Why is it that Nigeria clubs are underperforming at the continental stage, unlike the national team?

Which national team is performing?
Olympics team didn't even qualify

Lol
TP mazembe is a well managed team and pay quite well. See, naija no dey work. Some countries at least have well managed teams in Africa.
Ahly of Egypt, Esperance of Tunisia, Zamalek, Soudowns of South Africa, Orlando pirates, Pyramids fc of Egypt, FA Rabat of Morocco, wydad of Morocco, etc these teams pay relatively well and are well managed institutions. These clubs buy players from other continents too.
It is just that Nigeria is finished and has nothing working. There is nothing made in Nigeria that is working.
Some of these African countries have working football leagues, stable electricity, proper health care, better education, etc.

It's an upliftment for anybody playing in Nigeria to be signed by that club, and the guy is even going from an unknown club in Nigeria.

National team has European based players mainly. Especially since the early 1990s.(1990 was the last time we had a national team that was mainly home based) and more often have either foreign coaches or the best of the home based coaches

That's why

Imaging DR Congo coming to sign Nigerian players?

What has really gone wrong with our football

Our league back in the 1990s and 2000s use to boast of foreigners from Ghana, Benin republic, cote d voure and at a time Brazilians

But today every player is rushing out

Bro ehn, they are too many dumb people in Nigeria, TP Mazembe is on par with the big guns of North Africa.

They have their own private jet, no club in the NPFL have enough money to buy a standard bus

What can keep our players back in the NPFL

1. Stable league calendar... Not abridged league and PPG

2. Good organization

3. Prompt and consisted salary payment..... Not striking at government house gate

4. Proper contract for players

T.P mazembe isn't exactly a small team. They are a big team with a lot of history . Won the African champions league thrice

Also Nigerian players have played in other African countries before. Emmanuel amuneke played for Zamalek in the 1990s. Friday ekpo played in Gabon in the early 1990s. Rashidi Yekini played in Ivory coast in the late 1980s and early 1990s. and Willy okpara and Peterside ijah spent plenty of time in South Africa.in the 1990s. Just some examples.

Some of our guys even played in Sudan some 13 years ago self.

Is this a joke?

AS Vita and TP are almost always in the latter stages champions league. Both are recent continental champions. DRC have two slots in both the champions league and the confederations Cup. Hope you're not confusing DR Congo with Congo Brazzaville?

And no Nigerian club owns a stadium. All the stadia are govt-owned.
