Don't let them be near each other for some days but let the adult one be used to seeing the puppy around without any contact. Then, let them have physical contact after a few days with your hands around the puppy. Do this a few times each day. After than you let them stay with each other but their interaction must be supervised. It's after they are used to each other that you can leave them alone.

And hope the puppy is not a GSD sha. Cuz those ones don't know adult dogs. They'll keep getting on the nerves of the adult.
