I am a NOUN graduate and I do not regret studying there. The 4 years will give you ample space and time to develop yourself professionally, take certification courses and manage your life better. Going for a regular bachelor's will take ur time and leave you like a sheep after NYSC but definitely offers better school life and confident mindset (till you enter the labour market and know whats up).

I studied there, got a foreign scholarship cos I had a good CGPA and also did a professional course. This year alone, I applied and got admission in LASU and Unilag (after passing the entrance exams) for full-time and part time master's respectively. Now I am the one to choose where to further... Don't let anyone tell you NOUN is frowned upon, it's all about what u can do.

Noun is a great and good institution, but you just have to be serious with your studies, and you also need to have good grades in your test and exam, that will surely help you. The most important thing is not to allow anyone to discourage you, just be determined and stay focused. I took this step few years ago and i never regret, i pray you will also excel.......... But you got the definitions wrong. Open learning has nothing to do with study centres. It's about the relaxed entry requirements..hence it's openness to all.

Coming from someone who failed Unilag post utme. It's a pity ELDS list did not favour you.

It's not good for lazy youth that dont like reading... only sorting. But I heard the textbooks are standard and easy to follow. Their professors too.

I remember one of my friends whom I encouraged to attend the school. he graduated last year and was full of joy. Me too, because I know the guy. If he was attending any of our useless universities, he will just sort his way through. But then, he had to struggle to read and pass with a 2:2. I'm proud of him.

And his enquiry is not so much about the course but about the academic qualities of NOUN and the acceptability of their certificates.I told my niece the same truth. She spurned it as you did, and then went to UI for her Computer Science degree.But now after her service she is back in the class. struggling to study Java this Java that.When I applied for a teaching job so many years back at Federal Polytechnic , Ilaro, they didn't even ask for my degree certificate , but formy MSCE, which was the in-thing then. and that was even teaching.Your degree is to build a career, but professional qualifications give
you thee big bucks.Mind you I hold a BSc degree in Computer Sciences from Unilag.

Toto Game lol... With this ur username, you can't be taken seriously. Anyways, I did one of my bachelor's degree with NOUN and was even able to bag a foreign scholarship with it. This year, I got 2 master's degree offers with my NOUN degree (at LASU and UNILAG).

Your education is what you make of it. There are tons of UK graduates working in restaurants and many Nigerian polytechnic graduates doing white collar jobs in top level establishment! Life has gone beyond those school names era !

Thanks for the facts bro. Most times, people only say negative things about the institution, whereas so many people have achieved a lot with their qualification. NOUN has produced so many scholars who are doing well in business and academia and I am one of them.

I studied in NOUN. If you want to study in NOUN you should be prepared to read very well and be ready to spend a lot, because their fees is not cheap.

In NOUN the only access you have to your lecturer is phone. What they will give you is your course materials.
Anything you don't understand you will have to hire a tutor to lecture you

On few occasions, a lecturer might send you link to receive lecture through zoom, but when the lecture starts you may be surprised that the lecturer will open his mouth and not close it for the next 20 minutes because of poor network

But the good thing is that their standards of education is very high, because you won't even see anyone to compromise.
Moreover, 100 and 200 level examination are computer base. You will write the exam with computer and see your scores immediately you submit. So, before you go for admission you should familiarize yourself with computer.

Finally, I also need to inform you that NOUN certificate is recognized in the US and UK, because, the school got accreditation from those countries

It's called Open University! You study on your own with tutorials and the supervision of lecturers. Exams are well monitored. No sorting, no cheating.
I know some people who have graduated from NOUN and are doing quite well. Their certificates are well recognized. Their Law graduates are now allowed to go to Law School. Going for Master's anywhere with their first degree certificate is easy for those who did well in their studies.

If I can advice you:
You won't even graduate in NOUN if u are lazy and can't study on your own. The Motto " Work and Learn " is even for the past, NOUN require full concentration and Time. No short cut in NOUN.Go for it and Don't be discourage. Thank me later

You can as well go study the course at a polytechnic and I bet you you won't regret it

If ụ want to succeed and make a career off computer science, ụ have to do stuff outside the school curriculum. Find out what's trending in the IT world, form an area of interest and pursue that beyond whatever is in ur study materials
