Ambitious women occupied top positions in the olden days. I don't think there's anything like full time house wife in the olden days, except maybe kings wife. Olden days women were business women. Most of them were always into one business or the other. Their business place can even be at home (E.g Hair dressing). Men were majorly into farming, while women would go to market to sell farm harvest. Men do, women do. Whatever they both make is what they both feed on. Women of the olden days were entrepreneurs, they started handy works like tailoring, hair dress, beads making etc. High level of contentment and low level of entitlement mentality.
