Now the still a current increasing in electrical bill, i remember when we use to pay like #200-#500 in my location per month now every month its like 2k and above. Its a public compound oh.

what exactly are we paying that is increasing this bill. The last time we had a transformer issue we contributed money and go a new one. Poll fall area alro contributed money, you pay them to come and connect your light if disconected. If you're having issue you pay them after they finish fixing it. I dont know why are they still increasing the bill again,

1.If APC were to fulfil the lie they told about paying for fuel at N40, they would have had to pay subsides that would have tipped us into debt.(There is a reason why they had no business opposing GEJ's subsidy removal, but they preferred to play politics, rather than think of Nigeria's future)

2.In brief, we are paying N1 trillion now annually to keep fuel at N162 per liter. The cost goes up should Buhari decide to reduce prices of fuel. Meanwhile our income from oil is falling drastically.

3.To keep fuel at N97 UNDER GEJ, we paid N6 trillion between 2010 and 15.

4.N1 trillion could 1) enroll 1 million Nigerians under NHIS 2) help out our education sector.

5.We cannot build refineries because if we want to keep such refinereis running, we have to make them profitable. That's not possible under a subsidy

6.Here is how a subsidy works. We import fuel at N266 per liter, and sell it at N162. Subsidy is what we pay to NNPC (before it was what we paid to NNPC plus importers) to offsett the loss they incurr from keeping fuel prices that low.

Even then the cost is rising. In 2012, we were selling fuel at N65 and importing it at N99. In 2018 we were selling fuel at N145 and importing it at N180.

Also we don't have working refineries because in order to keep fuel costs low, government allowed the 4 refineries to have limited operating costs. Which meant, in practice, that there was not enough cash to keep the refineries running well.
