One of the greatest way to reach into the power in the word of God is when we acknowledge his ultimate authority in the utmost sense of humility. We must acknowledge his power over all things in the world and the supremacy of his will too.

The Roman Centurion (Matthew 8:8-9) gives us a wonderful example of this virtuous act of faith and humility.

When faced with unpleasant situations, fear seems to be a reflex. We become agitated by the perceived unpleasantness that may follow and our faith becomes almost crippled by our doubt.

Build your faith on the word of God. "By his stripes we are healed"! God will always "make a way of escape for you...". So why not cast all your cares on him dear friend!

The story of Abraham's test of faith to sacrifice Isaac brings us to a very vital attribute of Abraham's faith. When Isaac asked him about the lamb that was to be used for the sacrifice; Abraham answered in faith "The Lord will provide"!

Do you trust and believe also that God will provide a lamb for you? Do you believe that God can provide a way of escape for you?

And Esther said...."If I perish, I perish"; This was her statement of faith as she braved the consequences of facing the King in an effort to save her people from the evil plans of Haman". She and her people all prayed for God's favour and indeed the power of God was made manifest that she was favoured!

What place of authority has God put you today, that you can use to redeem people that have been marked for destruction? Are you still holding back in fear or will you push forward in the trust in God to favour you!

Though he lost all his material wealth; but yet he never gave up his faith (spiritual wealth and abundance)! What a testimony!

The unwavering declaration of faith by Job remains one of the most inspiring stories of faithfulness in the Bible. Job maintained his stance in God, never letting himself become carried away by the hard evidence of his suffering!

He trusted God and was not afraid to die! He was confident that even if his flesh may perish; yet God will stand for him! What a faith!

Subtopic: Obey God rather than Men

The statement in Acts 5:29, was made in the context of the persecution of the early Church. The Highest authority of the Jews had forbidden the Apostles from preaching in the name of Jesus because they felt the content of the Apostles' message would be a threat to their authority.

Even today, many true Christians are facing persecution from religious authorities and hostile communities, but we have one resolve - "It is better that we obey God rather than men".
