Cannot go wrong with these two. Just walk into any hospital in Nigeria and you will access premium medical services

Hahahaha. HNO get packages ooo... if you are on classic nothing special can come out of it.

If you are in the east, Novo Health is the best. They have packages as low as 15k. I've used them and they are very reliable. And you can use any hospital of your choosing. For more info, msg me.

My brother go for THT... Their medical coverage is reasonable unlike some HMO that you are not entitled to so so coverage.

The most useless is United Comprehensive .
If you need them for approval for surgery, you are on your own (OYO)

AXA charge like 50k per year for Gold membership .... though they have other other plan for individual and family ....

Hygiea is good with small hospital but always fuckup with big hospital

There's no better HMO than United Healthcare International in Nigeria.

My reasons:

1. They have the widest spread, offices in 28 states of the federation with Headquarters in Abuja. In fact in some states, they have up to 3 offices. This means you can easily reach them if you have challenges without necessary calling the call centre. Someone near you will always be willing and ready to help.

2. Aside Army and Police HMO which of course take responsibility for their respective officers and men, UNITED HEALTHCARE INTERNATIONAL has the largest enrollee base in Nigeria. They have the highest Number of Tertiary Institutions enrolled with them too.

3. They are one of the few HMOs that pioneered the Health Insurance Business in Nigeria when it started from the onset, so they've got the experience.

4. United Healthcare will always go the extra mile to satisfy you.

5. They have flexible and affordable prices too. In fact, they have one of the most affordable plans in the industry. Their Travel Insurance prices CANNOT be matched by any HMO in Nigeria too.

Conclusion: Don't be carried away by adverts and social media, UHI has no mate in the Health Insurance business in Nigeria.

If you want cost effectiveness, you can go for the NHIS (GIFSHIP) program. It's being run by the NHIS itself. It's has the most comprehensive benefit package. It costs 45k to register for a year as an individual, the same amount can also register a couple and a child. If you're a family of four, you'll pay 60k.
The package is very comprehensive and covers the primary, secondary and tertiary levels of car including child birth and surgeries. You can choose any NHIS accredited hospital in Nigeria and incase of an emergency, you can access health care in any NHIS accredited hospital in Nigeria.

I work in a hospital and from my observations, these two HMOs get same quality treatment as private patients unlike others HMOs.. They are accepted in many hospitals but I really don't know their rates..

I WORK IN A HOSPITAL AND I HAVE SEEN CASES WHERE A PATIENT OR ENROLLEE ISNT COVERED FOR A PARTICULAR PROCEDURE , TEST OR CARE BUT THEY TELL U TO GO AHEAD THAT THEY WILL PAY. AND THEY THEN RESOLVE WITH PATIENT LATER. YOU WONT UNDERSTAND THE VALUE OF THIS UNTIL U ARE IN A TIGHT CORNER. THIS IS THE HALLMARK OF HMO.

SEEN MORE THAN 12 PATIENTS WHO weren't COVERED FOR A PARTICULAR SURGERY AND MARINA PAID AND LATER DISCUSS WITH PATIENT HOW TO PAY BACK GRADUALLY .

Both the hospitals and HMO, no One get head.

Don't bother advertising for them.

Based on my experience on HMO's products they has like three stages: Silver, Golden & Diamond. These platform has certain amount you will be contributing as counterpart fund from your salary on monthly basis but the kinds of services rendered on the above stages is different like Diamond stage can accommodate major surgery and your aged parents, 4 children etc while Golden can accommodate minor surgery and so on.
