Why do Italians use mostly garlic instead of onion in their pastas? Especially since its flavour is so strong, unlike onion that is sweet...

I do watch her videos on YouTube.
I've seen some food vloggers with long nails (artificial) cooking online.
Truth is no good cook or chef cook with long nails and heavy makeup. It is against food safety rule. All through my stay in culinary school, I didn't see any female chef with heavy makeup or nails.
Especially the ones that use it to eat swallow.....Serious turn off.

The long nails...

Why do Italians use mostly garlic instead of onion in their pastas? Especially since its flavour is so strong, unlike onion that is sweet...

The sweetness of onions can easily change the taste of pasta(keep it simple). Most Italians pasta recipe calls for shellfish or sea fish which you don't use onions to cook except garlic... Though some few pasta recipe require onions.

●For the Garlic strong flavour:

When you add the garlic to the olive oil, you allow it to release its flavour for like one or two minutes without burning it, then take out the garlic from the pan before continue cooking, because you don't want the strong flavour to over power the meal...if you must live the garlic, take out the germ first(found inside the garlic)that is wer the strong flavour come from.

Unlike what you see on YouTube, we don't always live the garlic in the pan.

Viva l'Italia❤ Buongiorno.

The taking the garlic out of the pan makes much sense. Since the garlic can be quite much.
Thank you for the explanation.

When you ask any Italian that question, two things they gonna tell you

1..è tradizione, lascia così(is tradition, live it like that)

2.. Mia nonna mi ha insegnato così(my grandmother taught me like that)

Italians don't like it when you tweak their recipe cheesy

Yeah. They can be very sensitive about their recipes.
They say it's almost a treasonable offense to break spaghetti in the sight of an Italian, including rolling out pizza dough with a rolling pin. cheesy

You're very correct cheesy

While break the spaghetti, I guess those companies that produce spaghetti are not stupid for making spaghetti long.

Some chef do add oil in the pot while boiling the spaghetti.. like for real

Pizza should be like a round bowl to take in ingredients, so using rolling pin is wrong.

Very wrong to add oil to spaghetti while boiling, oil add to water always stay at the top, so serve no purpose. Always wait for your water to boil before you put in your spaghetti.

Make sure you don't over cook your spaghetti.. if the time on the sachet is 10 minutes, then cook yours like 7 or 8 minutes.

If you must add oil, add after you drain the spaghetti and toss, this prevent the spaghetti for sticking.. This process can make your spaghetti stay like two days in the refrigerator before use.

The thing is, we Nigerians have very low self esteem( I think it's caused by yrs of brainwashing and examples set by people on top that we look unto), so we are constantly trying to prove ourselves to ourselves. It is well.
