President Muhammadu Buhari is seeking the approval of the national assembly to borrow fresh sums of $4,054,476,863 and €710 million in an addendum to the 2018-2020 borrowing plan.

WOW! The indolent and incompetent FULANI TERRORIST government of LIEGERIA has saddled the country with so much debt that it would NEVER be able to pay. The sad truth is that with all that borrowing, there's NOTHING to show for it. The economy is worse than it has ever been, the citizens are worse off than they were even a month ago, infrastructure is none existent, lives and properties are NOT secured, and hyper inflation is at an all time high. And with all these, yet some people still believe in ONE LIEIGERIA hoping that one day GOD would come and save them from their deplorable condition and things would get better. I got news for these folks living in denial, your country would NEVER get better rather it's getting worse. The country was purposely designed to FAIL by the EVIL British colonialists.Your only saving grace is the dissolution of the country and to each his/her own. You can't be in the same country with those whose life philosophy is to either CONQUER or DESTROY, MAIM and KILL! These people do NOT believe in any form of human, capital or infrastructural development. They are NOT BUILDERS, folks!

Nigerian politicians are just useless spineless cowards that use social media as the best place they can rant. When they see Bubu they'll all go dumb. How I wish our politicians would do their jobs with courageous audacity and less greed. This nation would have been better than Europe that all the youths are scampering to.

watin Brazil get way a whole Nigeria won dey borrow money from them

GladGlad:
On Wednesday, the senate gave a go-ahead to the Federal government to borrow another $1.5 billion and 995 million euros from World Bank, the Export-Import Bank of Brazil, and Deutsche Bank.

The new loans which are about N1 trillion in naira terms will bring Nigeria’s total external public debts to over N13 trillion.

As at December 2020, Nigeria’s external debt was N12.71 trillion, an increase of 40.82 percent from N9.02 trillion in December 2019.

How is the external loan sourced?

Nigeria’s external debt is in four categories: agreements; multilateral, bilateral, commercial and in Promissory notes.

The multilateral category is external debt burden to international financial institutions (IFIs) such as the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank.

The total debt stock for nigeria could rise from N33 trillion to N34tr soon as the National Assembly approves another N1.1tr external loan request for the federal government.

The House of Representatives yesterday approved the external loan of $1.5 billion (about N571.5bn) and €995 million (about N528.4bn) for the federal government while the Senate had approved the request last week.

The Debt Management Office (DMO) had in March 2021 placed nigeria’s Public debt at N32.915tr as of December 31, 2020. This included the debt stock of the federal and state governments as well as the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

“Total Public Debt to Gross Domestic Product as at December 31, 2020 was 21.61 percent, which is within nigeria’s new limit of 40 percent.”

According to the recommendations made in a report submitted to the House by the House Committee on Aids, Loans and Debt Management presented to the House during plenary on Thursday, the loans are to be sourced from the World Bank and Export-Import Bank of brazil which will be used for various purposes as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic effects.

Presenting the report, Ahmed Safana Dayyabu stated that, the loans are to be used in financing priority projects of the federal government.

“The Committee notes that while nigeria’s Total Public Debt Stock is on the increase, it is still relatively low Vis-a-Vis the country’s GDP and the increased borrowing requirements is needed to sustain the economic recovery,” he added.

Commenting, a former President of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Tony Ejinkeonye, called on the federal government to judiciously utilise the fresh external loans approved on Thursday by the House of Representatives.

Ejinkeonye, who is currently the Business Development Director Africa, esilkroad Network, told Daily Trust that already the nation’s debt burden is high.

He called for alternative means of generating revenues instead of the constant borrowing.

“We have to develop our industries. We need to develop critical infrastructure that will bring revenues to the country,” he advised, including expanding tax net.

Every person in this country will know by now there is serious problems that the rulers are not disclosing! The National Assembly is equally pretending that all is well but yet placing Nigeria future generations on Debt Burden. On what conditions are Senators just approving the Loans that are being borrowed in Foreign Currencies?
The questions before the Assembly men should be:
• What is the Status of Nigeria as far as Revenues and Expenses are concerned?
The Minister of Finance should appear before a live Television and tell Nigerians before the Honorable Assembly the Problems that is making us to borrow every now and then!
•How much do we have as Income ?
• How much have we received since this govt came to power?
•Why are we constantly Borrowing for as little as Meeting Salaries.?
If Nigeria is moving forward,we are all in it!

Borrowing to fund development, I have no problems with.

But this government shot itself in the foot or feet with the
* ethnic bigotry,
* colossal corruption in Aso and other
* Government houses (for a son to take im mama to EFCC, that certainly takes the biscuit - I personally is yet to be paid by Gandollars fraudulent machinery... )
* The very long and pregnant silence over the systematic decimation of the non-Muslims in the North
* all the nonsense money they pay bandits
* making the business terrain quite difficult for the common man.

Yes there have been laudable achievements.. But these are peanuts compared to the growing chasm of need.
