With this few point of mine, I hope I have been able to confuse you and not convince you on what to choose

A food shop will feed you daily thus saving you money and if you are lucky to have staff who don't steal then you can make serious money from the food shop. photography on the other hand need not be dropped but it can still remain your hobby. Food shop is more certain than photography. case in point during Covid lockdowns the world over, only food shops and food sellers were allowed to remain open. That says a lot.
Re: Advice For A Friend... by Nobody: 11:48pm On Jun 03, 2021
If u don't have the patience and passion, don't go into photography. Covid put most photographers to a halt last year and some are still recovering, do the food business because people must EAT.

My sister, follow whatever is your passion because even if you make less money in photography, you'll be happy. Believe it or not, even if you make more money in the proposed food stuff business but you'll always feel like missing something if you're really passionate about photography.

There was a time I had a lot of money but I wasn't happy. Had 4 cars but I would leave them and just trek instead and everybody would be asking me "where is your car?" Nobody knew that life didn't just make sense to me anymore at that point. What I was rather interested, though, was to know why the African continent is underdeveloped and why we Africans are in the way and condition we're today. The answer to that question was all that mattered to me. I was so much lost in thought about that question up to the point of thinking myself to comma. The day I discovered the answer to that question in 2012 and as soon as I discovered it, I became instantly happy again till the point of running mad out of happiness. Even as I have less money now but my happiness has been restored.

Of course, I am assuming you'll choose happiness over money. Ultimately, it's your choice really.

Hope this helps someone out there.

Hello madam! It's a good thing to have passion for photography as some of us were already into it before the passion came in. Right off the bat, I can confidently tell you that, there is money in photography. Big money. But, in photography, if you want to make money, you have to spend money. Good photography training is expensive, gears are getting more expensive, etc. Also, if you are looking for quick money, (except you are already an expert) I'll recommend you do the food business. It will take time for you to grow to be able to make money. Do you know some photographers charge over a million naira per wedding? It's that lucrative. Go on Instagram and check out gazmadu and ty Bello. They are both women, they are married with kids, and they are killing it. So, please, follow your heart and do what makes you happy. But, be ready to make the sacrifices. Peace!!

I'm looking for people with like minds to connect with, with what you have written, I can see we have similar interest, though mine is in putting a solution in African youths underdevelopment. I have already sorted what the problem is. If you don't mind, can we connect?

Yet people argue when we say marriage can be limiting to women.
Would y’all be saying this to her husband?

Bola146:
cool Photography is a good work but it requires much time and effort, I would not advise a woman to go deeply into it unless your husband is understanding man that knows what it's takes. You will have to travel, be in the studio almost all the day, etc. I'll just advise you to go for foodstuffs business, you will have enough time for yourself and the family. Good luck

Prettyclown:

Sis, it foodstuff business
At least, u will av enough time for yourself and family and trust me, considering the country's economic nah food business nah im pay pass

You get husband and child... How do you intend to cope with your family responsibilities when you know that photography is not a stationary thing to do.

I'll advised you give up that dream of becoming a photographer

Good to know.
Of course, you can always reach out even here on Nairaland. I can always share knowledge about what I've learned about the real cause of our underdevelopment. By the way, I'll be interested in your social media service sometime in near future.

When last did you pay for photos and how often, when last did you pay for food and how often? On a serious note do your feasibility study well and follow what pays you and you can build a future with.

Pursue your dream, dont let anybody kill your dream, not even marriage, photography pays more and it will also make you more exposed, unlike a local food stuffs seller, dont settle for less simply because you are married, chase your dreams and someday you will be an established photographer with the likes of TY BELLO who is happily married to, trust me your husband will understand and support you, if he dont, jejely pack your bag and move, marriage non be do or die

Can’t the husband take care of himself?
How old will Nigerian men before they learn to take care of themselves?

It’s not ideal, but a nanny (even a relative) can help with childcare...
But a wife is a (ideally equal) COMPANION to a husband, not his caregiver!

Exactly! If he’s not supportive, then she married the ‘wrong’ husband...
Your partner should be supporting you and aiding your endeavors and happiness!

there are lots of responsibilities attached to marriage which apply to both men and women.
it would have been better if she's in that line before marriage.
There are cases where people give up their dreams because of marriage... not trying to subject the woman as a mere caregiver as you insinuated.
