A building under construction has collapsed in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State.

The building located at 77, Tapa Road, Oke Ojo Isawo along Ikorodu in Lagos, caved in at about 2:30 pm on Tuesday, according to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).

“The landlord, Pastor Daniel Obasi was trapped and the body recovered,” Coordinator of NEMA in the state, Mr. Ibrahim Farinloye, said in a statement.

He said the Police have taken the body to the morgue of the General Hospital, Ikorodu.

According to a neighbour, Construction works were suspended due to the Eid El Kabir celebration.

Workers were said to be at work till late evening on Monday.

Lagos State and collapsed buildings are inseparable, no year passes by without them recording a collapse building.


Quite unfortunate the landlord meet his end in such horrific manner.

Someone introduced me to some bricklayers to help fence one of my properties. If you see the kind of blocks they brought ehn. You can't lift the blocks without it breaking. It was basically softer than cake.

I'minto construction and I see that often, block breaking like they were made of sand alone.
I hope regulators wake up to see to this menace coz it's scary.
Tho most of our blocks are not load bearing block but they should aleast satisfy so criteria.

I disagree... I think it's a result of using inferior quack engineer rather.
Only an inferior quack engineer will accept and use inferior material for storey building structure.

House construction in Lagos is very bad, especially the mainland

The bricks are poorly constructed

No supervision from the government whatsoever, Only omo onile to collect their tax

People living in Lagos are really trying
