My name is John Iwuozor, a 20-year-old graduate of mathematics and tech content writer.

I am about to share with you my story of how I moved from earning 20k monthly as a factory worker to earning close to 500k all within three months this year. It's an interesting story which lots of people find inspiring and motivating including me

During my stay at home, I tried to make myself useful by learning web development, participating in a data science internship and writing about chess. This period was not fun at all. I was totally broke to the point that I depended on my parents and siblings for money for data subscription. Some days, I would just cry alone in my room and beg God to give me a job.

And God heard me, How? Just follow me. My big bro in a bid to help my situation purchased a course for me to learn freelancing skills and start making money on the internet.

December, January gat me reading and learning skills in preparation for Upwork. In February, I went for it!

Immediately started getting gigs on Upwork and earning in dollars. My biggest gig was writing a 1,500 word article for $300....yeah, you heard me right....that's like 120k for one article! My parents now see me as a responsible child..lol.

As at now, I have made over $1k from Upwork and I now coach and help people in navigating the platform and getting jobs.

You may ask "Why the story?", the thing is that it pains me when I see lots of talented people complaining and getting underpaid in their jobs when they can be earning much more online.

The truth is that digital skills pay much more than your normal 9-5. Did I even tell you of the freedom you have as a freelancer, you can literally be working on your bed for two days and earn someone else monthly salary.

Skills like copywriting, graphic design, web development, virtual assistants, coding, social media management e.t.c can give you that financial freedom you are seeking. All you need to do is to offer these services on Upwork and get paid in mad $$$.

Freelancing is the new gold and it's here to stay.

Some of the reasons why people fail to get gigs on Upwork is because they don't have optimized profiles and can't come up with engaging proposals.

Your profile says a lot. When I talk about the profile, I mean your Bio, Portfolio, Skills and Experiences. Clients watch out for these stuff a lot.

Another important thing is your proposals.

Most of the times, your proposal determine whether you get the job or not. A well-written proposal would always attract further response from the client. Most people err in this category because they write proposals like formal letters.

Most of the times, the client is not interested in your "diligence to work and dedication", they want to know whether you can deliver the job. A good proposal would answer the need of the client.

It's essential you possess the necessary skills else you would just be wasting your time looking for a gig on Upwork.

I get lots of messages from people who want to start earning online. The problem is that they have no good skills to offer. That's why even if you have 5 upwork accounts, it would be likely impossible to get one good gig because of bad bios, unclear headlines and empty portfolios.

Freelancing is not a get-rich quick scheme. You need to work hard to make your money.

A lot of things are undergoing digital transformation.

This pandemic has shown that remote work is highly possible and the truth is that we are going to be seeing a huge increase in freelance work in the next few years.

Skills like copywriting, data science & analytics, digital/affliate marketing, coding, graphic designing would all be in high demand.

The question is "which one have you learnt?"

Or are you still depending on his country for a good job?

Learning and mastering a high paying skill is enough. Freelancing can guarantee that "soft life" and financial freedom you have been seeking.
