You don't need to have an elaborate wedding to apply for a spousal visa.. A court wedding with few family and friends is okay. What is important is you take enough pics that shows the wedding is real.

A Muslim citizen of America was in relationship with a bro Since 2020 then and they have concluded on getting married..
So she intend coming to Nigeria to marry him..
So what are the ways and protocols she has to follow to take him along with him to America

What type of Visa will they get
How can they conduct the wedding
Can they go married without family consent or borrow some people to snap picture since the bro has no parent

How long does this process takes
Can they not do wedding and get certificate

What if she doesn't want to come to Nigeria can she still file for petition even if she has never been to NIGERIA..

It might end in tears for either or both of you.
1. You both won't be able to do proper jobs because of work permit/greencard that you both don't have.

2. Either or both of you may have to do arrange marriage to get papers which could be expensive (5k to 10k usd).

3. Both of you will have to divorce first before the arrange marriage can be successful because you will either/both need the divorced certificate at uscis or nvc

4. There is 80% chance that your woman will develop feelings for her arrangee husband and there is nothing you can do about it because the man is seen as the legally husband to her according to US database.

5. When either or both of you decided to terminate the arrangees to come together again, you might have to re-file marriage because you were both legally divorced.

6. You might have problems convincing USCIS about why you both divorced earlier, married new spouses, divorced the spouses and decided to come together again.

Its a tough one except you are ready to sacrifice your marriage.


If you will take my advice, one of you should go for studies, get job and be PR, then the person files F2A for the one in Nigeria to join him/her legally

1. Spousal visa.. She will have to file for him there to come over that is after a court wedding. And of course she will need the marriage certificate and date of birth to do that.

2. They can go for court wedding at Ikoyi registry.

3. Ofcourse they can get married without family consent. Only that they must be at least two witness present at the wedding. And it is always good they take enough pics, the couple, friends and family as well as well wishes to serve as a proof of genuine wedding should the consular doubt the genuiness of the marriage.


4. The process take minimum of 18 month or so.

5. If she does not want to come to Nigeria for them to get married, then she can file fiance or k1 visa for him. However, she must have visited him twice in Nigeria with lots of pics showing they are genuine lovers before such visa could be granted.

6. It is a must she comes to Nigeria. Unless thr guy can travel to see her on a visiting visa after wish she can file K1 visa for her. Either she or he must pay a visit.

7 No. She cannot file for spousal visa without marriage certificate.
