At least five soldiers are said to have been shot dead along Wetheral Road Owerri in Imo State as unknown gunmen attacked the area.

The incident happened in the late hours of Friday.

This is coming few days before the May 30th seat-at-home order given by the leader of Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, in commemoration of the Biafra Day.

According to an eyewitness, the bandits took the soldiers unaware and opened fire on them, killing five at a spot.

“Right now, five soldiers have been shot dead. Everyone is on the run. Wetheral Road, Nazi/Aba road, Government House Roundabout and all the link roads have been shut down.

“I personally saw the soldiers evacuating the corpses in a Hilux vehicle, there were five.

“The bandits have already taken off and shot sporadically in the air to scare people away.”
The Imo State Police Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana’s number was not reachable as at the time of filing this report.

When will Ohaneze Ndigbo converge to condemn this terrorists?

They won't hesitate to criticise on lopsided appointments that only favours the few among them Ndigbos but would keep mute when state infrastructures are being destroyed.

Bad time to be a soldier or police. You can never win a guerrilla warfare not even almighty US(US vs Vietnam, Russia vs Afghanistan, ). ' The worst enemy is the unknown enemy, you can never know when, how and where it will strike.

Most reason sensible countries don't play with their citizens, but Nigeria chose to fight her citizens.

For those quoting me, let me give you a bit of history, during the war BTW USA vs Vietnam Americans with their air might deploy a magnitude of bombardment, TNT equal only to what was use by all the warring forces in 2nd world war on Vietnam and never won. Simply explain: the amount of bombs used by US on Vietnam is more than all the bombs used in the 2nd world war by both Germany, Russia,UK and USA. With all this they never won a guerrilla warfare with Vietnam. The funniest no be their own country ooo. Read about IRA too

Soldiers killed seven at River state, Unknown gunmen killed five soldiers,let's allow peace to reign,as for the soldier,why not go home,don't die for Nigeria.

the imposition of Hope Uzodinma against mathematical and legal rules helped in fanning this unrest in imo state.
Reversing that ignoble judgement will be a step in the right direction.
