Ẹ̀gbọ́n, accent or no accent, the only thing that can distinguish dialects in written form all over the world is the right application of diacritics. Even the alphabet of the Arabic language uses diacritics, if you fail to apply it well your readers will be reading another meaning different from what you have in mind.
Baba, this long story is not needed sir
Ofcourse yes, diacritics are adopted to differentiate each word or accent .

All these things has nothing to do with the point at all.

You are just running all over the place, because your "Ȃrẹ" is neither Akokoid nor Yoruba dialects in Akoko or Benin Republic.
And none of the dictionaries or random Screenshots you keep posting show that word as crown or a type of crown

Go back to that Rhektor's post I quoted to learn how to write what you are trying to write with this "Ȃrẹ"
I guess you have never heard the crown called before.. You only read about it without diacritics and are forced to assume its pronunciation grin
You are talking to people here who actually know how it's pronounced
Ife calls Are, Ompetu calls it Are.Perhaps you need visit these places to find out what it means.

Simple “use them correctly”.

His reply should simply have been along the lines of one of the following:

(1) Yes, I already do, (2) Yes, I’ll try, or (3) No, I am not willing to learn how to use them correctly.

How did we get to his tirade of incoherent reply for a simple and clear request?

Go and learn this art. Go and pay your dues. You can’t continue embarrassing yourself like this. Or can you?

I struggled to read this but it makes no meaning, but why? Does it mean that you post what you alone could read? If yes, then why post it on an open forum? This diacritics destroyed whatever you want us to read as it does not present your write up in any Yorùbá dialect. Yoh may have to always post without any diacritic

Go and learn Yoruba diacritics, olodo. That’s the issue at hand. cheesy

If you need me to educate you on the sub-groups of the Yoruba group who reside, even today, close to the Niger-Benue confluence (i.e. the region indicated by linguistics, archaeology, ethnography, and Yoruba mythology) to have been the original area from where the Yorubas first emerged as one ethno-linguistic group; I would gladly do so at some other time.

In the mean time, here are some of the Yoruba groups close to the confluence today: The Bunu, the Ikiri, the Owe, the Oworo, the Ifẹ̀-Ijumu, etc.

Again, go and learn Yoruba diacritics, you can’t keep guessing it wrongly. You’ve been busted. cheesy

Whatever he was trying to write is clearly not Yoruba language, given the so-called diacritics.

The sentence is absurd, incoherent, and unintelligible from the standpoint of Yoruba orthography.

I thought you claimed that you are fluent in Yoruba language with any diacritic signs? But here you are complaining.

Howbeit, you assume that, I am wrong with the diacritics, then try to interprete from your supposedly angle, what your think it means inEnglish translation! Read it and translate it while you consult dictionary if need be and diacritics aswel .

Here are diacritics you said you know:
Circumflex accent(ˆ)
Grave: Low in pitch, tone ( `)
Acute: ( ´ )

With humility do I posit here that this is just a tip of the iceberg. I hope you realised that, our(Yoruba) accents are stylish from one clan or subgroup to the other though intelligible, then you will agree to some extent that our words do have at times, different tonal sound and diacritics.

Perhaps, I will post some similar words and place diacritics on them.

Let's do it this way, why don't you take this your special Yorùbá diacritics to publishers who are interested in publishing Yoruba history or folktales and see if they don't throw it at your face or in the trash can where it belongs

More seriously you dont know nor can actually read Yoruba language. Perhaps you were a full ajebota when you were young without being compelled to read Yoruba books. I pratically wasnt. So, the earliest book to had been read by me, is the Bibeli Mimo! cheesy grin

Kindly translate this :
(if spreading mat without rolling it back up is the mark of wealthy; sandals is the marks of illustrious; if one sings praises oneself loudly ,one is liable to be made a king) grin angry angry Lest we forget, Yoruba dictionary shouldn't be far from our reach to verify the above statement.

Furthermore, Yoruba of West Africa posit the word head as "Ori" . While the Yorubas in North America posit Acute on it as "Orí" . With regards to the above information , I hope you can understand that diacritic signs are modified.

Ori is same as Orí
Ogu(Benin republic) same as Ogun(warrior, lord of war)
Elu is same as Olu(lord)
Aki is same as Akin(brave, bold, courageous )
ọgeh is same ọje(bronze,versatile )
Ikan is same ọkan (one)
uwa is same as ọwa/Iwa(nature,character etc)
ode ,is same as ọde ( to hunt; hunter) etc
etu is same as otu(elders)

My guess can never be as yours please. Without the diacritics it would be easily read but your own diacritics which you and you alone coined and understand has destroyed whatever you want to pass across. The utmost characteristics of communication is for the message that is being sent to be understood by the recipient using an earlier agreed code (language). Bros, this language you wrote earlier is a new language, it has nothing to do with Yorùbá language in any part of the world lol.

You referencing Yorùbá in North/South America or Benin Republic has nothing to do with this discussion, you're only trying to deflect, trying to show here that "I know what I'm saying" it doesn't follow at all. It does not exonerate you from the error in your application of diacritics at all. If I goofed about you being ajebutter then I am not wrong about you being wrong about your view as regard diacritics. So no need to preambulate on this issue.

My candid view is that, you havent realised how deep Yoruba language remains. Infact, I decided to showcase certain words that arent captured by dictionary which are daily words used among dialect speakers among Yorubas, which are different from standard Koine Yoruba spoken and written among Yorubas.

Paradventure you think I am ignorant of this, then consider elementary rhyme to understanding vowel sound: bá,bé,etc..So, if you think like ignorant then,I can not be of a help.

Infact, Ba wa means: exactly, so it is, etc, which is a sample of statemnt used by Egbas . Yet, this statement is not captured in Yoruba dictionary. May be I am wrong? Kindly enlighten us.

Lastly, I am not using defense mechanism but to correct your impression on Yoruba diacritics which need further review to meet up with the reality of the speaker: ritshe/ritse is same risha. and Ashe is same as Ishe.

That Yorùbá language is deep? Lol what a way to hide! The language is so deep that it is only you that understand it cheesy ó deep gan ni, bro you be deeper life?
Would you say those who wrote Ṣàngó as Xango/Zango/Tchango are actually writting that name correctly because they are Yoruba too? Or that those who were taken captives/slaves into the new world (Caribbean, Brazil etc) are the gate keepers of the Yorùbá language lol, those who remain at home has lost it completely àná as such they should learn their language from the same people they sold out into slavery grin
Ẹ̀gbọ́n, you no Sabi use diacritics on Yorùbá language, even my SwiftKey keyboard sabi pass you cheesy
Try downloading and installing SwiftKey ap and use it as your keyboard see if it won't make a mess of your write ups.
Poole wrote Èṣù as Exu, tell me that they are correct and we that write it as Èṣù are wrong undecided undecided

You decide to showcase certain words that aren't captured by dictionary, yet you claim that every word you've written so far are from the dictionary? Liars, truly should have good memory. Báa wà means exactly, certainly etc. yes you're right about that but you will be wrong if you are writing something to the general public and you decide to write in a particular dialect without;
1. Informing them that you want to use a dialect (referencing)
2. Using the appropriate diacritics (as this will guide your readers). How do you want your readers to understand when you keep jumping from one dialect to another? Do you think it is everyone who has the time to be replying you even here on nairaland? Baba, learn the basics

One would be doing code mixing and code switching according to his own understanding and not for the purpose of passing information across. I will easily start a sentence in Èkìtì dialect, move to Ìjẹ̀bú dialect and end it with Ọ̀wọ̀ dialect grin
Uncle Olu317 please learn the basics

Olu317:

Paradventure you think I am ignorant of this, then consider elementary rhyme to understanding vowel sound: bá,bé,etc..So, if you think like ignorant then,I can not be of a help.

You're the ignorant one here Ẹ̀gbọ́n, you are.
Olu317:

Infact, Ba wa means: exactly, so it is, etc, which is a sample of statemnt used by Egbas . Yet, this statement is not captured in Yoruba dictionary. May be I am wrong? Kindly enlighten us.

Báa wà means exactly, certainly etc. yes you're right about that but you will be wrong if you are writing something to the general public and you decide to write in a particular dialect without;
Olu317:

Lastly, I am not using defense mechanism but to correct your impression on Yoruba diacritics which need further review to meet up with the reality of the speaker: ritshe/ritse is same risha. and Ashe is same as Ishe.
I don't know what you mean by this. What do you think needed review? Is the that the diacritics that needed review, if yes then is this how to review it? If something needed review is it that you'll just decide on your own and turn everything upside down? OK, based on what sir? Arghhhhhhhhhhhh! Olu317 you're really off haba! What is all these báyìí?
Please, GO BACK TO SCHOOL AND LEARN THE BASICS
