Good day everyone, I will be using this thread to carefully narrate my 30 days sojourn from Cotonou to the city of Dubai to enable those that are yet to make the trip or are already on their way to learn a lot from my terrible experience and the breakthrough of overcoming all odds to finally travel into Dubai.

During my write-up my audience will know all the secrets surrounding the journey and the way agents frustrated alot of Nigerians who travelled through same road. It is a true life experience filled with tears, frustrations and a bit of happiness sandwiched in between. Let me not bore you with long talks just relax as I take you on a journey I kicked off from Benin city, Nigeria on the 12th of April 2021 that culminated into a 30 days trip.

P.s: kindly note that during the course of my experience in Cotonou there are some discussion I won't be able to dwell much on due to violating any of the nairaland rules, and also mind some of the typographical errors and just decode the message am giving out.

Xup bro. Please what's the name of the 2 hotel you stay in cotonou. And which area is the hotel.

My uncle in Dubai told me to bring 900k for tourist visa in Dubai, ticket, covid test and insurance.. is the 900k worth it or not? Cause I do not trust him and he also mentioned me paying for agent fee to get a job, he said my first salary is for the agent..
Should I go ahead with this or not?
Re: My 30 Days Sojourn Through Cotonou To Dubai by Derende(m): 12:37pm On Aug 22, 2021
This is the breakdown of estimated expenses as at today then you can judge from what your uncle is telling you;
3 months tourist visa: 184,000
Flight Ticket : 374,000
Covid test: 76,000
Passport stamping in Cotonou: 20,000
Hotel bill in Cotonou for 3 days: 21,000
Transport from your state to Cotonou and within Cotonou during period of stay: 20,000
Yellow card: 6500
Miscellaneous expenses : 50,000

Total: ₦731,500.

Note: You alone will know the amount of bta you can carry along as your travelling allowance on the day you are travelling to Dubai.
And when calculating your bta to avoid stranding in Dubai after fees weeks of your arrival, this will be your estimated bta;
2 month's rent - 55k *2 - 110,000
2 month's feeding- 45k*2 - 90,000
Agent fee incase you don't land yourself a job within the first one month or two months of your stay- 100,000
Total Bta: 300,000.

You can see that I based the bta you are expected to come along with on a two month calculation reason been that if you eventually get a job within your first month of entering Dubai you can feed easily for the second month with your bta before you are paid your salary and you can conveniently pay your accommodation if your company is not giving you accommodation.
As for the amount budgeted for agent fee in the bta, I don't know your smartness or hustling spirit, if you are tech savvy you can land yourself a job without the help of an agent before your visa expire, so I don't really support the area you paying any agent to get a job when you arrive.
And lastly never you if you must pay an agent money at all for a job pay any money ahead, make sure you are given the job first and you see an offer letter before parting with your hard earned money. If you pay any agent any money when you have not seen a job and you are been scammed OYO will be your second name.
That is my 5 cent to you for now.

pls op how do u go about extending ur stay after ur tourist visa epired
Re: My 30 Days Sojourn Through Cotonou To Dubai by Derende(m): 8:05am On Aug 25, 2021
You can extend your stay a week before your current visa expires in the UAE by going for a visa change. The same agent that processed your tourist visa will be the same person you will contact to put in for a visa change though it is a bit expensive. The lowest amount you will be charged for a three month visa change is 1800aed which is equivalent to ₦252,000 with the current exchange rate of ₦140 to 1aed

Are u gonna be repeating the proccess every 3months, isn't it possible to get like 2years working visa? Thanks for the swift response bless you
Re: My 30 Days Sojourn Through Cotonou To Dubai by Derende(m): 1:07pm On Aug 25, 2021
It is not a process you will be repeating every three months. If you are lucky you won't even have any need of going for a visa change because if you are able to get a job within your first or second month of entering Dubai, your employer will put in for a two year work visa for you.
But visa change only occurs in a situation whereby you are not able to land a job within the period of the validity of your visa and you don't intend going back home or a situation you get a job at the tail end when your visa is about to expire and there is a kind of stringent policy by your employer that you need to be under studied for a period of a month or two before a work visa can be put in for you. That is the two major areas you will need to go for visa change to avoid been in a overstay status.
This is the major reason I will always advice those coming to Dubai for work related stuffs and are a bit financially buoyant to come in with a two year resident permit with EID to avoid this issues of visa change and overstay.

After the struggles and hustles in Nigeria and the way the economic situation is deteriorating in the country I decided to find a way to hustle myself out of the country to seek greener pastures. I have tried processing some Schengen countries visa which yielded nothing I decided to apply for a 90 days tourist visa to Dubai.
During the process of making enquiries for the application of the visa, I was getting exhorbitant rate from agents who wanted to help in processing the visa, what surprised me most to my jaw was when an agent In Dubai told me to pay 600,000naira for a three month visa. So I decided to go online to source for agents who will do the job for me with a reasonable fee. After about three days searching the internet, I finally came across a guy from Uganda who did the three months visa for a fee not up to 150k, infact I was amazed when he told me the amount that I should transfer to him because I have never heard of such amount before, so I thought maybe this was another scammer in disguise. But after much deliberation I decided to give it a try by risking it and behold after a space of three days the visa came out with the insurance. After doing my due diligence and verifying the visa online by confirming the geniunity of the visa, I discovered that the visa was a confirmed 90 days visa. Infact I was really amazed that if someone from Uganda that I haven't met physically can do a visa for me at such amount there are still sincere people in Africa unlike some of our brothers that were calling exhorbitant fees just for a three month Dubai visa.

To be continued
..

Yea,it is with visa and insurance. But as at now the amount for a three months visa and insurance should be hovering around 184k due to exchange rate.
As for courses I feel it is okay if you have the money .
Holluwahgbenga:
does that fee of 150k or less come with insurance? I'm planning on moving to Dubai by God's grace soon waiting a little maybe Flight from Nigeria to Dubai will be opening next month and gather some of my documents and a friend link me to an agent who charge me 250k for the visa with insurance and he suggested I come with some money to do certain course for a week or two which will get me certified and I can get jobs that will pay me at least 2000 dirhams

I must be very sincere with you getting a 2000 dirhams job as a fresher on a tourist visa now in the UAE is like passing a needle through a camel eyes.
The jobs you can get as a fresher in the UAE can range from 1100 to 1700dirhams.
And most of the jobs that even pay the 1700 won't even give you accommodation, so at the end of the day you will still be falling back to 1100 to 1500 dirhams salary as a fresher.
I always advice those coming to Dubai that have good budget to avoid coming here with tourist visa. If you have up to 1.1 to 1.2million naira It is better you process a two year work permit visa from Nigeria. That is the only sure way you will enjoy Dubai a bit when you arrive. But coming here on a tourist visa to look for job you may likely find your first two years in the country not that funny.

Re: My 30 Days Sojourn Through Cotonou To Dubai by Derende(m): 6:31pm On Aug 30, 2021
Yea the two year resident permit can be processed in Nigeria. All you need to do is to contact a good agent in Dubai who will assist with the process over there after collecting all necessary documentation from you here in Nigeria. It usually takes a period of 10 to 15 working days for it to be out depending on how fast things goes.
But for now I will advice anybody going to Dubai to hold on for now due to the issue of the UAE government not issuing work permit to Nigerians, because some Nigerians are having their work permit approved while others are having theirs declined, why there are some that the company you are working for won't even bother applying for your permit but tell you that it was declined by the government. So it is a terrible situation at the moment, and I won't advice someone that is coming on a low budget to venture into this problem most Nigerians here in the UAE are battling at the moment, except you have about 250k that you will have in going for visa change whenever your visa expires until the current issue is resolved. UAE is a country nobody prays to be stranded cos if you mistakenly get into overstay due to the current issue on ground and also stranded due to cash you will love Nigeria you ran from.
Museum:

Can the two year resident permit with EID be processed from Nigeria, any idea on cost and process please?, Thanks for your fine thread and contributions.

Is not that Nigerians are not been granted work permit, the issue is that some Nigerians are getting theirs and some are having theirs rejected at the moment which makes one not to be able to really pin point the real situation Nigeria has with the UAE government.
That is why I will advice anybody coming to uae now to exercise some patience till this whole issue is resolved before coming over.
