I extracted two of my tooth last year in the space of two months .. When i extracted the first one i was thinking i could manage the second one but it got to a point .. I could not bear it was as if the pain wanted to kill me , i quickly went to remove it with the little money i have . Sadly i discovered two more cavity this yr..

A dentist trip can be nerve racking when you know you have to have a tooth extracted. But when a tooth is so damaged that it needs extraction, it poses a danger to your overall health. Abscesses can form that lead to septicemia due to bacteria entering the bloodstream. You should always have your teeth X-rayed before an extraction to see if there are other issue that need to be dealt with before the tooth is removed.
Infection

You can have a tooth infection for a long time before you know it. When the infection gets bad enough to put pressure on the gums and the roots of the teeth, you will start feeling pain. That means that the area around the roots is filled with a deep infection. When you go to the dentist complaining of tooth pain, it is important to have an X-ray made to see how far the infection has spread so it can be treated properly. The infection always has to be treated before the tooth can be extracted or it can lead to complications once the tooth is pulled.

Impaction

Sometimes an infected tooth can have other teeth impacted around it. Impacted teeth never make their way above the gum line and can put pressure on the roots of other teeth, which lead to infection. It is important to have X-rays before your extraction to make sure that there are not other teeth below the gum line that need to be removed. Some impacted teeth can be fused to the jaw or can be fused to the roots of the tooth that needs extraction. When impacted teeth are involved in an extraction, you will need dental surgery.

Perforation

Tooth roots can be much longer than you think. Some even grow so long that they reach into the sinus cavities. This is fine as long as the tooth is healthy, but when a tooth is infected, the infection can travel through the roots and into your sinuses. This is very dangerous because your sinuses are so close to your brain and infections can spread rapidly. Also, tooth root perforation means that you may need stitches to close the opening between your mouth and sinuses after extraction. This has to be done by an oral surgeon and is a good idea even if the tooth removed is not infected.

The dentist may need to take multiple x-rays to determine what needs to be done. They may also take more after the procedure to check that everything is healing properly

I started feeling tooth pain some days back and I decided to patronize road side herbal doctor!
Big mistake of my life. The man gave a black polythene bag and he said for saliva, next he brought out toothpicks and started jabbing the bad millard and the surrounding gums.
Before I knew it, I was bleeding from the mouth.
Then the terrible one
He proceeded to rub one kind liquid on a q tip cotton bud, the moment that thing touch my gum! I saw hell, heaven, havana, wahala and valhalla in the same second.
It was acid the bastard used to terminate the stuff eating my tooth.
Since then, (Tuesday) I been nursing myself back to recover from the acid burns, but the tooth ache has also gone.
I paid him 700, no tooth removal kankan

Couldn't ascertain the cost beacuse it was bank roll by HMO insurance, from my company.
Nevertheless, the extraction worth it. No remedy when cavity has invaded the dentin, pulp etc.
where is your location, perhaps one can narrow a clinic for you...

Stop reading online stuff and then giving out advise like an expert based on what you have read.

Nobody is talking about impacted teeth (that's if you even know what an impacted tooth is). An Xray must be done before extraction of an impacted tooth.

From the post, the OP didn't have an extraction for an impacted tooth. So an impacted tooth is not the topic of discussion.

For extraction of a tooth that is not impacted, not all cases require an xray. Cases where the tooth is mobile due to periodntal disease (especially in the elderly) may not require an xray. There are other cases where an xray may not be necessary.

And for your information, taking an xray before tooth extraction is not to make sure that there are other teeth below the gum line that needs to be removed! That's a wrong information. The major reason Is to see the morphology of the root and then the relationship of the root to the inferior alveolar canal and other considerations. For an adult, you don't expect to see any other tooth below the tooth to be extracted. For a child however, extraction of his/her baby tooth will require an xray to see the underlying permanent tooth, not for it to be extracted, but to have an idea of approximate time it will come out in the mouth and if it is in the correct path of eruption.

One of my molars have been disturbing me for years now. At a point I have to use one side to eat. It started decaying and some of its parts started falling off.

So recently the other side i was managing developed a big hole.

To cut everything short, i visited a dentist today, he extracted the damaged molar and filled the one with a hole. The Pain is unbearable, I saw hell today.

ThankGod am getting better now.

Please if you notice a hole on your teeth, go meet a dentist to fill it, don't wait for it to get worse.

Filling cost 6k
Extraction cost 5k

Am happy I v removed my 6+yrs pain.

Op you should have removed the too at once. The one you refilled would soon be given you problem again. It has happened to me like that before. The two premolars, I had to go back and remove the second one.
