Transport minister Rotimi Amaechi says the extension of the Abuja-Kaduna rail line to Kano wll begin this June.

He disposed this during the official commissioning of the facility on Thursday in Lagos.

“We have about three or four projects. This month, we will start Kano-Kaduna and then we will also start Port Harcourt to Maiduguri which also is CCECC and then Kano-Maradi” he said.

Mr. Amaechi also called for the maximum utilisation of the commissioned Lagos-Ibadan rail facility.

“The celebration is not enough, it is the impact that works have on the economy; the goods and services, the personnel it would have to move in record time” he said.

He also decried the delay in the loan facility to complete the Ibadan-Kaduna rail line.

“While we are celebrating that, we are not happy that up till now the China Exim Bank is yet to approve the loan for Ibadan to Kano because we need to start that and complete it quickly because that is my fear” he said.

“We are grateful that the Chinese government through the China Exim bank was able to give us the loan at a concessionary rate to construct from the seaport down to Ibadan. We hope that we get money to be able to construct from Ibadan to Kano so that we can complete the track and make sure that business takes place” he noted further.

He noted that: “We got money from China Exim Bank, we paid counterpart funding. We did put pressure on CCECC and delivered on time. In terms of quality, what we have is of good” he assured.

You wish. These loans are tied to Infrastructure. The Chinese do not release cash. Once the worth of the project is settled and counterpart funding paid, they bring in their engineers and deliver the project. Chinese concessionary loans are the best because they are embezzlement-proof.

Nigeria hires a consultant (an Italian firm in this case) to determine that the projects are delivered according to European standards and that's it. Chinese loans also have the least interest rate and higher moratorium (grace period before Nigeria starts paying up). It's no wonder the West are threatened by the Chinese in Africa and are sponsoring a lot of propaganda against them. China is the best thing to have happened to Africa.

By the time Buhari leave office the coming administration in Nigeria will be thinking of other sectors to invest money on.

NOT TRAINS, RAILWAYS and all that investment that the chinese use to hit goldmine in Nigeria.

Primarily, the northern political elites invested in railway line because they want to use it to bring down their people to the south.

In less than 18 months this useless and wicked, ethnic and religious bigoted administration of the most clueless president of the most populous black country in the world will hand over power, yet we haven't seen even one railway project in the South South and South East. The bald headed talkative minister, Amaechi is doing the wishes of his Aboki masters.
Another project to Maradi, Niger Republic and we here in Port Harcourt where the oil is coming out from to service all this loans haven't even seen one stone or railway iron.

When you're done better remain in Abuja because we Ikwerres are waiting for you.
