dupyshoo: You are very correct and couples are advised to not let competition, money or secrecy about earnings /savings eat slowly but surely at the root of their marriage. Not that when one party is earning and saving well the higher earner is open with their savings and the lower earner even opens the higher earners bank statements and the higher earner helps (as they should) the lower earner financially but when the tables get turned, the erstwhile lower earner starts hiding their income / savings from the other person and are not as financially transparent with their spouse. Some of these unnecessary financial competition / secrecy between a couple in a marriage may be as a result of bad advice from the parent of one party but may also be as a result of the erstwhile lower earner being unnecessarily competitive or just being an ingrate. |

lightest: If I were you I would go for the plumbing training because :- i) i would be thinking of the effect of mechanic work on my spine long term as a lot of mechanics later suffer from lower back pain and slipped disks due to the strain on their back and vertebra from their work. ii) Plumbers also suffer from the effect of heavy lifting of boilers but it is nothing compared to that of mechanics and with age you can always diversify to only do annual gas inspections for landlords as against boiler servicing / fittings. iii) Electricians also tick all the boxes that plumbers do for me as they both are heavily regulated in the UK by NICEIC just like plumbers are regulated by the Gas Safe Register (a task formerly done by CORGI) . UK plumbers deal with both kitchen drainage pipes, sewage (toilet drainage pipes) as well as central heating boiler systems unlike Nigerian plumbers who mainly deal with just the first 2 and I'm guessing that in the UK you can decide to specialize on Central Heating systems which I perceive has the most demand due to the yearly winter causing boiler problems all over the country. During the Covid lockdown most people hardly used their cars and so mechanics must have suffered a fall in business. Electricians are needed a lot but by my estimation, not as much as Plumbers because come rain come shine there must be winter every year and with winter comes a lot of boilers breaking down up and down the country and eventually as a plumber, you can become self employed and earn GOOD money whilst self employed with your own van and tools. So, for me, plumbing it is but what ever you do, i) choose a reputable, well recognized and well recommended plumber training school (search online) (train with Oyinbo British who fully understand their own plumbing systems / history), and make sure the trainer you choose is registered with the Gas Safe Register. ii) don't spare costs or cut corners whilst you are building this new foundation in your plumbing training. iii) post training the world is your oyster finance wise (literally) . 1 Like 3 Shares |

Lexusgs430: Whilst the minimum wage in the UK is £8.91 per hour, some Nigerian restaurant owners and shop keepers in London pay some of their Nigerian staff the equivalent of £2 per hour because they don't have work permit and are desperate and so have to work slave hours in order to earn something tangible but at the expense of the toll on their bodies and because they have overstayed their visa they can't easily normalise their stay and they can't go back to Nigeria either due to fear of being called failures by their families and also the fear of hunger. 4 Likes 1 Share |

Lexusgs430: Although it will be hard to successfully prosecute anyone for looking at what is placed in direct view of his or her eye sight in public and if the "displayer" is not even careful he or she will be the one prosecuted for exhibitionism. Voyeurism on the other hand (also a criminal offense) is where you are looking into the privacy of someones home where they are entitled to be naked and get up to all sorts as long as it is within the 4 walls of their home even with the curtains open and any peeping tom that breaches that privacy of their 4 walls has committed the criminal offense of voyeurism as opposed to someone who goes naked in a public space and that person can be charged with the criminal offense of exhibitionism. Voyeurism laws were probably brought into UK law to offer protection for their high and mighty who get up to all sorts in their houses - wife swapping, orgies etc and equally exhibitionism laws were brought in to curtail the excesses of flashers and people obsessed with having sex in public places. The Brits have been so sexually repressed that they have a fetish for having sex in public / with strangers etc as evidenced by their underground practice of dogging . If you knew what goes on in daylight behind some seemingly innocent bushes in the UK, you will marvel and a lot of supermarket car parks become dogging points after dark such that the Met police even have a dogging map online. |

Lexusgs430: Well spotted and I also remember George Michael who sang Careless Whispers and also Stedman Pearson of the Five Star music group who have both been charged with public indecency both after being arrested in public toilets in America and London respectively. The Brits though stiff upper lipped most times are obsessed with the thrill of sex in public but they do it codedly in known places even in daylight (behind bushes for example in the busy Greenwich City Centre) but mainly after dark at known places and the police won't bust them en masse because the high and mighty are involved too and I wouldn't be surprised if some top police Chiefs are partakers too. Some people in the UK including a popular Eastenders star get their thrills by driving their wives or girlfriends to public places like supermarkets car parks, parks and desolate pathways after dark, leaving their woman in the car and hiding in the bushes and as if on cue, a total stranger will enter the car and shag their wife or girlfriend and this in some weird way turns them on ? So, that respectable elderly neighbor who likes walking his dog near bushes at night might actually be watching free blue film IN PUBLIC every night from doggers who carry out their activities after dark. The Brits have been so regulated by so many laws and taxed into submission that some of them get their kicks in extreme but coded ways especially the high and mighty and that is why when an MP is at first exposed for weird or extreme sexual antics, at first there is an uproar but it finally dies down because a lot of them are at it as they need that outlet to let off steam from their stressful jobs and the constant search light being shone on them. 1 Like 1 Share |

Zeecos: It is not legally allowed. They can request a holding fee but that has to discounted off the first's month rent if they rent to you or refunded in full if they don't rent to you. No other upfront costs is allowed - although with the shortage of rentals, agents can do and undo if no one reports them. From 1 June 2019, the only payments that landlords or letting agents can charge to tenants in relation to new contracts are: rent a refundable tenancy deposit capped at no more than 5 weeks’ rent where the total annual rent is less than £50,000, or 6 weeks’ rent where the total annual rent is £50,000 or above a refundable holding deposit (to reserve a property) capped at no more than 1 week’s rent payments associated with early termination of the tenancy, when requested by the tenant payments capped at £50 (or reasonably incurred costs, if higher) for the variation, assignment or novation of a tenancy payments in respect of utilities, communication services, TV licence and Council Tax https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/tenant-fees-act 2 Likes |

folak48: The visa usually states that no work or recourse of public fund. With those you cannot work legally. Options to work Legally are: 1. Hooking a man on tier2/ILR like Lexusgs430, with this visa you are a dependent and can do unlimited work and unlimited hours 2. Getting a job based on your skill in Nigeria and then applying for the Point based system tier 2 visa, you need 70 points to be accepted; I am currently in via this route 3. Applying for a Master etc; you are eligible to 20hrs or so per week. But unlimited during holidays, but you can always tweak the system Sharp guys have worked with the visiting Visa, but it's not legal 1 Like |
