Why people keep calling it "Sure Odd" is what baffles me.

Sure Odd and many are still wallowing in poverty.

OP, please nail your addiction "gambling" to the cross of Calvary let Jesus help you.

Over 85% of Nigerians are not economically happy people and the present government has made lives even more difficult for people as hardship is at all time high. We never had it this bad in this country before. With all these, at times, you may find yourself in a situation where you just have to do anything to survive at that period. So I was in dire need as nothing was left with me. I reached out to the online loan people to borrow me some money to repay later and I was borrowed 20k. The sources I hoped to get money to repay failed and time was up. Note: that wasn't my first time of borrowing from them but because I failed this time, they decided to embarrass me by sending offensive messages to my contact list including my lecturer, relatives and ex-girlfriend. I really felt embarrassed.

Well, to cut the story short, the text below is what I sent to them to recover their money.

OP, you are not normal I swear grin

I borrow my friend money after severally considerations. Growing up with him, he has this character of keeping to his words, so when he asked for a loan, I was torn between keeping our friendship and losing my money.
I borrowed him the money, I asked for the money after two months and he said, "do you want it full or part of it". I said give me half because I needed to settle home front with like half of that money and he is a business man. To God be the glory, I was so happy and surprised when the money hit my account. I was so proud to call him a friend. Such people are very rare in our society today.

Slowpoke, with BVN or not, you can't do nothing. Do you want to freeze his account? There's nothing you can do, if he doesn't pay back.

Stop being ignorant youngman. They can do a lot of things include blacklisting his BVN and messing up his credit profile.
Let him go and pay up. It may take time but it will come back to hunt, especially if he still lives here.

Ok, let them blacklist everybody and let's see whom they would lend to. You don't mess with the majority; you'd lose. You fraudsters are in the minority.

I urge these online money lenders to put their money in the real sector and stop being lazy or a real bank where due diligence would be carried out before lending.

Wow, I did not know this. Please where can I read more on what you wrote?

Shokoloko:

Son, let me explain what will happen and I await any counter argument.
You dont have to repay that loan.
But this is what will happen if you don't pay.
Your name and BVN gets entered into the credit bureau as a debtor. Now if you dont have any plans to succeed and enlarge your business there is no point stressing yourself to pay.
But if you ever have a hope of going into business big time, or growing your business, that loan will hang on your neck and you will never be able to access any reasonable service from any financial institution.
Whether in partnership or Limited, the moment your BVN pops up in the bank and you or your company is trying to get any form of credit or bank guarantee, your loan will pop up and God help you, maybe by that time a small loan of N20k has become N2m and you really need a bank guarantee/reference to show your Chinese partners that your company or partnership is capable, then you will pay all plus interest accrued.
Someone said to report to NITDA. NITDA will only instruct that they should not send messages to your contacts.
NITDA cannot wipe your name out of the credit bureau of collections.

Let's try to be looking far into the future when we want to take some actions

You asked for the money after 2 months. Was 2 months the agreed time for him to pay back?

If yes, then why didn't he called you to pay you back and why should he ask you if you want the money full or part of it?

I don't have a source, I worked in the bank of about 15 years. Part of my job was to investigate loan defaults (some as old as 20 years) and the person had totally forgotten about it. I could use anyone's BVN to pull up whatever I wanted. I just ask the marketer or account manager to tell the person to go and make payment to so-and-so before the bank could discuss further.
You see them angry and surprised saying "But this was just N2000, ten years ago" and I tell them "its no longer N2000 o!" And they will be sweating and running around like chickens

you are actually stupid to think you are winning them... Right now you have become a loan defaulter, it will be hard to get any other loans from anywhere here in nigeria.. Wherever you imput your bvn will show that you have defaulted on a loan therefore you will be denied any other loan, even after you have paid this loan off,.. It will be like that for many years... Now tell me who is the winner?

Its not good to owe. If anyone take loans he or she should pay back but I want to ask you,is your dream future based on to continue borrowing?

Animals that people choose to go to. If a person does not like their rates why should the person patronise them?

It's like not liking covenant University rules and regulations, but a student still goes to covenant University and starts complaining about the rules and regulations of which he was aware of before everything the uni.

Wow, please keep educating people on the dangers of defaulting on loans.
As you can see from this thread, a lot of people are ignorant of the dangers, and think nothing would happen to them now or in the future.

They are not looking far. one thing about Nigeria is: as long as your business remains at a mediocre or manageable level (Small contracts here and there) nobody can catch you for your loan.
Let that business explode, or try to take it international, or try to partner with a bigger company to build a better brand, that loan will surface.

I hope they learn. Even the process of getting your name cleared from the credit bureau of collection can delay a deal and make one lose a good deal. Because some of the defaulters will pay and then the organizations they were owing will now take one week to update the bureau. By that time, the contract has been given to a better company.
Then you see grown adults come to cry in the bank, and we always have tissue for them.

Oga you read about the terms and conditions before agreeing to take the loan. If you were not comfortable with the arrangement why not back off and look for another means instead of taking it and coming here to complain later. So you knew about the bofia shit and still went ahead to take the loan...people sef eh

BTW I am not a loan officer
