Yes its a small percentage of their AUM but 500 billion is huge in a market of only 20tn. I understand that stanbic is the biggest by fair so other managers will have far smaller amounts, but the total investment in equities by pension funds is somewhere between 1-2 trillion naira, not including insurance companies. I think any percentage change in their allocation to equities will probably be felt by the market

I stand to be corrected it is not up to N1 Trillion
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by emmanuelewumi(m): 6:41am On Jun 08, 2021
According to PENCOM monthly report published by Thisday Newspaper in March 2021.

Total pension fund was N12.3 Trillion.

N8.1 Trillion invested in FG bonds

N836 billion invested in corporate bonds

N1.65 Trillion invested in Treasury Bills

N162 billion invested in Mutual Funds.

They are left with N1.5 Trillion invested in ( stockmarket, real estate, private equity Investments and other unquoted Investments)

I think NAICOM needs to inform us about the asset allocations of Insurance companies.

Ah I misunderstood your screenshot, I thought it was for just StanbicIBTC pensions. Didn't see it said the total for all pension funds was N500bn. My apologies.

Money Market Funds have a uniform price of either N1.00 or N100 per unit.

Your capital is guaranteed, but your interests fluctuate depending on the assets in the portfolio. But at the end of the year you should be able to have an idea of the average interest for the year.

Your interests are calculated daily and it shows in your statement.

You are expected to leave your investment for 30 days before you sell, if you sell before the 30th day. You will lose 20% of the interest earned in the last 30 days. That is your penalty.

Money Market Funds invest in Treasury Bills, Bank Deposits, commercial papers and other short term instruments.

Fixed Income Funds invest in FG bonds, State bonds, Corporate bonds and money market instruments.
They don't have a fixed price, they use the Net Asset Value to determine the price of each unit. The prices are updated every day the fixed income fund of United Capital is about N1.95, while that of FBN Quest Asset Management is about N1800.

Your capital is not guaranteed in a Fixed Income Fund, that is why you are expected to leave your investment for 90 days. If you sell your Fixed Income Fund Investment less than 90 days of the purchase you will lose 20% of your capital appreciation.

2018 was a good year for fixed income fund managers some funds earned between 28% to 40%..

I hope this answers your question, you can mention me on the Mutual Fund thread for more

Good day everyone,
Please I have an issue which I don't know how to go about it. I would be happy if someone can out me through please.

I have an account with a Stock broker, now I needed to sell some of my shares, they told me CSCS is yet to verify my BVN. I have been on this for over a month. I was told that CSCS is yet to reply to their reminder.
I have called CSCS, they told me to get in touch with my Stockbroker.

Please, what else can I do?

Consolidation ongoing

Okay. Thanks sir
Erm...do you have a guesstimate/speculation as to what’s likely to happen afterwards

The only similar info I got from guyzs was to stay away from Access in particular and that it seems a large degree of the funds leaving GTB is foreign

Again not my opinion undecided

In 2013 exchange rate was N160 per USD.
N10m Naira was equivalent of $62500.

Today exchange rate at N500 makes $62500 equivalent to N31250000.

In 2013 someone that invested N10m Naira in USD at N160 today the investment is worth N31250000.

That's over 150% profit.
