Market: Generally dull this early hours......with retail traders still cherry-picking very low volumes across board......
Let's see if the deep pockets will arrive and take centre stage later......

That resistance in Transcorp since last week is tempting

Na crypto?...
Coupled with the policy, economic and mainly security uncertainties associated with 2023 election yr (uncertainties which will start becoming very obvious from next yr).

My bother buying in tranches is ok..but some very heavy retail value investors are busy making money in fixed income securities while they sit tight for the pickings when the FPIs will begin to react and offload...just a matter of time..b/w 2022/2023.

We have to bear in mind that these uncertainties have consequencies

If they are in fixed income, then their interest is below inflation. I mean I know the value is in hundreds of millions of naira but it’s still kind of a loss in value ultimately

So far no bond or fix investment is making any returns of 18%. Heaven only knows what the devaluation will do to inflation by year’s end undecided

Fixed Income trading is another field entirety. The platform for the trading of fixed income is far more active and liquid than NSE

Which I just started learning.

Bonds of N100 with a coupon of N15, went to as high as N180 to give a coupon of N15 and yield of 8.3% between 2019 and 2020. Due to fall in interest rates, a fall out of CBN policy

Imagine what a balanced fund that invests in both equities and fixed income would have achieved.

Selling such bonds at N180 to buy Zenith at N15 during the lockdown to get a dividend yield of 20%. Which some fund managers actually did

Some balanced funds achieved 40% last year

CBN should allow Unity Bank to Rest in Peace. Instead of wasting tax payers money on fruitless ventures like the nationalisation of Unity Bank.

Who is the investor that will buy a bank with a negative shareholders fund of about N250 billion

The CBN actions shows how powerful cabals can be where professionalism and right thinking approach to economic issues are the least considered options in decision making.

Get a job, if you have savings you can start a business or get a marketable skill that will give you a steady weekly or monthly income after that you can think of Investment.

Sorry about your job loss and God will make a way for you.

The following will happen to every worker, Retirement, Retrenchment or Resignation, reason why it is important to have Investments and an emergency reserve in a money market funds that can take care of our expenses for between 3 months to 12 months depending on the ease of getting another job or regularity of the income from the job especially for self employed people like contractors, businessmen, landlords and other people with unstable cash flow

Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Kereokwu(f): 11:03am On Jun 11, 2021
Good money sir, for the Fixed money fund(FBN quest calls theirs bond fund) if I decide to withdraw after 6(181 days)months will I loose anything(capital or interest)?

emmanuelewumi:

Money Market Funds have a uniform price of either N1.00 or N100 per unit.

Your capital is guaranteed, but your interests fluctuate depending on the assets in the portfolio. But at the end of the year you should be able to have an idea of the average interest for the year.

Your interests are calculated daily and it shows in your statement.

You are expected to leave your investment for 30 days before you sell, if you sell before the 30th day. You will lose 20% of the interest earned in the last 30 days. That is your penalty.

Money Market Funds invest in Treasury Bills, Bank Deposits, commercial papers and other short term instruments.

Fixed Income Funds invest in FG bonds, State bonds, Corporate bonds and money market instruments.
They don't have a fixed price, they use the Net Asset Value to determine the price of each unit. The prices are updated every day the fixed income fund of United Capital is about N1.95, while that of FBN Quest Asset Management is about N1800.

Your capital is not guaranteed in a Fixed Income Fund, that is why you are expected to leave your investment for 90 days. If you sell your Fixed Income Fund Investment less than 90 days of the purchase you will lose 20% of your capital appreciation.

2018 was a good year for fixed income fund managers some funds earned between 28% to 40%..

I hope this answers your question, you can mention me on the Mutual Fund thread for more
