I see nothing good about this because when local currencies are converted into crypto there would be low volatility thereby making it a no go area for crypto traders and investors, as we all know we make profit from how volatile it is and local currency does not have that advantage but when it comes to payment alone it makes sense, it would facilitate payment in a secured way cry

Make man wait make normal crypto currencies gbera back ni o.

When is it going to to be implemented, a lot of good projects had gone down under the water after being announced without effective follow up. Digital currency will help in control corruption in the country.

Osinbajo clearly uses crypto. He sounds like someone who has stashed funds in blockchain.

Else how can someone who prints out tweets to read know so much about blockchain tech?

Nigeria is more of an importing country, such nation doesn't need digital currency from its CBN.

What Nigerian government need to do is to find ways to attract manufacturing and production into Nigeria.

How

Be serious with ending insecurity, especially kidnapping for ransom by various armed groups in Nigeria. Make use of drone technology to fight insecurity and use less of humans to protect your Police and Army from Guerrilla terrorists and militant groups.

Give incentives to indigenous and foreign investors willing to invest in manufacturing and production.

How

Give them 10 years tax free incentive. The people they will employ will pay the tax through personal income tax, plus employment they will create that will boost Nigeria's middleclass population and rejig the Nigerian economy.

Mandate CBN to mandate banks to give serious investors ready to invest in local manufacturing, production and craft very low interest loan that will almost be like zero interest and spread the repayment timeline to a decade to give them enough time to stabilize their business.

Map out federal and state industrial hubs or zones that will grant serious investors ready to invest in certain manufacturing and production sectors free land lease for 10 years.

When you do this for 20 years stretch, you will create a lot of millionaires and billionaires in Nigeria who will in turn employ a lot of Nigerians

The biggest mistake Nigerians would make is putting their finances in the hands of this fulani government via this digital currency....... imagine the unlimited powers it would give the government, the data, spending patterns and ability to easily seize your funds.....this is the wet dream of any dictator and am utterly disappointed that osinbanjo came up with this crazy idea. This shit must not see the light of the day.

I can see people rejoicing that the cbn is creating a coin, if you truly know how the crypto world runs you'll understand that this is just another method they wanna use to make your life as a crypto trader miserable.
It's just like giving your child to your enemy in marriage, I just pity those wey go buy am
Sometimes I just wonder why is it that these country are always the first to practice all this type of shit, just watch out how other countries will aslo follow this step in the following days.

It's not about people not buying it but the government not forcing it down on us, if the Nigerian government decides to make it a legal tender there's really nothing anyone can do, china is doing a similar thing with the renminbi and there's a reason why Zuckerberg's own was shut down in the US. The best option is to ensure that our law makers sees that this stuff doesn't see the light of the day.
