Hello guys, based on experience and relationship, which HMO will you recommend for people to register with as at today September 9th 2021?

I also don't know about NHIS if it's good.

Reason I'm asking this is most times salary earners are the ones who benefit from this HMO stuff cos it's being withdrawn from their salary.

Now what about business people and market people aren't they supposed to benefit?

What HMO would you recommend and how much is the plan?

Categorically RELIANCE HMO

The only Tech-Health HMO in the industry.

www.reliancehmo.com

PS: If you need a job in an HMO, if you know you can add value to the marketing department, kindly respond to this post. I can connect you.

Have you looked at SUNU HEALTH HMO?... They're very very good, with reliable customer service and mobile App on play store, for easy access to care.
I think you can get a plan for like 25k per annum or so.
They are also domiciled in some African countries too.
Our office in Ghana use them too.

My company use them for more than five years and they're very good.
They started operation since 2007 or thereabout.
I recommend them
Try it
I have their customer care number: 08079992837.
Good luck

The HMOs (Health Maintenance Organizations)
offer different classes of coverage each with its own unique benefits.
Find out what services the HMO offers. Make sure that the services you need most are covered. If you have special health care needs, like medical equipment or supplies, find out how much the HMO will pay for what you need. You also should find out how much of the cost you will have to pay.

Can vouch for Greenbay. They are doing well

Reliance HMO.
Health point HMO.
IHMS HMO.
AIICO HMO.
Redcare Health Service Limited.
Hallmark.
Greenbay.

All the best.

If your based in South East, middle belt or North. There is one HMO like that called " liberty blue". Run away from them as far as possible.
They know how to cut corners and their service is terrible. They prefer to offer you mushroom hospitals and connive with hospital management to offer mediocre services. Then, only my colleagues based in Lagos & Abuja never complained. Most likely , because our HQ and Top bosses were based in Lagos then and frequent Abuja, so eye service was key but other locations was just terrible.
My experience with them was so bad I had to ditch them and join NHIS despite monthly deductions from my salary then.

I am the HMO OFFICER in my hospital and i can tell you that the best HMO you can ever partner with is AXA MANSARD. You dont have to wait too long in the hospital with the quest of getting approvals for treatments. They are so widely accepted by many Hospitals and i think they do ROAMING PLAN too I.E YOU CAN USE THEM IN ANY HOSPITAL THAT HAS CONTRACT WITH AXA MANSARD. Concerning the cost though, it varies depending on the plan youre on. a person with a chronic illness might decide to opt for a bigger plan than someone who just want insurance for insurance sake. DONT EVER EVER EVER CHOOSE HYGEIA AS AN HMO. You will regret last last ni. Because the hospital will disrespect you and even Hygeia will let you down.

Top 3 HMOs according to my knowledge are
1. axa mansard
2. venus medicare
3. liberty blue

. You hit the nail right on the spot Hygeia is one of the worst hmo ever. You can only enjoy little services at their best hospital which is lagoon hospital because they are the owner of both the hmo and hospital

Dear Friends,

Have used Greenbay, Novo, THT- Liberty Blue, Anchor, and AXA mansard due to different organisations I worked with.
I must confess, AXA Mansard is the best, if you are sick and visit some of the hospitals they have relationship with. You may not want to go home again because of the way you will be taken care of. AXA Mansard has Meal and private room in the hospital as part of their plans for my treatment.

I uses them through my current employer.

They are simply the best for now.

Regards.

do you by any means know the plan your current employer has you under?

Because hospitals scam HMOs a lot but Hygeia audit and nip it in the bud, a lot of other HMOs are still n the dark with this.
They are heavy on technology which helps catch this fraud

Lies, I don't even stay in Lagos but have used them for 7 years now. The hospital's short coming has nothing to do with the HMO. If it does will their own hospital be doing well?

Hospitals make use of electronic medical records EMR software now which make it impossible to cheat because every treatment statement is printed out, the patients goes through it and signs before leaving the hospital premises.

Hygeia rejects as little as folic acid for pregnant women!!

EMR doesn't stop fraud. Hospitals often give out drugs not needed. This has happened to me. They treated me for something but n the portal they uploaded additional tests. With Hygeia there is a robust online portal where even you can check what you've been treated for and then contest when what is it is false. So they don't work with the hospital EMR but what the hospitals load on the portal, some even check in people who didn't come.
So they can show the patient one thing but upload another on the portal.

I don't know how that is done with the kind of EMR I have seen because the doctor documents every visit of a patient while the patient is still in the consulting room. The EMR is programmed to print out diagnosis and treatment plan for the patient to confirm and sign before leaving. When requesting for approval on the Hygeia portal, u enter diagnosis and treatment plan and then you get approval or denial there and then while the patient is still around. If approved, the billing unit prints their own copy and send to Hygeia it is at this moment they refuse paying for what they had previously approved.

What most of these HMOs tell their enrollees is totally different from the agreement they have with the hospital's, this is where most of the problem comes in.

Now let me explain, EMR is used locally by the hospital and the HMO has no access to it, what they have access to are case notes and what the hospitals put on the portal.
Now they refuse some payments because of inconsistencies where hospitals go for more expensive tests where not needed or giving expensive drugs where there are cheaper options as agreed in the contract. They do not send any copy to the HMO but they upload on the portal.
A hospital has requested for treatment with my name and I didn't even go to the hospital, another time they added treatments they didn't do for me. Thanks to the app I saw it there and complained. I know 2 other people this happened to.
The HMO signs an agreement with the hospitals and with the enrollees and nothing is verbal, thing is in Nigeria we do not read contracts but we just sign and when enforcement is carried out we cry foul.
I will show you a reputable organization that connived with hospitals to claim they treated them and then share the proceeds with the hospitals.
I don't talk on assumption but data, it took me a while to come to my conclusions

I'm not saying hospitals don't cheat, some of them do. Hygeia are very fond of denying payments for treatments given to their enrollees. Let me give you an example from when I was working in a hospital. A patient was on admission for like 3 days, on each of those days he was given a medication as per the dosage and treatment plan after which he recovered and was discharged. Now the bill was compiled, the patient signed and was discharged. The bill was now sent to Hygeia for payment only for them to say why was the patient given that medication for 3 days and not 2?, hence they refused paying for the 3rd dosage. So who will pay for the 3rd dosage?.

It's called medical necessity. A lot of times hospitals I beyond the medically necessary treatment. An enrolee signing isn't a thing. I will call a reputable organization that were defrauding HMOs in conjunction with hospitals. For respect reasons, I won't call the organization.
Treating someone isn't good enough but with necessity. The idea of insurance is that it should be the nearest minimum quality treatment as it is so anywhere in the world. How much premium do these companies pay? Hardly ever up to 100k per year per person. From my research Hygeia as a company pays an average of 700M per month to hospitals. That informed more strict measures where you will see a good percentage of claims was not even done.
Some will even want refunds for cosmetic things which insurance will never cover.
