job market. Am not saying having a PhD is bad but we put far too much emphasis on paper certificate and look far down on people going into craftsmanship. I know of a young mechanic who has built 2 good houses all in a short interval. I know of a bricklayer that recently got 15million Naira worth of contract for plastering some houses. painting, screeding n pop are also very demanding jobs and people doing it are also not doing bad at all. The moment we think of dumping our certificates and getting cooperate with these "hand work" hustles the better for our youths.
thank you. I left my certificate and now I'm a mechanic with diagnostic machine working to manage myself

Volunteering in Nigeria is also not easy. I have been there and it was very difficult getting places to volunter for. Your story is just one guy. If the company fails nko what happens to your effort and time.

@OP...You are a graduate and yet you don't have an extra online skill or don't know how to earn via online with what you learnt in school/university but can be comfortably browsing for 20hrs daily watching movies and every other frivolity but complain of financial constraints not knowing it's your very undoing(Fault).

Do you know that no matter what you study or know the online space has persons or organizations in the look out for such hands?
Most times the reason why people don't earn via Online is because they don't know how to go about monetizing whatever knowledge or qualification they have acquired!

Recently a Forklift Driver reached out via the facebook ID and wanted to learn transcribing but along the line we discovered he was versatile in his profession so I had to get him mentored on how to document his activities & knowledge after 3weeks mentorship he now earns @least $140 weekly with his podcast of the different viable alternatives in forklift procession...recently he was contacted by an online firm through lensa.com that requires remote forklift drivers that can use AI to work.

Proactivity Leads To Productivity.
@SeniorWriter

This is part of the problem we have in the country now. Everyone is using graduates to catch out. Imagine this one. Online skill.

They will want to take advantage of a frustrated graduate in the name of skill acquisition. This is what I call hustling on top of another man's hustle.

They will be coming out gradually. Awon skillful Ronaldo and messi them FT motivational speakers.

Did you graduate in 2016? How have you been coping?

After all these years all I can point at is a teaching job I Engaged in Fetching 15k a month. I quit tho after innumerable nonsense and pathetic experiences.

I feel like I am not doing enough. I feel like I am not trying enough. When I look at my dad and see his Grey hair, I feel like I have failed him because I am still eating his food bought with monthly pension. I am still sleeping and waking up under his roof at over 30years old.

As a child, I remembered the week when I was to enter Jss1, dad took me to a boutique and bought me a very fine white canvass. Now over the years I can't even afford to buy him a shoe. The last time I bought him anything was 2017 during my NYSC.

I feel I have failed not only him but a lot of people that hoped in me to become something reasonable. Laundry sef no work, always in the shop regretting my entire journey. Maybe I should have waited and studied another course or maybe I should have just chosen and engaged in a trade with with my 100 level tuition embarassed

I just regret everything. Under the hot sun, People will see me walking from one company to another establishment with my credentials. Most times i have to Beg for money just to move from one place to another online. The situation is that terrible

I have asked myself what I am doing wrong but I apply to jobs everyday. Or maybe I am afraid of starting a family on 15k salary just like most of my colleagues back in university. We do meet and they tell me how I am delaying in starting a family, and then goes ahead to tell me how poor their teaching salaries are and how they have had to depend on friends and family. But me I have no one to fall on.

A times I feel really sad and end up praying for those unemployed graduates going through the same phase I am phase I am passing through. Even though you don't know me, I pray for you

There's a thin line between me giving up and Suicide.... I'm just holding up.
