Shagari's 1979 campaign poster surfaced online last week. In it, he was talking about power, refineries etc. 41+ years later, 207m people are using 2,500MW of power. No refinery. I mean, even if you are crawling. As in say devil dey person back and he could only manage to add 1,000MW of power per year, we supposed dey talk at least 40,000 MW.

You see this useless entity called Nigeria cannot go anywhere. Those of you wasting your hopes and prayers, your fathers were probably hopeful in 1979.

This satellite technology, 30 years later, u go discover say we no go get one single one in space.

Clown!

Sunlight alone does not produce solar power.

What is the use of all these satellites when the govt can't even use it to locate bandits in the forests? Wasting billions of dollars for absolutely nothing.

Thoughtless post. How do you know they are not being used to locate bandits?

Did the military authorities even tell you that 'locating' the bandits was a problem for them?

The issue of actually mounting offensives against military targets goes beyond merely locating the targets.

So how do you know the satellites haven't done their job, and it's actually a military issue?

Stop lying. Power generation currently stands at double what you claimed.

It is 5,118.6MW.

And the only ''useless entity'' here is you.

You're completely useless to Nigeria.

He said one of the satellites, which was commissioned in 2011, has a seven years lifespan and expired in 2018.

Shaba, who spoke yesterday on Channels Television, said the satellite was supposed to have been replaced but that the country had not done so because satellites function on fuel that gets exhausted after a period and gets decommissioned, if not replaced.

He said: “We have a satellite in high orbit, which was launched in 2011 and it has a seven-year lifespan. It was supposed to have expired in 2018.

https://thenationonlineng.net/no-cause-for-alarm-over-expired-satellites-says-nasrda/

Illiterate people, the satellite did not run out of any fuel or petrol, it was designed to expire in 2018 but it's still active to our advantage because of its quality design and workmanship.

Why Nigerians love to display ignorance and idiocy for the world to see beats me.

Even simple google research they are too lazy and incompetent to do, they just sit and moan over fake and fraudulent news.

In other words I guess we were better off without satellite.

Ghana does not have a single satellite but yet their economy and security surpasses Nigeria a thousand times over

In an educational thread like this you have come to display your ignorance....ghana economy surpases Nigerias 1000 times ?.....are you for real?
Its obvious you dont know what you are saying.....ghana thats not even up to Oyo state economically.....

Virtualization bas made chicken like you talk back at every person online. All these half illiterates. Few weeks ago power transmission crashed to about 500MW. I can school your father on power activities in Nigeria. I have complete log of weekly power generation from the Ministry of Power. Y'all morons thought everybody is brain dead like u and your useless pres.

Ignoramus. Go back and read the BENEFITS of the satellites as stated in the post.

Is there anywhere it said having satellites will make all Nigerians millionaires with mansions?

In your head everything is about ''money'' and ''security''.

What about things like erosion control? Disaster management? Weather prediction? Agricultural monitoring? Environmental impact assessments for construction? Climate analysis?

Do you know Ghana and much of West Africa rely on Nigeria for satellite imagery and data?

Ignorant, self hating buffoons.

In other words they benefit and you Nigerian farmers don't benefit.

Why not use it to track bokoharam movement and herdsmen movement to checkmate security like the other African countries are doing.
Guess you forgot to take your medication

Accepted but the whole satellite thing has not made any impact.

It's like with the NIN thing going on the rate of banditry has increased.

No security no stable economic growth wether with satellite or not.

Things are really rough out there in the streets try and go out and see for your self

The satellites in use were designed and built by Nigerian space engineers.

Nigerians are the first black people to build satellites.

Satellite uses fuel as propellers only to initiate thrust to the direction of the antenna. After the movement is initiated, it continues in that direction with solar energy installed in it.
So yes they use fuel and they also run out of fuel

The strength of an economy is not measured by gdp only. On what basis is Ghana’s economy far lower than Ghana? Is it per capita income? Is it per capita gdp? Is it by life expectancy? Is it by youth employment, access to electricity, food, security, maternal and infant health? Is it even by access to quality health care, education etc? How exactly is Ghana’s economy far lower than Nigeria? Yes, lower in terms of gdp figures but is gdp the only was to determine how well a country is doing?
