OP,
If you like Taraba state, the people and their culture, and you're sure of getting job in the state, I think you should consider going there.

One thing people don't know is that, getting a nice job in the Northern part of the country is much more easier than any part of the country.

Of a truth, the place of insecurity can not be overemphasized, but then I don't think safety is guaranteed (to a very large extent) in any part of the country presently.

I had my NYSC on the Plateau, Jos precisely. I was advised to stay back by my employer, I was able to convince my parents and they agreed. And I can say that decision is one of the best I've made in the last decade.

I will just advise you @OP, to channel your job search to the state capital, the state capitals in the North are always safe, at least to some extent.

Another thing is, they don't employ you based on the class you graduated with, it's none of their business, since you're good at what you do and you can deliver, you're good to go.

Most importantly, pray about it, let God direct and order your steps. You're more safer than save.

Selah.

Are you still in Jos?

Most times people do things without involving God in everything. Pray before you go so as to get direction so you won't return the same way you went. If you're a Christian pray and ask God for a solution, if you're a Muslim visit Alfas and ask them to pray for you and if you're a traditionalists visit them and ask them to help you check if that place you're travelling to will favour you. I believe in the Lord Jesus Christ but am only saying this cause you might not be a Christian and you might belong to other religion.

Your parents have the best of intentions for you and want to protect you.
But you will have to disobey them at some point, or else you will never mature. If things don't work out for you in life, because you were just obeying them, you will end up bitter and resentful towards them later in life.
You have to understand they are just people, sometimes they don't know any better than you.

Don't let them guilt you with religion/culture, just disagree with them, but don't disrespect them.
It's your life to live at this point, you should make your decisions and take your own risks.

Nice one.

andyblinks05, listen to this.

Your parents have good intentions for you BUT they might NOT be the right choices for you.

In some years to come, you'll blame yourself for not taking the best decision for you & this will make you resent your parents.

Above all, seek divine direction.

Wisely spoken. I'm facing the same thing now.

i wonder if he would not chicken out like me and continue to stay with parents, although in my own case i already have a job which i really dislike, if not that i am capable of blanking my mind without narcotics i would have been taking drugs just to get up to go to work.. thats how much i disregard the job.

just like his, my parents didn't want me to move too, nd of course there is the curse stuff they(my mum especially) blackmail me with. all these dont bother me though. my father on the other hand be like "go if you want to go" then behind my back he goes to tell my boss that i have agreed to work for half salary, all these he does just to avoid me leaving nd he is indepthed to my boss who is also his boss nd a relative. complicated shiit ryt!!

i can't move, well no cash at hand(rents have to be paid annually or bi-annually in full nd in advance) and no one to host me for the mean time(the only one that would host me has been offended by my dad, her son.. crazy right

i dont speak the language, even though it is irrelevant it wouldn't stop my nationality from being questioned. Thats just one of the benefits of having anything to do with nigeria.

im managing my job to raise money to process some stuff in naija at the moment.. in short, all plans i have made are geared towards getting me out of these chains my loved ones have put on me.

Things will work out well bro!!! No too reason am!

I hope things work out.

I have somewhat of an overprotective mother myself, and I've observed some of the damage parents do to their kids unintentionally, by shackling them down and wish I had this knowledge slightly earlier in life.
But it's not like I'm old or anything. I'll graduate Uni this year (or next if I mess up).
I plan to use my NYSC (if the government doesn't discontinue it) to take a few calculated risks and figure some stuff out.

I was just asking based on some talks here that it's bad for the OP to Move to Taraba while someone is doing good for himself over there!! So I think if you can do well over there then anyone can too! It's just depends on Personality , Luck and nature plus GOD

If you're not Tiv, Igbo and you don't run after anything under skirt surely you will make it.

I'm talking strictly on business, because that is what am into.
