Op, you are making a good choice
Don't let the naysayers discourage you
However, you need to be self-motivated and ready to work with little or no supervision

CSTRR:

What is the tuition for Computer science/mathematics at NOUN?

It's a double honour course. It's expensive , NOUN tuition fees may be cheap but you will be billed for each course material. It's not like a conventional university, it's flexible in operation. But you have to be cash ready.
In Conclusion, NOUN is not cheap.

National Open University of Nigeria is the best institution in Nigeria.

You can quote me.

If you are ready for Study, noun is your best place.

If you want personal development, noun is your best place.

But if you want to short cut, noun is not a place for you.

If you want lecturers assisting you, don't go close to noun.

In all, you can't graduate from noun and remain unemployed.

You maybe under employed, but definately not unemployed.

Noun is the only institution in Nigeria without jobless graduates.

100% correct

If you are still young, don't even think of going to Noun to study because the school is more or less for working class that's wants to get the certificate

If you are still young, find another school to go , Not Noun

Open university has it flaws like conventional universities we have in Nigeria but it flexibility can't be compare.
What you must know
1. Zero tolerance to Exam malpractice
2. Learn and work
3. Graduate at your pace if you have the resources.
4. Read and do research on your own don't depend solely on course materials.
5. No NYSC, you will only be given NYSC Exclusion certificate which serve same purpose with NYSC discharge certificate.
6. NOUN certificate is acceptable
NOUN certificate is putting food on my table, gained fully employed by state government.

Noun that can frustrate students. I learnt it's difficult to get your results after graduation. Then you may have some missing scripts.

Noun was near our office in Lagos before it was moved to Abuja

The standard of education at the NOUN is very low

Their certificate is almost useless....
How did you know ?
Re: Losing My Mind Please Advise Me by Joysammy: 10:51pm On Jun 10, 2021
My brother pursue your dreams... Certificate is meaningless in this Fulani era, after all, the Mimi himself does not have certificate but it pays to have it and will be useful to you when Nigeria has a real President.

To study at NOUN is not totally easy, albeit, very interesting... NOUN affords people to study on their own, with the followings:

1. You will gain more experiences about your course of studies unlike in conventional school where some students no longer read but wait for area of concentration from the Lecturer.

2. You will be more acquanted with Computer test and usage.

3. To study at NOUN makes it easier for you to master correctly how to answer Canada entry questions.

4. NOUN tuition fees is relatively low compared to Conventioner University.

5. There is no where you cannot use your certificate to work. (I have a friend that has been seeking job but just finished his M.sc last year, and he's working with DPR now.

I wish you the best.

I am currently studying Math/Computer Science at Ibadan Study centre, after HND/NYSC of over 10 years. Reason for choosing tobgobfor degree is personal and I thanked God that I have been working with Federal Government before I joined NOUN.
The standard of teaching student especially in mathematical sciences is very bad, you will need to go extra mile before you can cope, never the less we are coping. There is hope that things would improve because of online facilitation recently introduced. I will rather advise you to go and study this course (or any) in a conventional university, where you can have direct contact with the lecturers . However, if you are working and you know you can cope with the challenge I have mentioned ,you can go ahead, afteral a dream of completing you programme as at when due is 99% sure.Afterall no Federal /State universities can give you this.
Above all, God will see you through

Toto Game lol... With this ur username, you can't be taken seriously. Anyways, I did one of my bachelor's degree with NOUN and was even able to bag a foreign scholarship with it. This year, I got 2 master's degree offers with my NOUN degree (at LASU and UNILAG).
Stop saying what u don't know.

Your education is what you make of it. There are tons of UK graduates working in restaurants and many Nigerian polytechnic graduates doing white collar jobs in top level establishment! Life has gone beyond those school names era !
God bless you... I did National Diploma Federal poly Nasarawa an graduated with a Distinction merit, Now in NOUN I am struggling, the materials are three times the normal course material and very indept, people from outside think all we do is to go get certificate but I tell you it's far from that; NOUN standard is better than at least 80% of other conventional school standard...Unless you taste NOUN and other school you'll always think it is an easy route

National open University is on your own oooo. that means you buy the text books and learn on your own. when it's exam time you go and write exam
Most of you guys just come online to talk trash of what you don't know.
In NOUN study manuals are given free and you don't buy any textbook as none is sold there. Infact, these manuals are paid for in the tuition and other fees such that you don't feel the impact in your pocket.
Any manual that is not available at the moment can be downloaded freely in their website.
Why young people dislike the place is because they don't have a place to "sort". NOUN is for serious minded people who are ready to achieve. You study on your own and at your own pace.
I'm pursuing a Masters degree program there presently and I'm really enjoying every bit of the school. I even sat for exams today.
Please go ahead with this choice and you won't regret it..

NOUN study materials is one of the most comprehensive materials more than even conversational universities in Nigeria. But you to to create time to study them because you have to study your study materials not just to pass exams. At noun you don't get to know your lectures so you are on your own. First Two years exams at noun is E-Based.so you Will be needing a laptop computer.

Yes....your presence is not needed in the school except during registration and examinations.
You don't really know how the school operates so I would advise you ask.

My candid advice: Go ahead and do it. I recommend NOUN to anyone who wishes to study and work at the same time, or anyone who wishes to do ICT related course. I am a product of NOUN. I read Computer Science BSc and MSc Information Technology all from NOUN. I am presently working with NAFDAC as a Senior Computer Analyst by day, and Software Developer by night.
Open University degree is recognised anyway in the world as I am planning to do my PhD in Canada. So please go ahead if you so wish to, as the degree is not consider inferior at all.
