Unfortunate to even come from a former general, this is a blunder, blunder

Thegracefulness:
Update: Majority of you are daft for telling me to ignore this because previous administrations did it. You have no idea how clownish you sound trying to convince me to part with evil because someone else must have done it. That’s the problem. Party affiliations would blind you. I’m not concerned if anybody has done this before. This is wrong and unnecessary. Do you know how many hundreds of millions the struggling economy would have to cough out to compensate these men? When it could ordinarily have been avoided. Buhari campaigned on integrity. Buhari campaigned on changing the “status quo.” Thrice. Just to come and do the same thing others were doing? Do you see how insensible you sound?

Agree with me or not, this is unfair and underserved retirement for this men. No matter what political views you subscribe to, if you’re being fair and reasonable, you’d see Nigeria is facing a terrible security crisis that requires all hands on deck. You cannot be retiring Generals at this point in time, and you know why these men are going on retirement. A very flimsy and petty reason. You know who’s behind this.

What would it have caused the President to appoint a competent Chief of Army staff from the regular course 36? Ask yourself again. And then you argue that it is to his discretion. But when a person’s choice, when their discretion is causing so much vile and resentment, and public outcry, does it not show something is inherently wrong with the person and inadvertently their ability to make choices?
Currently, I’m yet to see people who trusts the President’s good judgement. If you do, notify me, let me tell you where you belong.

He made a claim on AriseTv, that he only appoints people who he knows. But is the seat of Governance a family reunion? You don’t have to know these individuals. There’s a public service commission. There are individuals responsible for suggesting appointments to you. Appointments generally should be for the betterment of the people. Not to satisfy your familiarity or ethnocentric tendencies.

Do you know by implication, he’s saying all those men do not level up to the substance of the newly appointed vaunted Farouk Yahaya? That’s an insult to men who are older than him in the force, who worked and served their asses off to a country that does not rate them. Nigeria is sending them off to compulsory retirement simply because of what? The Nigerian “Presidency” is playing with matters of great national security. These appointments are bedevilling.

Although it is unfair to retire people forcefully so as to appoint a junior. This has been an extant military tradition in Nigeria. I hope you said same when other Generals were retired forcefully under the the last administration to appoint Azubuike as Chief Of Army Staff?

Some of you folks are just being hypocritical. You call this Government a “Jihadist” Government. Meanwhile, this same “Jihadist Government” appointed Leo Irhabor, a Christian Southerner to become the Chief of Defence Staff. I hope you're aware that this position is the highest in the military? Under Goodluck Jonathan, a “non-Jihadist”, no single Muslim Northerner served as Chief of Army Staff or Chief of Defence Staff. Meanwhile, this “Jihadist” fairly appointed two Northerners and two Southerners as service chiefs.

No Muslim Northerner my foot, you guys are too greedy..
Out of the Security chiefs, you only chose Army chief and Defence...must you be in appointments...
Look at things holistically, must you always be given unmerited appointments for you to be happy?
Out of all the administrations, you are mentioning Jonathan even when he balanced the appointment, and even favoured us more than the South.
Is it your birthright? check out the history of appointments in Army,Police,Navy,Air force,FCT and even president/head of state and tell me who is cheating who...
Wicked and greedy elements.

Many people don't know that when you kill bureaucracy, you kill zeal to work. Buhari and all APC zombies are fools.

And that's one of the reasons they keep finding it hard to defeat boko haram, bandits etc because they keep flushing out men and women who have been trained with tax payers money, people who have gathered experience over the years and replace them with those who are just coming up. Our once upon a time brave, experienced, tactical, efficient and respected armed forces has now been reduced to something else! Low morale, soldiers going AWOL, with mistrust amongst themselves, etc one can go on and on

Senior Officers are angry that they are being retired because their junior was promoted above them; While some junior officers like my Landlord will be happy that he will get promotion because of the vacancies created by easing out 36 regular course members. He was already in high spirit the last time I spoke with him.

Being a president requires mental alertness. I don't think PMB is mentally alert, because the Nigeria we have today is full of sycophants, so you need the ability to discern.

TO this end, I dare say PMB is a like a blind man in government, and because he cannot really believe his advisers, his mind thinks its best to appoint people from Katsina or its environs.

This is one of the effects playing out.

In fairness to Buhari, he made a point that those retired in favor of the new CoAS doesn't have the field experience to manage the troops which is perfectly logical. Theory stays in the head, practical brings experience.

And from yesterday's interview, I saw a man who knows what the country's problem is and how to tackle.
Those retired doesn't have field experience? The same field experience Buratai had and yet d nation was bedevilled by insecurity & he could not do anything 4 year he was in office as d COAS & even said dat d situation wil continue for d next 20 yrs.

1) end sars was young people trying to topple him
2) End Sars caused unemployment and Nigerias economic woes
3) youths should employ themselves and not look to government to create the promised millions of jobs
4) state governors should tackle Herdmen issue and not disturb him but he will face the ESN/BIAFRA
5) Herdmen aren't even Nigerians
6) the french demarcated the boundary wrongly and removed his cousins to another country and the railway we are building with loans to Niger republic is for our own good
7)The SE is a dot surrounded and the SS is loyal to one Nigeria. And every igbo man is Ipob.

And this is one of the main reasons why some people would prefer to have their own nation. Have you ever applied to any public job whatsoever in Nigeria? I am sure you have not. Be it military, paramilitary, or public government jobs, its just man no man and any affiliation to the dominant tribe. Do you think there is fair play in anything in Nigeria? That is one of the reasons why they are well-positioned for all those lucrative jobs. Take a look at the composition of the supreme court and Customs. Its dominated by the Northerners. To tell you the truth, they are well positioned for any good opportunity even if they are morons and unintelligent.

You should have been more specific sha but in terms of merit, experience and quality,he is better than most major generals.look at his promotional history. He is course 37 but was promoted ahead of his coursemates in 2017 when course 35 and 36 were promoted to man gen.infact, his name was among the first five while his mates in course 37 were promoted from 2018 to 2019.,this depicts merits and hardwork

You have a better follow-up than me to that effect.

But need I tell you that promotion in our armed forces is most ridiculed by nepotism, bigotry and to a deeper extend tribalism. Guy, if you know how promotion is done now, you'll weep for our current crop of armed forces especially since Buhari came to power.

When was the last time we experienced this sort of mass exodus from our military like we have witnessed for the past 5years?

I have friends and relatives in the armed forces. Good friends that we would rather sleep together whenever we meet than stay apart. In fact it's an offense.
