Choosing To Stay And Lobby For A Federal Job Or Travel Abroad For Studies by Oviebright: 6:57pm On Aug 16, 2021
I'm 24 years of age finished nysc and graduated a couple of years ago. Job searching but nothing tangible out of it.

I'm opportuned as my family members are ready to sponsor me to study abroad but we're not rich just a average Nigeria family who can raise funds to do it. But the thing is that I'm having double minds as to whether to lobby and pay for a federal government job or start making plans to leave naija but the problem is that the money is there but no connect there.

What do you think I should decide ON?

Whether to stay in naija and lobby for a federal job or Start making plans to go abroad? But the thing is that we can gather the money to buy a slot if possible but no connect.

Masa better japa. Even if you pay for a federal government job, how much will be your salary. Do you know how long it will take to get a salary of even 300k as a government worker. Except you plan to live off corruption Sha. You are young japa.

I'm of the opinion that every young and ambitious Nigerian should flee the country, the earlier the better. Unlike many young people in Nigeria, you've people who are WILLING to sponsor your education overseas. Not many young Nigerians have able sponsors let alone those who are willing. For them to say they will sponsor you, they will likely spend the minimum of N10M especially if it's in a western country. That's what you want to let go for a federal job? Same job in a country which is about to be declared bankrupt? A country that with the way things are going, most people would resort to slamming their heads five times daily? Where there is runaway inflation? The future of Nigeria is precarious and she is going to be either or all of the following: Lebanon, Venezuela, Afghanistan and Zimbabwe. That's Nigeria's future, don't allow anyone gaslight or deceive you. Is that what you want instead of a sane life in a place where things work?

I sincerely hope they will bring Development to the African Nation, instead of importing Terrorism from their Afghanistan that they flee from.

Like if you think it's good that our African Uganda agreed to take them as Refugees, Share if not.

The fact that you’re lobbying to get a job should tell you that this country doesn’t worth it.

But I can understand, the situation of Nigeria have made abnormality to become normal to some people.

So stay and continue your lobbying, it’s Norma thing to you

Okpo travel! Nigeria is only enjoyable for people that earn like 700k above, at least you will live like a big man and not work killing hours and spend 70% of your salary on bills and Taxes.

But what is a young man like you going to do with peanut government salaries? Except you wan theive money o! No try am!

Please JAPA oooo!!!

Go and start a career over there, if you're very good at what you do, you become a national asset. Unlike here that the government is even borrowing from Pensions pocket.

Earning and Sending money in hard currency is way better than looking for federal government work, especially when you don't have connection.

except if he's going to UK, it will be easy for him to get a job after his studies. Especially in US and Canada.

My dear, before you travel abroad ask questions. Not all abroad are abroad. I live in Kazakhstan and I thank God I left Nigeria because i know someone here and there was a job waiting for me but the problem is that many Nigerians who are coming here, the so called agents don't tell them the truth that in many countries, you will be shocked at the kind of jobs you will do and your expectations of being a millionaire overnight might not come to pass. So there r many factors that might hindered your Eldorado. So ask better questions oo

Please let those same sponsors pool money together and you can start business here. At this stage, use the skills you learned in school + NYSC, solve a need, and get paid for it.

Those who are able to travel abroad anyhow made it in business here in Nigeria. Those abroad can barely afford to visit once every couple years.

I think you should leave brother. But the most important thing is to not go and become a nuisance to wherever you are moving to. Most especially don’t forget people back home.
