This school was originally designed for lazy civil servants who want paper qualification without sound academic gains. I'm not sure I would encourage any young and ambitious person to go to that school. My thoughts though

It is not the school or the course that matters in Nigeria now, so long as you are good in whatever course you read and when put to test during job search, you proved it ,then you are good. When you are connected you will get any job, whether good or not in your feild of study

Firstly, no NYSC for you, secondly, when graduates are been called, you dare not raise your hand.

Forget all these people that are talking down on NOUN. It’s because we are used to suffering that’s why they are talking trash.
You know they don’t go on strike and their admission is per semester and once their academic calendar is out they stick to it religiously. So, a 4 years course in NOUN is 4 years and no extra year, unless you didn’t do what you are supposed to do.
NOUN looks easy from the outside until you enter.
Currently running masters with them and body dey tell me. The last time I read overnight for consecutive nights was when I was preparing for SSCE but NOUN has made me to revisit that old habit because I’m combining it with work.
Academically they are good. Lectures may not be as intense as it would be in a conventional University but you will always make up with tutorials which they organize as well.

Yes....your presence is not needed in the school except during registration and examinations.
You don't really know how the school operates so I would advise you ask.
ready to learn

I had to tell op the truth without tact.
Why did the op quit ? , because he can't cope with the competition required for those medical related courses. If you offered the OP a chance to study any medically related course without having to scale through the fierce competition I'm probably sure he would take it , he just wants the easy way out.
For how long is the op going to keep quitting ?
What happens when the computer science course gets too hard , will he quit too
what happens when his job gets challenging, will he quit too
Quitting is not going to help him he needs to go for what he wants and work hard for it
You're not being realistic.
It's not about quiting but not everyone will be able to make it to medical school.
We live in a country with few schools, and quite a few slots are even reserved for "runs".

Open University is really for those who can study and understand on their own, so if u'r not in that category kindly exit.

All the people I personally know that studied there said they just went to get the certificate cos they are not taught anything but buy this and that.

Why do you have to lie about what you don't know?
Who told you NOUN students are not taught anything? If this is true then I'll believe you meant to say NOUN is not a school, cos your so called friends attend the school to learn and of course they did
I'm a student of the school and I always laugh at critics
NOUN is not a school for lazy people
I love the school for it's learning system, you get the accurate results for your efforts
It's a hundred times better than most of these conventional schools

Very efficient, flexible and affordable. After registration, you have to download their material earlier to start reading because their material is comprehensive and bulky. Just be dedicated to your studies, you will not regret it.

It's not true at all. Most NOUN graduates are accademically sound because their study materials are comprehensive. You just need to read very well with dedication.

Currently doing MBA there. Its tough like hell!! Having to read through volumes of course materials under 2 months on your own, no facilitation!! You then write TMAs and exam. Its not easy at all!!

It's called Open University! You study on your own with tutorials and the supervision of lecturers. Exams are well monitored. No sorting, no cheating.
I know some people who have graduated from NOUN and are doing quite well. Their certificates are well recognized. Their Law graduates are now allowed to go to Law School. Going for Master's anywhere with their first degree certificate is easy for those who did well in their studies.
do u know anyone who read law and has gone to law school... It's important they State it here

Most of you guys just come online to talk trash of what you don't know.
In NOUN study manuals are given free and you don't buy any textbook as none is sold there. Infact, these manuals are paid for in the tuition and other fees such that you don't feel the impact in your pocket.
Any manual that is not available at the moment can be downloaded freely in their website.
Why young people dislike the place is because they don't have a place to "sort". NOUN is for serious minded people who are ready to achieve. You study on your own and at your own pace.
I'm pursuing a Masters degree program there presently and I'm really enjoying every bit of the school. I even sat for exams today.
Please go ahead with this choice and you won't regret it..
oga they pay for text books together with school fees but most times they don't get the textbook till after exams sef. that's why most of them go online to print it, in fact my oga back then who had a computer center was using noun students to make money, bcox he will download all their textbooks and photocopy, then they will come and pay and take it. most times the money for the photocopied materials is either higher than the amount they paid for that same textbook or almost the same. besides you mustn't abuse me b4 you prove your point. They pay for textbook but they don't usually get it till that semester ends and since it's study on your own method, you need textbook to study and that's why most of them that can't download and read, go to business center to make photocopy and you know how much photocopy is now. if you like do your PhD there wetin concern me. someone asked a question and I answered and you dey provoke, you sabi me b4 abi you dream about me for night??

My candid advice: Go ahead and do it. I recommend NOUN to anyone who wishes to study and work at the same time, or anyone who wishes to do ICT related course. I am a product of NOUN. I read Computer Science BSc and MSc Information Technology all from NOUN. I am presently working with NAFDAC as a Senior Computer Analyst by day, and Software Developer by night.
Open University degree is recognised anyway in the world as I am planning to do my PhD in Canada. So please go ahead if you so wish to, as the degree is not consider inferior at all.

I am a NOUN graduate and I do not regret studying there. The 4 years will give you ample space and time to develop yourself professionally, take certification courses and manage your life better. Going for a regular bachelor's will take ur time and leave you like a sheep after NYSC but definitely offers better school life and confident mindset (till you enter the labour market and know whats up).

I studied there, got a foreign scholarship cos I had a good CGPA and also did a professional course. This year alone, I applied and got admission in LASU and Unilag (after passing the entrance exams) for full-time and part time master's respectively. Now I am the one to choose where to further... Don't let anyone tell you NOUN is frowned upon, it's all about what u can do.

I will love you to guide me sir

Isn't that my point? The slots are very little and we have few schools relative to our population in Nigeria.
