That was a typo and, thanks for the correction. cool

But why claimed that Over 60% Of Lagos VAT Is From Sea Port
?

While in fact, Paye " it is?

That is for IGR. Internally Generated Revenue. Those are taxes on Personal Income tax, road tax, etc. While FAAC is from crude oil, federal collected taxes including VAT, education tax, company income tax, petroleum tax, etc.

BUILDING APAPA PORT IS DIFERENT FROM USING APAPA PORT. WITHOUT IGBO IMPORTERS, APAPA PORT WILL BE CLOSED DOWN. BY THE WAY, APAPA PORT WAS THE ONLY INFRASTRACTURE THAT THE WHITE COLONIAL MASTERS BUILT BEFORE INDEPENDENCE. THE REST WERE BUILT WITH BIAFRA'S OIL MONEY.

YOU INGRATES SHOULD BE GRATEFUL TO IGBOS. YORUBAS DON'T WANT NIGERIA TO BREAK UP BECAUSE YOU ARE FEEDING OFF FROM IGBO SWEAT. FROM HOUSES, TO YOUR SEA PORTS, TO YOUR AIRPORTS, TO YOUR MARKETS TO INDUSTIRES, YOU LIVE OFF IGBOS TAXES. THEN YOU CAP IT ALL WITH MONTLY ALLOCATION MONEY FROM BIAFRA'S OIL OF WHICH MOST IS GOTTEN FROM IGBOLAND OF RIVERS STATE, DELTA AND SOUTH EAST STATES. YORUBAS WORK AND WAIT TO BE PAID AFTER THE MONTH.

ONCE BIAFRA IS RESTORED, THERE WILL BE REVERSE MIGRATION OF IGBOS BACK TO BIAFRA AND ACTIVITIES AT LAGOS PORTS AND AIRPORT WILL SWITCH OFF LIKE LIGHT BECAUSE YORUBAS ARE NOT INTO BUSINESS TO BE ABLE TO IMPORT GOODS OF THE VOLUME THAT WILL SUSTAIN APAPA AND TINCAN PORTS. YOU MUST BE AFRAID OF YOUR FUTURE.
. Why are you turning this discussion to be an Igbo vs Yoruba issue?.. what is your problem?.. are you really Igbo? leave igbos out of this discussion

IGR is different from FAAC. The pie chart you posted is for IGR not FAAC. IGR in states are mainly from personal income tax. I have said it before that it is the state government that collects personal income tax exception of those of federal workers and some others. In order to collect personal income tax easily, that is why PAYE was introduced. Meaning workers should pay as they earn.

LAGOS IS THE HIGHEST BECAUSE WE KNOW COMPANIES THERE ARE NUMEROUS, FROM BANKS TO INSURANCE TO CONSULTANCY, TO MEDIUM SCALE ENTERPRISES, etc. For this reason, Lagos I taxing so many workers salaries. There are more employees in Lagos than any other state of the federtion. But for Ogun, it is only companies, and these companies are taxed by the federal government. The workers there are majorly poorly paid. That is why Ogun IGR is less than that of Delta.

Then for FAAC. It is made up of revenue from crude oil sale, VAT collection, Company Income tax, Petroleum tax, custom duties, personal income tax of federal government employees, etc. For FAAC, crude oil is the king. And that is where the main deal is.

But for FAAC,

I'm am Urhobo. Delta IGR is higher than that of Ogun in the sum of N9b even with all the industries there. Like I told you, it is the federal government that collects Company Income Tax and not state government. It is the personal income tax of the companies employees that state government collect. More reason there is 100 per cent more companies in Ogun State than Delta but Delta has more IGR than Ogun.

LAGOS AIRPORT TRAFIC HAS IGBOS AS THE MOST USERS OF THE AIRPORT. MOST OF THE MARKETS IN LAGOS ARE DOMINATED BY IGBOS. IMAGINE ALL THE TAXES WE PAY IN LAGOS? IT MUST BE CHANNELED BACK TO BIAFRA AND THAT'S THE REASON BIAFRA MUST BE RESTORED.

Is the IGR also oil? Stubborn fellow. I have taken cognisance of your name. I know as I go dey do my argument with you pass. Without oil, Lagos and all other state will be poor. Just be grateful that the South South is feeding your poor state. N50b annual IGR is $100m. Your state is worth $100m without FAAC.

The lagos airport was built in the 40s during WW2 and the seaport was built in the 20s. There was nothing like Federal government of Nigeria in those periods .

Awolowo's AG built Ilupeju and Ikeja industrial estates .
The colonial government and nature made Lagos what it is today .

All these information are online bro. You just need to research and read wide not listening to radio Biafra .

Originally known as Lagos International Airport, it was renamed in the mid 1970s, during construction of the new international terminal, after a former Nigerian military head of state Murtala Muhammed.

You are high on alcohol. I base in Abeokuta, infact as I'm typing this, I'm eating egusi n semo at Halaga. I am a lawyer that practice in Abeokuta n environ. From Remo to ijebu Ode to egba, I know these places well. The standard of living to spending power. I'm from Delta, an Urhobo n I'm running my ICAN programme at Afrograms, Ita Eko. I have been in Ogun for 4 years now.

The two states are my current states now. Delta is my state of origin n Ogun is my state of residence.
You can't compare Delta to Ogun even without oil. Try and travel to Delta. I have been to Sagamu, ijebu Ode, I'm in Abeokuta, I shuttle Ota, Ifo, Itori, Ilaro, Owode Egba, Mowoe, Laburo, etc. Tell me where you have been to in Delta!

See, Delta don't even tax indigenes like Ogun. still yet they supercedes Ogun in terms of IGR last year. Go get the figures.

Kunle Edun, an exco of Nigeria Bar Association practice in Warri. He is from Ogun. There are more Senior Advocates base in Warri than Abeokuta. There are close to 10 SANs in Warri alone. Abeokuta has just one SAN.

People migrate for several reasons, I did my NYSC here and I have my peace of mind here. There are SANs also in Asaba. The whole of Ogun has just one SAN who is in Abeokuta, why? Because there is no money in the state.

@OP.

4 pages and no one has called you out? Can't believe it. Guys Google "60% of lagos vat from port" you will see that the only link to this ludicrous assertion is this same thread on Nairaland.

Too much jealousy for Lagos and Yorubas in Nigeria sha. This always prompt people to say the dumbest thing in the attempt to deny Lagos and the Yorubas of credit.

VAT means value added tax . It is a form of consumption tax. Consumption tax is a tax on the purchase of a good or service that end users pay. VAT is collected by retailers of goods and services and paid to the government.

VAT is also collected on imports at the port but it won't be responsible for 60% of Lagos VAT total as this OP claims because he deliberately and fraudulently bypasses other significant avenues of VAT collection.

VAT is also paid by MDAs on contract awards with Abuja being the main beneficiary as most MDAs are located in Abuja and pay VAT there.

Most important to note, specifically concerning Lagos, is VAT end user consumers pay i.e ordinary folks going about their daily life. This is where the wealth, population, purchasing power and huge market of Lagos comes into play.

As an example, people should find out the number of supermarkets, clubs; bars, eateries, spas, retail shops, hotels etc in Lagos and how that numbers dwarfs the equivalent in other States of Lagos to understand the huge amount of VAT being collected in Lagos.

Simply put, Lagos is the most commercially active State in Nigeria by far with consumption of goods and services on a gargantuan level in comparison to the rest of Nigeria. VAT paid by end user consumers would be responsible in the main for the VAT figures of Lagos to an extent I doubt other sources of VAT collection can match.

OP, stop hating and start appreciating. Your life will be better for it.
