O yes. Maybe they should allow hand-checking at a much severe level at least in the playoffs. cheesy. They already allow them do it to Curry anyway, so why not. We are looking at an era when no matter how star-studded you are may not be able to sweep the worst teams. They may just catch fire from 3 in one of those 5 games.

@nairamarley abi Na nairamaniac, you have proven to me that the pinnacle of your cognitive intelligence can’t lace the sole of my presumed stupidity. Rather than ask questions or read about the positions of people, you jumped on my mention like an emotionally traumatized Bum all day..

It may have taken the entire day but I am grateful to @benji93 for going through the pains of educating you and helping you finally understand some of your construed thoughts. Like he said “ read and learn”.. Rather than being emotional about something you have 0 understanding about, ask questions, research positions before jumping into mentions. Just when I thought I had encountered the most emotional and effeminate member of the Bum squad, this one pops his head out. In the words of the great John Herik Clarke “I only debate my equals, the rest I teach”.

I try very hard to keep my debates and conversations on this forum very civil and respectable because we never know who is behind the other screen. I will resist the temptation to reel in the gutters of mediocrity with you. I have engaged the best heads of the Bum squad on this thread on numerous topics including minds like @Weissvonner and his numerous handles…

This thread is big enough, I respectfully ask that you miss my mentions going forward if you can’t keep your rabid emotional tantrums in check!

Udo!

Rollweed abi naaa roland. U are the one acting quite hysterical here.

Let's not deviate from how this this SPECIFICALLY STARTED.

Joshboo held u accountable for always denigrating lebron by calling him Lefraud and Lebum.

Rather than benji to defend u by specifically sticking to that same accusation of denigration even after I quoted you, he rather DEVIATED.

His first line of response and defense was to twist it all to he Lebron not meriting THE GOAT STATUS.

Whoever talked about the GOAT STATUS HERE.

Give you an example;
Someone comes to your house to insult denigrate your dad by calling him FRAUDAD OR DADFRAUD, then u or someone comes out to ask *why do you call my dad such names*. Then the accused says "IT has always been about your dad thinking he is the Greatest of All Time's Father".

That's a twist of aguement. Cos neither me, nor joshboo accused benji of him not worshing Lebron as the Goat.

What he said was that "it's getting too much and it's becoming childish".

Then he went further to defend you by saying "ROLAND17 doesn't even use the term THAT MUCH".
Which was indeed a VERY BIG GIGANTIC LIE, cos for the past 10pages alone, each time you refered to Lebron you called him LEBUM or LEFRAUD.
And that occured at least 10 times in the last 10pages.

So if that is not THAT MUCH, I wonder what's THAT MUCH would actually mean?

Now u accuse me of not READING AND LEARNING.
That's not true. I learn truth not lies.

I applaud realness and criticize falsehood.

If only BENJI had been honest with his response to Joshboo's insinuation, I would have been a good and listening student.

He tried to be smart by half by saying the following in all his defence when asked why the disrespect towards Lebron(and in extension to his fans).
Cos when you troll a star, hope you know you also troll his supporters and Fans;
1. Roland doesn't use it THAT MUCH.
2. It has always been about him being the Goat status.
3. 6-3 would never make him the goat.

Did joshboo or I(nairamaley) angry say anything about him being a goat in our statements?

Come let's be honest; the major(number 1) reason the Leflop or Lebum is being said here and everywhere is simply becos he has lost in more finals than he did.
Not cos he flops frequently when being fowled.

Pls incase you want to indignify or dignify me with a reply, first be man enough to face your defender(benji) by asking him why he lied that you (ROLAND419 grin) doesn't use the term THAT MUCH.

when you do that, we can both talk.
They say he who comes for equity much come with clean hands.

Let's start from there.

I have always been your fan here.
But that doesn't mean you wdnt stomach it when I critisize u.

U have no problems when I(we) give u props here.
But u become a rabid aggressive dog when I(we) critisize u.

You are being double standard man.

Last las, u say THANX TO BENJI FOR TELLING ME TO READ AND LEARN.

But you are not criticizing the same wonderful teacher for not sticking directly to the very rootcause/genesis of joshboo's criticism.

Abi you want me(us) to only READ AND LEARN what ever part of your biography that someone supports you.
But we should become dull to anypart of that your same biography that even your own co-writer cudnt defend you well enough.

Last bullet: you are not the founder of nairaland.
Last I checked it belongs to seun osewa.
I wonder how you threaten or advice me to stay off your mentions. I can quote&unquote you.

WORST YOU CAN DO IS USE VERY VERY BIG QUEENS ENGLISH as response.
Hope u know ELOQUENCE ISNT INTELLIGENCE. Everyone here has outaged that physcological-oppression.

U NEED to hit the nail on the head bro.
Make your own point and move on.

Don't try to lay on the shoulder's of anyone that support you.
That's cowardly.

My question and that of joshboo still stands(albeit politely this time) :
Why do you ALWAYS FREQUENTLY DENIGRATE LEBRON by calling him LEBUM or LEFRAUD?

The above question is where u should start from. Not commencing from middle of the aguements between I and Benji.

If you feel we(joshboo and I) are too small or not worthy of your response.
Then you should also be TOO BIG to jump from the middle of the journey to express yourself.

You tell us we are too small then also tell us you are too big, yet u cowardly run away from what we are holding you accountable for.

Ogaaa come start from begining of the journey or sit alone on your fvcking HIGH HORSE.

Hand checking was only effective against wing players who used post up moves. If you put a Steph or Dame in the 80s with their current skill sets, how do you hand check them? They do not post up at all.

U are not completely right here. It wasn't exclusively effectly against wingplayers who used postup moves.

I would paste a link to a video on when kenny explained how handchecking affected guards which they were very far off the arc.

Focus from the 1min:20seconds part of the timeline.

it was effective against wingplayers. But it helped guards alot when they were on the dribble.
The hand checking stifled guards from being able to change directlion while on the dribble or going for jumpshots from the very bounce (crossovers)

Curry is an exception to that level of talent but everyone now thinks they can just jack 3’s immediately they cross their back court. Teams are no longer going through their offensive progressions and sometimes, I can’t even separate the style of play of two teams because they are all spamming the rim with brick 3’s.
I love the idea of reintroducing the hand check but I doubt Silva will consider that. He is a more progressively aligned president who loves to sell the offensive product of the league.
I would say re-expanding the perimeter arc even though it may not eliminate the deep threes from more efficient players like Curry/ Harden/ Dame/ Trae.. it would reduce the spamming.. reward perimeter defending by not calling these flopping 3 shooters who jump into defenders. Eliminate that corner 3 entirely.. create a line in the corner that is the limit for a 3 point shot.. punish those who stop fast breaks..

But from what i just watched, if u reintroduce hand checking in this era it will just make PnR players much more effective, because keeping that hand out gives the guy setting the pick a bigger target and to a large extent makes it harder for the defender to slip around the pick.
The fact is that basketball tactics just like most other things have evolved tremendously. The game is better now because the skill level of the players are just off the charts these day in comparism to say the 80s or 90s. From ball handling to shooting the overall level is just better

I wonder if this is just because the game has been re-engineered to be a more marketable product. There is no way a Ja Morant could shine the way he did in playoffs versus the old Jazz teams with Stockton, Malone etc. Then you think of the forwards who could knock down the midrange jumpshot as well as post in past eras - Garnett, Duncan, Nowitzki (who had to toughen up) among a long list of bigs. Check out the old Celtics and Lakers teams, jumpshot was a given. Given the type of space Lebron gets today, Duncan, Garnett will hit a good clip at the 3pt line as well.

Then take a look at the Hardaways, Iverson etc. The ball handling even in the paint vs ruffians like Alonzo Mourning, Ewing, even Shaq. Who can handle the ball well in this era against that kind of pressure. Doncic? Nah

To me, guys like Durant, Curry, Lebron will get theirs in any era. But Doncic, Morant, Trae? Not nearly as much imo. Doncic hasnt even had to change his Euro game, like Nowitzki did. Clippers let the guy play like he is in the gym all alone. Same for Lakers vs Booker!!

If a guy like Rod strickland can average a double double for years with no jumper then Doncic, Trae and Ja will be just fine in that era.
Be that as it may the elite players will all be elite in any era, the issue is with the role players and i will submit that it is fact that the role players now are more athletic, and more specialised than they ever were. Think about it, every time i watch that MJ shot against cleveland i keep thinking who in Gods name is Craig Ehlo that he was left to guard MJ 1v1 in that situation. A player like that is probably the 9th or 10th player in the rotation these days not part of the starting 5 in the last few seconds of a close out game

MJ is greatest player, but in the 80s [b]defense were very porous,/b] sometimes you watch games and you do not even understand what they were doing. As for double teams i beg to differ apart from bad boys pistons most teams left him 1v1. Check all of his great shots he never got double teamed because of the illegal defense rules

So u can now understand why I disagrees with you when u initially said defence was more porous in the 80's.

HAND CHECKING made it naturally difficult for guards to score.
Re: The NBA Begins by Khanben: 12:50am On Jun 11, 2021
What do you guys think if the Sixers do not win it all this year of a Simmons for Dame swap. The Sixers get more shooting and spacing around Embid + a closer and the Blazers get a reset to build around point-forward Simmons?

Here everything has evolved and gotten better.

The only part that died is the beauty and physicallity of bigmen, especially in the paint.

I miss those legworks, spins and postups from the era of David Robinson, Ewing, Shaq, Kareem and Olajuwan.

But in totallity, it's much much better now cos everyone prefers offence than defense

80s was all about 1v1 defense. The defensive schemes were for a better word primitive. These days team defense is more the norm.

O my goodness, Strickland had a jumper, handles, and could put english on the ball!! He would average 30 in this era - guy was like a thug version of Kyrie. You could go to war on and off the court with that cat, and thats my point. Sweet video to jog your memories

But you cant prefer offense to the point where defense is frowned upon. Which is why we have meaningless 120pt games now. A hard fought, NBA game should reach 90pts per team, tops. Right now some games are just shooting drills. Whats the point - kuku eliminate defense and lets reach 200pts per team

The game is all about adjustments and the Nets look like they have made some adjustments. The Bucks have to be better than just playing Giannis on ISO.

Nash employing the P&R with a bigger guard in Bruce Brown and it has been effective.

The Bucks have to get Holiday going at some point.. They have done a good job at disrupting the Slimreaper’s rhythm offensively but are struggling to stop the small guard P&R.

Bruh Atalanta Hawks fans said the exact same thing when He was their coach but I put it down to them being salty. Then came the raptors series 2 years ago where they lost 4 games in a row. Watch that series again and you'll find this Guy made no adjustments from game 3 all through to game 6. His game plan was simple, if Plan A fails to work, try and try again.

This team is badly in need to fresh ideas. Insanity they say is doing the same thing over and over again. That's where we are at with Budenholzer.
